The Mooch Is Trying To Con The Media Into Thinking His Rebuild Is A Matter Of Choice.

Do you remember The Mooch coming in and telling us that the team at Ibrox is better than the results suggest? That there was not much wrong with their squad? That he was confident that had they not “thrown it away” that we would have been the side scrambling? How long ago it sounds from the spiel he’s laying on the media now.

He’s now talking about rebuilding the squad.

The guy who said he didn’t have enough players now wants to work with less. Remember when he said that the team that got them to the Europa League final should have been trusted with last season’s campaign and that you never move too fast as a manager in changing too much? He now says the opposite.

How can the media take any of this garbage seriously?

Why do they still treat this guy’s words today as if they will still be coming out of his mouth tomorrow?

Why do they give them credence when they must know already he will soon be contradicting it all?

His latest mind-bending interview was to suggest that the club had been intending to rebuild everything in this summer come what may. Nonsense. They have sleepwalked into disaster, they are facing a calamitous situation and are now trying to convince people that it was a matter of choice. He claims none of the soon-to-be out of contract players has had an offer even as he admits that Ryan Jack is considering one right now.

The reason he can sit there with a straight face and claim Morelos and Kent haven’t been made offers since he arrived was that both made it clear many months ago – as Van Bronckhorst freely admitted – that they wanted more than the club could afford. Those guys should have been sold in January, but The Mooch didn’t want to weaken the side whilst he was still promising the fans two domestic cup trophies. That went well, right?

Now he blackmails the board with constant digs about how much Celtic spend and claims to be working with a hand tied behind his back.

But all these things can’t be true at once, and so when he has the brass neck to try and claim that this team is being ripped up because that’s how he wants it, that it’s part of a logical process, I don’t know how anyone can possibly believe it.

That club is not rebuilding by choice, but because they have gotten themselves into a right mess and they’re scrambling to try and figure out how to solve it. They are acting as if they are relaxed that a number of their key players are walking out the door.

Celtic directors were pulling their hair out over just one player – Dedryk Boyata – leaving on a free some years back, and the media was hammering us for it.

They are about to lose their best forward and the guy some of the press corps claim is the country’s best player – for nothing.

And that’s not a serious problem?

That’s not a sign of raging dysfunctionality and unprofessionalism?

No, The Mooch says that this is all part of the Grand Master Plan … and apparently they believe it.

These people would buy the Kingston Bridge a hundred times over.

I think you’re right, enforced re-building. Worse to come, though, as they scour the continents for free agents.
