The latest Ibrox fantasy has made the papers today and it’s a good one, being pushed by Brian Laudrup of all people which just goes to show that there’s a media gig for anyone out there who wants one and who once played for one of their clubs.

This particular delusion is that Celtic will fold if we lose the League Cup Final. Not that anyone amongst our support realistically expects that to happen, but if we did Laudrup – and he’s not alone over there in harbouring this fantasy – thinks we’d crumble.

He also thinks it would be the shot in the arm for The Mooch’s team, to make them believers in themselves. I’ve written about this before, that sometimes a team just needs to win something to hit the higher gears … but this is a team most of which won a league and a Scottish Cup already. Shouldn’t they have gotten that taste by now?

Are we really to believe they are just a League Cup away from being world beaters?

I always enjoy their wee diversions into fantasy. They amuse me. Laudrup is not known for rabble rousing nonsense, so I was surprised to read this kind of stuff from him, but the idea itself is just nutty and without merit of any sort.

We have a nine-point lead. This team does not rattle. This manager does not get spooked by one-off results. He continues to drive this club onwards and keep them focussed on one game at a time. In a sense, Laudrup is a bit guilty of magical thinking, the sort that Dave King was indulging in when he made his “house of cards” prediction.

But this is the second season after they won the title that was supposed to accomplish the goal of demolishing all Celtic had built … and Laudrup is talking about us throwing it away. Maybe he wants to have a think about the implications of that.

  • Tony B says:

Pathetic and laughable coming from a flat track bully like Laudrup, who got away with murder when he played in Scotland, falling over at every opportunity in the knowledge that corrupt officials would support his cheating.

He disappeared without trace when he moved to England to play where the laws were applied fairly.

An over rated one trick pony if ever there was one.

    • Michael Collins says:

Well said Tony B. Laudrup had hardly kicked a ball in his last season at Rangers when he knew he was going to Chelsea, and as you said he disappeared without trace down there.

  • Scud Missile says:

Ah right out of King the CHISLERS book of lies, next he will be telling people that Celtic will go into administration with that meltdown.

  • John Mason says:

It’s not worth a comment come may the title will be in the bag along with the cup and hopefully the treble AGAN keep dreaming laudmouth

  • Voice of Reason says:

Why is he SOOOO good though? Ask Jim SHITE the ARSE-LICKING HUN BASTARD!! Aw these CLOWNS must be Fukin SKINT tae take the Peanuts fur PUNTING THIS PISH!!

  • JimBhoy says:

Rangers have many issues coming and not just this season. They will lose potentially 9-10 players for various reasons and will need to find £5-6m for Tilman.

They will get into the qualifying rounds of the CL and will need to meet that early engagement with some new players, that’ll be a challenge for Beale. They miss the CL it compounds things for them for next season. They need the group stages cash to recruit and with UEFA’s eyes on them.

  • JimBhoy says:

Looks like Lundstrum will miss the final, such a shame.

If Celtic get a good final win it will really be pivotal for the Klan on how they see Beale. Could be an interesting run in.

I think the Celts will win the league with 15 points to spare.

Beale hasn’t been tested under pressure especially fan pressure. Torches and pitchforks.

    • Scud Missile says:

Burn the WART burn the WART.

    • Voice of Reason says:

We will win the league before the SPLIT m8! After PUMPIN them in the Lg Cup Final they will IMPLODE & their ARSES will COLLAPSE COMPLETELY!! Watch Arthur ‘Daley’ Beale start spinning like that Tory Cow Braverman on Asylum Seekers!!

  • Effarr says:

So what happens if Old Firm Sevco lose the final? Does the same bigoted logic not apply?

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Laudrup sticks his head intae the football pages now and again, tho never anythin wi any substance. All just wishful thinkin. Spew Heevins, he had them tae win the league cup 3 weeks ago. Another frightened wee man, who keeps himself ‘safe’ tae walk the street wi his predictions. If we’ve a full team fit for the final, nothin tae fear. Tho wouldnae be surprised if there’s some sort of official or VAR decision(s) worked against us.

  • Johnny Green says:

If we play to our best on Cup Final day, and they do the same, then we will win at a canter. I don’t care who the officials are, we will take them in our stride as well. We have no pressure on us and nothing to fear, while the huns are shitting themselves. Hopefully the fall out from that defeat will destroy whatever fake confidence they have been gathering since the Beale appointment.

  • Peter cassidy says:

As we as supporters know anything can happen in cup final but if Celtic play football we will win. The bigots have had plenty of help from bent official working var and bent refs to date.
