If you’ve not been following today’s emerging social media story you’ve missed a special moment in the history of Castore’s relationship with the Ibrox fans.

They have released – and this is not a joke although it’s going to sound like one – the AC/DC range of “club themed” tat. Everything from a new strip with the band logo on it to scarves.

Honestly, I actually burst out laughing reading their merchandise press release.

This is to commemorate the band’s “first Scottish gig” and the stuff is threaded through with references to Glasgow.

Which would be fine except for one small matter.

Their first gig in Scotland wasn’t in Glasgow, it was in Edinburgh.

A tiny event for 150 people at the Napier College Student Union in April 1976.

Granted, they played at Glasgow University in May and then at City Halls in June but the fact remains that the advertising blurb on Castore’s new Ibrox related tat is just plain wrong.

When you can’t even get the small stuff right then I’d suggest you stop what you’re doing altogether, but of course this is Scotland where “alternative facts” were born in 2012 long before the phrase was in popular use in American politics.

No wonder the Forest Green chairman is in the papers today telling them that Ibrox’s claims to have gotten £300,000 for Charlie McCann (who he?) are false and that their club paid “nowhere near that.”

It’s just part of the eternal pattern over there.

Still, the AC/DC collection based on some spurious logic about their 1976 UK tour.

It has to be the worst excuse for knocking out a new line of kit that I’ve ever heard in my life. And you know something? There is no other support in this country which Castore will be able to pull something like this on.

Just when you think that company has fleeced these Peepul as much as it can it produces something magnificent like this and … well, I was going to say you feel bad for them, but it really is impossible to feel bad for their fans anymore, they’ve tolerated this so long.

Fools and their money. They deserve all they get.
