It Is Ibrox Arrogance To Think The Title Will Come Down To Games Versus Celtic.

The ex-Ibrox hacks have been floating their latest title race theory, and I am particularly pleased with it. They think that the league title race will come down to their games against Celtic. Oh how that would be satisfying. How good that would turn out for us.

Because, of course, we’ve won the last two of them. Which means a draw from the final two would make us champions. And I think we’ll do a damned sight better than manage a draw. When it comes to the crunch this team usually shows up. I don’t think they have it in them to beat us. Having beaten them twice already it’s the one thing I’m still convinced of.

This sophomoric argument is offered at least once a season. It has never been true. Each team in the league plays 38 games, and it is your form over all of those games which determines your fate. They have dropped points in games other than against us, and we have dropped points in games other than against them.

In fact, I’m pretty pissed off that we’re not at least six points clear which we would be if this stupid theory of theirs have any truth to it at all.

They really do love to talk their nonsense, and that’s all this is. The league will be won in dropped points against the other clubs; it almost always is, and this is one of the things that worries Celtic fans as we presently look more likely to do that, based on current form.

But it will be this which gets someone’s noses in front … beyond that point a win over them would be the coup de grace more than it would be a critical moment.

In the end, I hope it does come down to the fixtures between the clubs because that would virtually put the title in our hands. But the idea is arrogance and egotism, it’s Ibrox’s way of dismissing every other club in the league, as if all they have to do is turn up to win these games. That they believe this should not be a surprise; it’s virtually an article of faith with them.

As I said the other day, one of the few things we can rely on about Ibrox is its rampant superiority complex. This is why they believe these things, and this has led to their downfall in past campaigns. Here’s hoping they are repeating the old mistakes.

Certainly, their media allies are.
