Glasgow World Continues To Insult The Intelligence Of Celtic Fans With Their Swill.

Isn’t Glasgow World a talentless joke of a website? Especially its chronically bad sports department which is woeful beyond anything we’ve seen before, even here in Scotland, where let’s face it we’re not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to good sportswriters.

But the staff on their sports-desk are painfully, embarrassingly, toe-curlingly awful in a way I’ve rarely encountered in a decade doing this job. I always said that based on the quality of some of his output that Joel Sked is the worst sports journalist in the country, but these people make him look like a Hugh McIlvanney style colossus by comparison.

For about the fourth or fifth time (who’s counting?) in the space of about a fortnight they have published meaningless trash articles about how they “simulated” the impact current signings at our club and the one across the city would make.

You would think these people had NASA style technology at their fingertips, or some special permission to use the Frontier system at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

But they didn’t do this with a supercomputer, they did it on Football Manager which you can run pretty well from your phone.

That any publication would write goonish, cartoonish articles like that and expect to be taken seriously is bad enough. But that they basically lie about the baseline information devalues pieces that had no value to begin with. They literally messed around with the editor and ran a “simulation” which any person could for themselves.

It’s not news. It’s nowhere near being news. It’s not even bog standard, it’s zero standard, it’s sub-standard. It is, to use the local vernacular, utterly shite. And the only reason I’m writing about it is that to even put that stuff online implies a certain amount of contempt not just for Celtic fans but those on the other side of the city as well.

If I had to give you an example of media dumbing down this would be it, and it offends my sensibilities to see that stuff being published at all far less treated with any modicum of respect.

It is ludicrous. It is unworthy of an occupation which people used to aspire to enter.

And it is shocking that any “news” company would employ someone to produce garbage like this when there are serious issues in our sport to be addressed, and literally hundreds of talented people who can’t get into the news business banging on the door and who would never dream of insulting the profession or their readers by turning this stuff out.

To be brutal about it, all involved in it should be heartily ashamed. If they had any shame to begin with, which frankly I have my doubts about.
