The Lack Of Folk Tipping Celtic Shows There Are Very Few “Neutrals” On This One.

By any measureable standard, we are the favourites for this game. But look at how many of the “pundits” have gone for the club from Ibrox. Why? Because they’re a on a decent run and because they are everyone – virtually every single one of them – have reverted to picking the winner they’d like to see rather than the sensible one.

Who are the neutrals exactly? You can tell most of them because they’ve picked Celtic. But every single writer in the business of an Ibrox persuasion has picked their favourite team for this, and that’s astonishing to me.

One of them – Chris Jack – can be relied upon to do that every single time which is why I actually laughed at his assertion that if the game had been held before the World Cup there would only have been one pick; for him, that would have been the Ibrox club and he can kid on as much as he likes about that, but we all know it.

But many of them do not do it this way. I’ve seen Jackson tip Celtic for these, just as I’ve seen some of his mentalist colleagues on The Record Monday Jury do it. It’s not unheard of. But they’ve mostly gone for their favourites here … which is a measure of how confident they are.

I don’t believe this is simply bias showing. Deep in their wee hearts they really do believe that The Mooch had stumbled upon the magic formula that makes them a good side. They really do believe that he will the measure of Ange Postecoglou.

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve seen the pundits picks for this so clearly drawn down along the lines of who their favourite teams are.

Often over these past few years there has been a spark of sanity about some of the predictions, but this time, on the Ibrox side, they see what they want to and that’s why so many of them have predicted that their team will win.

By this tomorrow, we’ll know. But as a betting man, I know who my money is going on and not just because I want Celtic to win. It’s because I’m so confident that we will I’m willing to put it where my mouth is.
