BBC Sports Scotland Last Night Was Just A Two Fingered Salute To Celtic Supporters.

Celtic fans watching BBC Sportscene last night got more than they bargained for, eah? We normally expect the panel of three to have two ex-Ibrox men on it, particularly as Steven Thompson anchors the farce. But last night our fans were treated to three of them.

There’s not even the remotest pretence of impartiality with them any longer. That was a flat-out piss take. That was a two-finger salute to our entire support. It was an insult and it’s hard not to believe that it was other than a calculated one.

We joke about this all the time, about how the one qualification required to get a gig there is not intelligence or being capable of breaking down games but having once wore one of the jerseys of Ibrox. Last night they took that to its natural conclusion and I don’t think a single one of us was laughing at how nakedly, brazenly biased that panel was.

And of course their “analysis” reflected that in almost every respect except when Foster briefly got angry over Todd Cantwell’s astonishing bit of playing acting. These people only just stopped short of demanding points deductions for us. Although we’re all by now pretty used to seeing Sportscene behave as though it were merely an extension of SevcoTV they went all in with this one. Most fans I know who watched it were absolutely appalled.

But what do you do about it? As long as the license fee is mandatory we’re screaming into the void. These people have stopped caring what we think. That they can put on such a nakedly partisan panel last night and basically criticise every decision we got when, in fact, Hibs were lucky they finished the game with ten players and we were always going to get the points.

None of them commented on the naked cynicism of the Hibs display, none of them bothered to point out that they wasted so much time that the game lasted over 100 minutes … that’s virtually unheard of unless there’s a serious injury and a lot of on-field treatment. Even with VAR checking everything it shouldn’t get near that.

But according to this panel of ex-Ibrox men, it was the red card – which they thought was undeserved – which killed the game. That and our penalty which they also thought shouldn’t have been given. All objectively analysed of course.

The BBC is under fire from all sides right now, and they needed to put on a show like this the way seals need to swim in the kill-zone of a great white shark. It is an organisation which, as a whole, has given up on its own survival. On this evidence it doesn’t deserve to.

Foster said unchallenged, Starfelt committed a pull a push and a stamp to concede the penalty

  • John L says:

According to this bunch of bum holes and the mooch. Scotland’s poundland var doesn’t flag you offside even if you are offside, if there is no daylight between the two lines, it goes in favour of the attacker, I , if you’re in a blue top and you’re name is not Jota . The BBC are a bunch of corrupt huns.

  • Seamus Campbell says:

Don’t watch it, step away from the bbc, save yourself the license fee.

  • harold shand says:

McCann disagreeing on decisions going for Celtic seem to have become more frequent and louder since the orcs were screaming for his head and for him to be removed from Rangers tv after he had a pop at Morelos

  • Michael Gallagher says:

McCann a little cheat how can that lot even comment on anything please Celtic expose this lot

  • Pan says:

Why don’t you try not paying the licence and not watching TV?
We did this as a family after the 2014 referendum and have never missed it.

  • Finbar muldoon says:

Saw the sakala offside incident. I see var are still using motherwell asda carpark camera. HH

  • Bob (original) says:

Sportscene is the TV equivalent of The Daily Record.

    Neither will be missed.

    🙂

  • Johnny Green says:

Who watched the program anyway, I didn’t and don’t really care what they showed or portrayed. Who in their TV audience did they impress enough to be influenced by their propaganda, at the end of the day it was just meaningless words reaching an apathetic audience. It is instantly forgettable and totally inconsequential. Ignore them, they are totally up themselves and no one else is bothered.

  • Ted McCluskey says:

Don’t watch it ,don’t pay it ,simple…Mon the hoops

  • Michael McCann says:

Every Celtic TV licence paying fan needs to bombard the BBC complaints department and threaten not to pay their licence fee if thousands do that then they’ll have to licence. At the same time stop buying the scum red tops

    • mhiguel66 says:

Michael I used to d exactly that, email them. I got nowhere, all it did was raise the BP higher. In my experience, it’s best to stop paying them immediately, believe me that gets their attention instantly. Save yourself the bother and cut to the chase it’ll end in that anyway. Also, try reading their mission statement, I read approx 3/4 pages into it and was in outrage; impartiality, aye right….

DO NOT PAY THE BBC TO RUB THEIR BIASES IN YOUR FACE, BECAUSE IF YOU STILL PAY, EFFECTIVELY, THAT’S ALL YOUR DOING.

  • Bob L says:

So blatantly biased, probably the worst highlight programme yet. Neil McCann, failed manager, why do BBC Scotland emply him and other ex- rangers, oh, let me guess

  • Bob L says:

Agree with Michael, bombard BBC complaints dept, dont sit back and say, dont pay license fee.

  • SSMPM says:

Can’t agree with you on that one J.G, you can take your own individual approach and that’s fine. For you. For others there’s harm in it, it’s usually directed at us Celtic fans, Catholics, Irish and descendants. Platforms like the national unionist state broadcasters increase the hatred amongst the unwashed and there absolutely no doubt that it has an impact on assaults and the death even of a Polish Celtic fan recently just for wearing a Celtic top. There’s consequences on many decent individuals, buildings, Catholic churches and encourages people to smash up the towns and cities. Maybe you don’t watch it, tbh I rarely do either, but many people do and want to see objective commentary and analysis not bitterness and bile.

  • Ian cruickshank says:

Why do celtic supporter’s and supporter’s of other scotish clubs have to put up with ex sevco players total drivel every week .If its nae the BBC muppets its the scotish press that think there’s only one team called sevco in the spl.

  • Jamesy says:

I have sent a complaint to the bbc about this bigoted ,bitter nonsense of a show , first time I had watched for a while but last night was embarrassing, to listen to this anti celtic drivel , its getting beyond a joke , it’s about time a documentary was made about the whole rotten establishment that is scottish football , the nepotism , the cheating , the corruption ,the threats . Ch4 where are you .

  • Bryan Coyle says:

In any country in the world if you don’t pay your tax you get a jail sentence or a fine. Here you get a gig on Sportscene or Sportsound I refuse to watch or listen to either of these sevco propaganda outlets.

  • Joseph Mcaleer says:

It’s not a criminal offence to be without a licence. And being Mandatory well ,that’s one interpretation. Personally I don’t watch it.

  • Kevan McKeown says:

As ah said in a previous comment, foster was the worst, although the 3 of them were tryin tae highlight any negative point about our team. Carl starfelt was clearly caught and in pain at the first yellow card, foster says ‘ he’s went down as if he’s broken his leg’. Utterly appallinly, biased attitude. Expect nothin less from this fuckin failure tho.

  • Geoff says:

    Bit late to the party.
This happens every time we get a decision that the “media” decide is soft, controversial or game changing.
As soon as they swept over how var gave onside for sevco it was time to switch off.
4-0 game v Sevco they spent most of the few minutes highlights looking at the throw in and if calmac took the free kick for the Jota goal with the ball still moving.
