Today’s Penalty For The Ibrox Club Is An Utter Embarrassment To Scottish Football.

The Ibrox club finally conceded a penalty kick today, a correct decision and one that had it not been given would have raised Hell amongst the observers. Except Stephen Craigan who almost cried as the spot kick was being taken.

But having done that, the officials simply had to do something to appease the home club and I just watched one of the most ridiculous, and absurd, penalty kick awards I’ve ever seen in my life.

Given to the Ibrox club, who promptly missed it … but Tillman clearly dives into the penalty area after a contact which took place well outside it.

If VAR officials looked at that and concluded that it’s a spot kick then frankly these people need their eyes tested or their motivations thoroughly examined because that decision was not just absurd.

If they are giving that as a penalty after a second look then I have to conclude that they either have a different interpretation of where the box starts than me or it is bent.

I can honestly say this; I have never seen a decision so blatantly and utterly wrong and not just once but twice. That the ref awarded in the first place is an open and shut travesty as you didn’t even require a second look to see that it wasn’t in the penalty area and the “tackle” itself was debatable.

That VAR either confirmed it or he refused to over-rule his initial decision is flat-out outrageous and there ought to be an inquiry into what happened here.

There was, of course, another controversy in the game, and it’s one that threatens to have a long aftermath.

I’ll get to it in due course, but it seems that The Mooch has annoyed an awful lot of his club’s own supporters today … by trying to be a good guy, or so as he thinks it.

If he forgot, temporarily, the club he was manager of, his own fans were on hand to remind him. I’ll get to it.

It requires its own article, and I have to see if the social media following reflects the obvious anger in the stands.

I’m certain that it will.

Lucky Hun Bastards that we will Fukin DESTROY in a Fortngt! They are UTTER PISH & are NAE BETTER than under Van Wankhurst!!

    • Jamesie says:

Your right Sean, kyogos dream team and many more titles. They are pish. Hopefully we will hammer them in a few weeks. On that performance, we have nothing to fear.

  • John Shields says:

Never a penalty, contact outside the box. Is it just me or are the “officials” checking everything in the hope of giving decisions for them and giving decisions against us? And yes I’m paranoid, with good reason ??

    • Eugenio Savelli says:

What do you expect from our ruling bodies they are not fit for purpose SFA/SPFL THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE how to run a football business it’s time we rid ourselves of them and get proper football people in that knows how to run the game properly and should be done with imediate effect.

  • Johnny Green says:

The foul was outside the box and never a penalty and the Thistle keeper did what they all should do, not dive, but stand his ground and then take his chances. Since it was badly placed in the middle of the goal it was an easy shot to block.

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Another dire performance and scraped win. Tho again, they’ll be sellin the ‘ just ‘were’nt at their best today’ pish. How many games will that be then ?

  • Johnny Green says:

Beale came up a bit in my estimation by redeeming a sporting integrity situation that had went bad. His decision to even things up was admirable.

    • Kevan McKeown says:

Aye and also because he had tae. Even he knew it would’ve been scandalous for them tae get a result because of that.

  • Sid says:

The big talking point will be Michael Beales sportsmanship. Yet again the real talking point is the Scottish officials. At what point does this utter farce get called out? The wrestling is more of a genuine sport than our national sport. Celtic fans you’re funding corruption whether you like it or not. History remembers the brave, time to put your morals before your schadenfreude. Power in numbers.

  • Frankie says:

Tillmans cheating performance today should embarrass that lot.

    • Johnny Green says:

I don’t think Tillman was fully aware of what was going on, and in the confusion went for goal and scored. Beale realised the mistake and corrected it.

However the referee checking VAR and still giving a penalty to THEM was certainly cheating and totally unconscionable.

  • Peter cassidy says:

Big surprise ref and var messed up just cheats only in Scotland this farce continues .

  • Scud Missile says:

I know I’m going to get pelters here but surely must be time now to start the boycotting,Jessie James more a mask when he stole things but sevco,it’s now daylight robbery.
Those decisions today in that game are NOTHING compared to what the new klub from ibrox are going to get away with in the final, they are winning that final coming up by hook or by CROOK that cup is theirs.
I warned you all a couple of weeks back about these decisions only getting worse and more OBSCURE in sevco’s favour.
Get the protests done now before it is to late to do so.

    • Johnny Green says:

Scud book, If you want to start boycotting, start by boycotting this forum and give us all peace ya fkn rocket. You said previously that Ange would no longer still be at Celtic Park for the Cup final. It’s getting very close now?

Oh by the way, you can consider that a bite like you always do. Yaaawn.

    • Jamesie says:

Crikey Scud. Talk about over the top. If we had lost a penalty like Colaks I would have been raging. Hate Beale but we’ll done to him. They are a bad lot. Let’s get into them in two weeks and pump them.

  • Martin says:

This isn’t the first penalty given for something outside the box since VAR arrived. The other, of course, being given against Celtic. If the pattern isn’t obvious now, I can’t help…

Thistle gave it a good go today and should serve as inspiration to teams in the league, this sevco team are utterly beatable. By almost anyone (not Hearts, of course)

  • Johnny Green says:

It looks like scud book is prepared to lead off the boycotts and protests, while upsetting the applecart of a an all wining all conquering team, at least up until now that is. Go ahead then scud book, what do you suggest? I’m sure everyone on here will follow you.

Aw naw, I just realised, another bite from me, I really wish I would learn. 🙂

    • Scud Missile says:

Lol our board just love DAFTIES like you, your sitting watching a rigged game and your that THICK you don’t know it.
Come back to me after the cup final after we have lost that final on the same dodgy decisions that sevco got through that match with today.
Lol once again you’ve posted with the thought of me still living rent free in your dome.
Some people would say it’s mind over matter,I don’t mind and you don’t matter.

      • Johnny Green says:

You are living rent free because there is no way I would charge an unemployed person a monetary fee. It’s obvious that someone as stupid as yourself could not hold down a job for very long.

        • Voice of Reason says:

Whit dyi mean very long, this Fukin CLOWN has NEVER worked lol! Go on BENNY hit us with the I don’t mind & u don’t matter Pithy Pun! Ur a HUN Bastard pal, it shines oot yir ARSE just like ur PISHY PATTER!! Too many Pot Noodles & Fray Bentos pies me thinks BAWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

  • Kevan McKeown says:

People comin on here pumpin beale up for his ‘sportsmanship’ and ‘sporting integrity’ need tae get fkn real. Where was his ‘sportsmanship’ wi GVB, or his disrespectful digs at our own manager. Imo he did that today mostly because he had tae. He knew how bad it would look if they had won wi that goal. Sporting integrity my arse. If needs must, mair like.

    • Johnny Green says:

Needs must or not, I didn’t think you could give him a red neck with a blowtorch, but he did the right thing in this instance, much to the disagreement of half of the hun support. Even they though, now that they have won the tie, will be saying it was a class act etc. I know where you are coming from though and the overboard praise he will get is bound to be nauseating in the extreme.

      • Kevan McKeown says:

Ah don’t mind givin credit where its due, even if it is grudged. Tho this guy imo is too egoistic, arrogant and more likely tae be thinkin about the ‘how’s this gonnae look’ perspective than showin real sportsmanship. That today, was too conclusive for him really tae have a choice.

  • Effarr says:

I wonder if that happens in the coming cup final if he will be so charitable.

    • Johnny Green says:

Of course not, it was a calculated gamble, he still though his team would go on and win. Against us he will be happy to accept every underhand trick in the book

  • Stevie Bhoy says:

“Most ridiculous and absurd penalty decisions you’ve ever saw in your life”

Sorry James but when Willie Collum gave them a penalty at Celtic park with his back to the action that was me done.

To give a penalty there must be no doubt in the referees mind that is the rules.
We watched an SFA top grade referee award a penalty in the the country’s highest profile match with his back to the action and give a foul that he did not see.
Please never ever let these instances be forgotten or else we lose sight of the big picture.
It’s been happening for years and it’s not new.
Don’t act surprised. Please catalogue these decisions and highlight them.
You have the platform someone like myself does not. I’m 50 yrs old and Ive watched Celtic all my life this is not new please don’t treat these incidents as the worst you’ve ever seen it’s just another of a very long line of them
To put it bluntly it’s cheating

  • William McGrandles says:

I have watched football for nigh on 60 years and that decision to award that non penalty with the advantage of var left me totally gobsmacked

  • Donald Macintyre says:

Why when they have VAR can the officials make such a shocking decision, clearly outside the box, the mooch saying Tillman is no cheat was shown to be wrong in this one incident. It is no wonder that Celtic and others see a disparity with all officials.
Even with the walk through goal, old father time McGregor still tried to make the Thistle player miss, the mooch didn’t talk about his sportsmanship ?

  • Martin says:

In fairness to the mooch, I’m willing to assume he ordered that because he was genuinely appalled at the actions of his team. That his players were so against it actually just shows they didn’t share his confidence in a victory (and it was a damn close run thing). They’re dugmeat and will collapse soon enough.

That penalty decision was dreadful. The culture at ibrox is showing though, as this the week after Kent booked for a shameful dive. Why are the Ibrox players so keen to try and trick the officials into getting penalties? Do they fear being unable to score from open play?

As for Scotland’s officials…. That’s 2 penalties now I’ve seen given based on incidents outside the box since var. I have no problem with the ref getting this wrong in real time, that’s pretty understandable… But are we seeing the results of a VAR culture that doesn’t look at the basic things like “was it inside the box or outside?” and focuses immediately on whether it was a foul or not? A step back, broaden your view approach would be useful for them. And given it takes about half a second to determine the position, they could easily incorporate it in their 6 minute var checks…

  • Tam says:

Mr Maxwell of the SFA/SPFL said when Jota received the ball he was offside Hawkeye caught it (not received when the ball is played Mr Maxwell) I wonder if Mr Maxwell will explain why the grade 1 referee with all the technology the SFA/SPFL can give him still “cheated” a member club in his very own organization “SFA/SPFL”

  • Michael D says:

A disgrace of a decision, Celtic needs to stop funding this VAR as all its doing is letting Celtic be double cheated.

  • Thomas Daly says:

2012 will ALWAYS GET BENT DECISIONS,look who the var team consists of,nothing to see here, let’s keep making bent decisions for OUR ESTABLISHMENT!
