Celtic Set To Face Arch Bigot With McInnes Desperate For Any Way To Stop Us.

Only in Scotland would Celtic be on the brink of facing a player who has just served a ten match ban for a sectarian slur aimed at one of our supporters, but that’s where we are today with the League Cup semi-final at Hampden looming next weekend.

Yesterday, we comfortably beat Kilmarnock at Celtic Park and in the aftermath their manager, Derek McInnes, said that he would need to come up with something different if he was going to get a result in the coming game.

We all know what his trump card will be; to throw the arch bigot Kyle Lafferty into the team and punt long balls to him.

You’ll see how seriously Scottish football takes the issue of sectarianism when he steps onto the pitch. He ought to have been booted out of the game entirely, as a warning to others, including fans.

If fans did this stuff they’d never be allowed in a football ground again.

Players get sent to counselling as though, at his age, he’s going to learn something about this subject that years inside Ibrox didn’t teach him already.

Lafferty has been a media darling for years.

A career commenting on the game for the BBC obviously awaits him and they will play the “aww shucks we didn’t realise anyone would be offended” card when people complain, and they’ll trot out some guff about “well he learned his lesson, didn’t he?”

Only too well if his punishment for such clear-cut bigotry is a cup semi final place virtually handed to him on a plate.

We can all learn a thing or two from that.

Like how this stuff is still tolerated in this horrible land of ours.

Today, at Tannadice, the away fans were up to their knees in fenian blood before a ball had even been kicked and we have a media which pretends it isn’t happening, not to mention an association which is yellow from backbone to belly on this stuff.

And until that changes, this stuff will go on and on and on.

People why Scotland can’t get past this.
