Celtic With The Chance To Go Four Clear On Saturday As The Dundee Game Is Off Again.

callum

Celtic has a good chance of ending this weekend still top of the SPFL. In fact, come Saturday night we could be four points clear at the top. This is because the Ibrox club’s game with Dundee has been called off, yet again, due to the state of the Dens Park pitch.

Celtic, by the way, has tried to lend a hand to make sure the game got played; we loaned Dundee pitch covers at the weekend, and they were using pitch covers today, although whether they were ours or not isn’t quite clear. Footage showed them coming off the pitch, but the nature of the weather in Dundee is sufficiently bad that the game won’t go ahead.

Dundee has issued a statement saying the game will be played next midweek; the game should initially have been played in the free midweek they had prior to us going to Ibrox, but of course that didn’t suit certain people.

There will be pressure on Dundee to move the fixture from their home ground, especially if there seems to be a threat from the weather; Dundee should resist that at all costs, and with this title race on the ragged edge so should we.

Any effort to move this game should be fought, vocally, and aggressively by our club as well as the home team. You can’t have that. Dundee is in the top six, so teams will have to go there and play games, it’s as simple as that. We are due to go there, so the idea of moving the game to accommodate the wishes of one club should be an absolute non-starter.

But none of that matters as we move into the weekend, all that matters is that we now have a chance to move four clear and put the pressure on the Ibrox club, who face two away matches in the space of a week with Scottish Cup football to come.

Now it’s up to us to make it count and ramp that pressure up on them.
