The Mooch’s Refusal To Use Celtic’s Name Is The Act Of A Small Man Playing To The Gallery.

The Mooch is definitely “one of their own” alright.

Small minded, obsessed with chickenshit details, backstabbing, nasty and without a scruple. They have the right man at the helm alright, even if he’s not going to prove to be the right manager. He and they are a perfect fit.

It’s not often that someone can walk into that place and inspire instant aversion; usually somebody has to be there a while before the place overcomes whatever better nature they slid in there with. But not with this guy. The manner of his getting the job, combined with his smarmy and highhanded attitude have made him immediately dislikeable.

What was that about today, that little stunt he pulled, where he called the champions of Scotland, a club whose manager has shown the utmost respect for every other club in the land “the other team”? What except the small-minded act of a petty man who has the Ibrox job now but feels he has to play to the gallery of goons before he’s taken a single game?

The media is reporting on this. That’s how out of the ordinary it is. That’s how big a breach of protocol it is for one manager to refer to the club who are his direct rivals in such a manner. I know some of them think it’s great, but it marks him out as classless, as a guy who should be embarrassed when viewed alongside Ange and how he deals with this stuff.

That is a weird football club over there, and some folk go a bit nuts when they arrive in it. He would never behave that way in England, because nobody in England would indulge this kind of nonsense for two seconds. But at Ibrox this kind of behaviour is seen as perfectly normal, and even reasonable. But it’s childish and it makes him seem small.

That man is off to the perfect star over there, because he fits right in. But with every act like this he makes it that little bit harder to be taken seriously. He makes it that little bit harder for him to salvage his own reputation for when he has to slink back to England.

He is a mug that he does not recognise that fact.
