So much for the lure of Leeds, this “massive club” who are too good for just about any manager not currently in the Premier League to turn down. They targeted the West Brom manager and he said no. Their second target was Andoni Iraola the manager of Vallecano in Spain. Their CEO flew out to Madrid to talk to that guy and his reps a day ago.

And although the press initially reported that he was keen, the word from Spain is that he too is going to turn down the job. Both of those guys have reiterated their commitment to the clubs they are currently at, clubs which if you believe our hacks are much smaller than Leeds.

So, Celtic fans, we have another day of this nonsense to go at the very least. Ange now faces the prospect of having to answer daft questions about it on Friday at his press conference. There is a certain inevitability about this dragging on a while longer.

Not that it matters much. The minute Leeds has a new boss the circus will move on and the media will start speculating on which manager in England has his head on the chopping block next and why Ange would be a perfect fit. He will be linked with every job that is on offer in that league for as long as he is at Celtic Park. Or at least as long as he’s winning.

Think The Mooch will see speculation about his leaving every week? Even if he should actually win something? (More than the manager of the month anyway.) No, of course not. Although it should be remembered that when you are talking about his “integrity” you should start from the premise that he actually doesn’t have any of that in the first place.

We should brace ourselves for more of this nonsense when it comes to the big guy though, because for us this is it for the foreseeable. Leeds will appoint someone soon, and when they do some of our fans will breathe a sigh of relief … but it won’t last because the hacks are intent on making mischief here and they won’t be satisfied until they do.

Have they approached Bradley Walsh yet.Jes doing everything else, they may as well.

  • Johnny Green says:

The simple answer is, that if Ange is asked any leading questions regarding Leeds, he responds with the answer that he is very happy where he is and has no intention of moving elsewhere right now or in the foreseeable future. That should bring the whole speculation thingummy to an abrupt halt right away.

    • Seppington says:

You’ve never read a Scottish paper before, have you? The only thing that will stop the hun hacks from writing about Ange leaving is Ange actually leaving! Then if our next manager shows signs of being a success the circus will begin again! Our meedjits here are as predictable as they are inferior.

One of they hotspot pundits on radio clyde said Leeds are bigger than former European Champions Celtic and Aston Villa. Bollocks. HH

    • harold shand says:

One of the hotspot pundits on that show said that racism is worse now than it was 60 years ago and still has the brassneck to try and mock people who phone in for being thick

  • Jimmy R says:

Nothing to worry about for us. A massive club like Leeds wouldn’t dream of appointing a manager who can’t even win the SPFL Manager of the Month award. Robbie Neilson for Elland Road? ? ?

  • Eire goCeltic says:

Ange has every right to set reasonable rules for his Pressers. 1. The usual request is…All turn off mobile phones and leave, if you need to make a call. 2. Whilst Manager of Celtic, I will not answer any questions relating to me leaving Celtic FC for positions with other football Clubs.

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Yep, and as ye would expect the DR are on it right away. How bad is that ? Don’t think ah can ever remember a media tryin tae unsettle a Celtic manager as much as Ange, even through the Rodgers years. They’re so absolutely obsessed wi him movin it’s embarrassin. Fkn pathetic man.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Bad enough that you read it Kevan. ! – Starve them by not buying or looking online… Let forums like The Celtic Blog report their lies about our club instead !

      • Kevan McKeown says:

@ CATH. Haven’t bought their bogroll papers for donkeys years mate. Ah dae have a read at what they’re sayin online. It’s just a curiosity ahm my own worst enemy for, because all it seems tae dae is piss me off right enough. Don’t think ahm alone there tho.

  • Michael Clark says:

The Celtic boss is always going to be a lure for clubs down South. Just like our players it won’t cost much to buy him out of his contract because its Scotland. If he was at an English club already that would be a different matter. Thankfully it’s going to take a bigger club than Leeds ( Premiership club or not) to get him to leave Celtic. As long as none of the big guns don’t come calling it’ll be business as usual

  • Hunbasha says:

As if all this crap ain’t bad enough, we,ve now got Charlie Nicholas speculating that if Klopp goes at the end of the season, then Ange will be his replacement! Charlie Nicholas, Andy Walker, Davie Provan are all the Judas,s that have been payed 30 pieces of silver to lean towards the tribute act with their comments. Hugh Keevins is another one. I always love it when he predicts the Ibrokes club will win the League. Because he never gets it right.
