So the Luis Palma signing has been delayed.
No big deal some will say, because after all we still have a couple of days to get the deal over the line, so there’s really no hurry is there? Well actually, yes, of course there is because if this guy had been signed last week all the paperwork would have been in place by now and he would have at least a little time to train with the rest of the first team squad.
It’s all well and good saying they can’t be blamed for red tape and paperwork … but if they did these deals quicker then all that would be behind us already and this guy would be a little more integrated.
As it stands he’s going to have precisely none of that.
This is the board at its finest. These people have been doing this, and getting away with it, for years. Their disregard for the management team, the coaches and the rest of the team would take your breath away.
After we lost to Kilmarnock it was blatantly obvious that we needed bodies in the door. An entire week of foot-dragging resulted in not one new player coming in to get time to gel with the rest of the team before St Johnstone.
Now we’re set to go again, and leave deals to the last second, giving the manager the ghastly choice of throwing in players alongside guys they’ve only just met or making do with what we’ve got.
This board is so lax, so arrogant that it does not believe that the needs of the team or the manager matter. Their attitude towards Brendan Rodgers is literally that he should make do, whilst they take their sweet time to get deals completed.
This is the kind of rampaging egotism which has cost us Champions League qualification games. It has cost us league points, and this season already it has arguably cost us a place in the League Cup. We are going to Ibrox without a clue which team we’ll be able to put out.
Palma should have had a least a couple of days to train alongside his team-mates.
He should have had a chance to get his feet under him. He cannot possibly be ready to start at Ibrox, and neither will any of the other players if we’ve got any sense and this is because we also have a board which doesn’t care about delays which don’t affect them, and which is far enough removed from the team on the pitch that they frankly couldn’t give a toss what state that team is in.
The board is a absolute joke, everytime we think the club’s going a step forward and in a strong position the board get involved and it’s two steps back complete embarrassment of a board thay don’t give a fk about the team or the fans.
Under Ange, we seemed to make our signings quickly – even before the window opened –
and the first we heard of the targets’ names they were already signed.
[Well that’s how it seemed anyway: a huge improvement on how we did business.]
The only personnel change this transfer window is that Ange has been replaced.
All the other staff who are involved in transfers-in are still there, I believe?
So, what’s gone wrong?
Looks like there has been a very deliberate change to the way we do business?
I wonder who would want to meddle in the previously, smooth running of the
transfers-in processes…?
🙁
Is this the latest stunt, before the shit hits the fan, intentional espionage or are Desmond’s Ditherers running to form, “we will wait and see”, pans out again.
Just a wee reminder James ; that St Johnstone team on Saturday had 3 loan players brought in, just days before facing us and all 3 managed fine , even helping the team get its first league point.
Lawwells Out!
Board has done a wonderful job since the turn of the century
Certainly starting to look that way James.
Having a healthy bank balance and ignoring team affairs, won’t appeal to our support and has the potential to blow up spectacular in the face of the board members.
An arrogant approach has been taken to a fair degree already, only highlighted by not even getting in another CB as of yet, with such a crisis in the position still ongoing.
If there is such delays over getting palma over and somewhat prepared for the weekend, does that mean we are only really in the market from England to try and get players in now?
All new players and established players at that should have been in before a competitive ball was kicked. Why are Celtic supporters surprised? No real football ambition. Just a creche to buy young, improve and sell on.
He’ll walk away again, lawell is probably pulling the strings we desperately need defensive cover and a scot brown figure in the middle of the park to give us a bit of dig because it’s powder puff at the moment
Back to the old days, before Ange. Not wanting to spend any money, so DD and his cronies get the 6pc profit, on the preferred shares they have.
DD has always run the show with his 20 pc share ownership. Not delivered on any of his visions, since taking control, when Fergus went. What happened to him getting us in to the EPL, where all the money is.
My opinion, he has always rinsed the Celtic community. And won’t back BR, running the show like he is back in Dublin, as a barrow boy. Hh.
As you’ve already said james time for some fan reaction boycott the CL games and let these clowns running OUR club that were finished with their pish and now we mean fcukin business
Lol I have been screaming for the boycotting of ganes and merchandise but got laughed at and hounded out of this blog and others.
I reckon LIEWELL MCVITTIE us playing a blinder here knowing he can get away with nickel&dime players coming, all more money for him and the other conmen on the board to pocket, and we laugh at the sevco klub ripping off their support ours is worse.
But hey I now blame the fans for showing up every week and selling out champions league games,MCVITTIE the biscuit man will then see they don’t have to do anything to resolve the CRISIS as the DOUGHBALLS are still parting with their cash, and he is LAUGHING all the way to bank, with £3.4 million of every year KERCHINH£.
I’m totally pissed off with our clubs transfer ‘strategy’. Same thing every window from the same penny pinching ‘custodians. Charlatans the lot of them.
Celtic have made a lazy appointment and with that the usual shambolic transfer dealings. Hanging the manager out to dry. If this is the best they can do after a breath of fresh air management. It was obvious that some of ange signings won’t want to play in Brendan’s style. I suspect Sherlock Holmes needs a call to investigate. We should have been able to push on with the platform already in place. Yet again injury pile up as per Rogers first stint at club. Who is keeping this squad in tip top condition? Mr Desmond & Mr Lawell what is going on????
Once again you are right in most supporters eyes .
The feeling you get is that it is an almost toxic atmosphere around CELTIC PARK -AGAIN
If that is true there has to be an explanation.
But you cannot fix guesswork. Only with the truth can we move forward and rectify the situation.
Unfortunately, the truth is rarely allowed to surface at our football club
The board Minus MN sticking it to DD coz BR was not their choice. BR sticking it to the board plays a weak team and goes media part 2.
It’s almost as if there’s someone back in Celtic park pulling a Jim farrey, trying ti gee sevco every help they can.
How many windows have we been trying ti sign 3-4 players, but it’s one at a time ant the one that should have been on weeks ago, inexplicably gets dragged out until a day or so before deadline, so no one else is signed….
Ahh, Pedro the petty Hun, you’re good at what yi do, Al gee yi that, an sevxo must feel so happy their biggest asset is back.
I don’t think it’s simple to get someone to leave their job and move house from one country to another in the space of a week. I certainly could do it and I don’t know many people who could.
The manager should just be getting on with his job. And start using players in the squad.
Ange did it, bar one or two that have left.
Yes, injuries can take it’s toll, not an excuse.
Brendan needs to start managing and getting the best out of the players he has, and start using the players that he seems to disregard.
And if those players – who he DID NOT PICK – happen to be garbage?
What then?
Palma is not being signed for one game against the huns, he is being signed for the whole season and beyond,. So let’s not rush him into playing at Ibrox, we can cope without him for the time being and he should be eased in gradually to get the best out of him. Sunday will take care of itself and hopefully we will get reinforcements in this week for the season ahead.
Rodgers would only curb his ability and play him in defence to pass back or sideways. The Rat looks like he’s towing the line now with working with whatever he’s given. The Club needs a clear-out from board to management.
