The Mooch Says Celtic Winning The Treble Is “Unthinkable.” I Suggest He Starts Thinking It.

Obviously I’d want us to beat any manager at Ibrox, but there are some who inspire a special kind of loathing and The Mooch has, very swiftly, become one of them.

It’s been a long time since I felt utter contempt for one, but he has inspired that too.

His comments yesterday continued his unbroken streak of horrific press conferences. He is on a better run there than his team will ever be able to muster. The casual way he said that if his team doesn’t win a trophy that we will sweep the boards is such a dismissal of Aberdeen and every side still in the Scottish Cup that it’s astonishing.

I’ve said before that it’s plainly obvious that his mentality is such that coming to Scotland is viewed as an easy gig. He thinks he only has to really beat one team here, and sooner or later that sort of ego and arrogance is going to hurt him badly.

I would love it if that happened today.

I worry Aberdeen, who are the biggest underachievers in this game, won’t have the juice to get past them. That would leave it up to us to put him in his place, and I am confident that we would do just that.

He described the idea of us winning a treble as “unthinkable.”

What I suggest is that he start thinking about it.

The league is just about home and hosed.

The League Cup Final gives us the opportunity for Ange to make it four trophies out of five.

This is a club that is seriously equipped to rule this game for a long time.

Aside from Lennon’s second season and the COVID collapse, there never would have been a break to our dominance, which would now be in its 11th straight year.

The Mooch really is a stupid man.

He talks a good game, that’s a fact, but there’s nothing more to him than his own hype.

After a good start for him at QPR it unravelled quickly. We’ve seen that happen at Celtic Park under previous regimes. Some managers surf a brief wave of euphoria and good results and then it all comes crashing down.

There is nothing “unthinkable” about Celtic winning a treble this season.

It’s not certain but by God it is nowhere near to being impossible.

All this hyperbole does him no good whatsoever, it just sets up him to be propelled into crisis by the first serious reversal.

Sunday 26 February is the day of the final.

We’ll see how unthinkable it is then.

If he wants to be more than just an embarrassing footnote he needs to start living in, and dealing with, reality.

The world as it is, not the one he wishes that it was.
