The end of the week usually brings some odd football story, but last night brought one that was not odd in the slightest.
The news that the club at Ibrox, with the biggest wage bill in the country, which can afford the little inconveniences that other clubs would sweat over, and which once had all sorts of pretensions about “dignity” and the like, is trying to screw a five figure sum out of Dundee; that story is not odd. It is demeaning and kind of grubby.
What kind of Peepul run that organisation over there?
The idea that this has harmed them financially in any way is preposterous. They weren’t significantly put out by this, the costs to their club over it are miniscule.
This is nothing to do with money. This is an act of spite. This is petty, chickenshit nonsense from a club obsessed by minor grievances.
Away match travel? Take a tax deduction like every other club.
The costs are only so high because they feel like they are something special and “need” to spend their time at a luxury hotel; other clubs do just fine in the local Travelodge, and if Dundee decide to pay them their expenses, they should pay them at that sort of subsistence level.
But I’m more hoping that Dundee tells them to get stuffed entirely.
This is not standard practice. Dundee should not have to foot their bill. Games get cancelled. It happens all the time. I have never heard of another club have the arrogance or vindictiveness to demand costs incurred for it. It’s pathetic. It’s the sort of thing only they would do. Dundee has already copped record fines for it; the SPFL has been no less ridiculous in the over-reaction of their punishment. It is typical of Ibrox to pile on.
What this is really about, of course, is revenge. For what their club perceives as Dundee’s sins of the past – this garbage about the notorious lost email again – and the one in the present, which is basically their own failure to win the match when it was finally played.
This is them lashing out at Dundee because their own manager is better at talking a good game than delivering the goods.
That’s all this is. This is payback for Dundee taking a point.
And you know what? Everyone in Scottish football who is watching this knows that’s what it is.
It is Ibrox doing what the clubs at Ibrox do; “settling scores”, unable to simply move on, a club which cannot just co-exist with the rest but has to try to dominate and bully … it’s absolutely ghastly to look at from the outside, and it doesn’t project strength.
In fact, it screams weakness. Small-mindedness. A lack of class.
It screams “We Are The Peepul and you will bow down!”
But nobody bows down any longer. Nobody is impressed by this giant squealing over-inflated egotism, this kind of liberty-taking, this goonish strutting about.
It reeks of everything bad in our game, and it serves to reduce their list of potential friends.
If they think there’s some advantage to that, well more fool them.
Maybe if they’d played the game on e first available date there might not have been a prob let
I think they still have to play Dundee on Tuesday 14th May at Liebrox…
And while I certainly hope Celtic have The League wrapped up by the time that game takes place (ideally v Sevco at Paradise) – Just how hilarious would it be if it was defeat at Liebrox to Dundee that handed Celtic the title…
They would be irate with fury and hatred and rage –
Perhaps Dundee could be their new Aberdeen for East coast hatred…
Well C’mon The Bonnets o’ Bonnie Dundee – Youse have a multitude of motivation now for sure !!!
Did they ever pay the water bill for the nearby Church they were syphoning water off?
despicable cheapskate cheating bastards…the board, the team and their poxy bigoted fans….
Spot on!!!!
36 large and change theRangers want as compensation ? How did they travel from Govanland to Dundee…via Dubai with a stopover in the South of France ? Is the biscuit tin empty already ?
It’s everyone else’s fault that the first club at Ibrokes , died!
Since the birth of Phoenix club, Sevco, the mission has been, to try and wreak some sort of revenge, on those that they feel are responsible for their former club’s, demise.
Obviously forgetting the multi millions that were owed to multiple creditors, including the poor face painter!
Like a reckless Lotto millionaire winner, they’ve spent money, they don’t have, chasing a dream they’ll never reach.
Are they now so skint, that they’re chasing money for accommodation…in a city, 2 hours drive away ?
Maybe the face painter will now get his/her money and be asked to do clown faces for the whole squad.
They would then blend in with those on the Ibrokes board!
In all seriousness, you could not mark their necks with a blow torch !
What about the night when there was a powder of snow in a televised game at their
dump when the game had to be abandoned because they couldn`t afford to turn on the
underfloor heating? And what about the face painter? I wonder how much they will charge
Celtic for cuffing them next week. They would be entitled to the £60 million if Celtic dare
score a few goals against them
This is outrageous, they have learned no lessons from the previous club who went out of business owing millions and failing to pay hard working people who supplied goods and services to them.
Their arrogance knows no bounds.
Appeasement techniques to Appease the sevco zombie hoard peepul that are too stupid to see it is nothing more than a distraction to keep them onside as they’ve been playing shite for weeks.
Led by the nose right enough.
And yet,and yet, the rest of Scottish Football look upon us as twin brother of the Ibrox outfit. That to me proves that they are complicit in the hatred of Celtic FC. If they have not recognised the difference between our club and the hate filled mob at Ibrox over both their histories, then it proves how narrow minded and ignorant most of Scottish football is.
They knew the game might be cancelled but instead they went to Dundee the night before.
If you ask me it was a deliberate pre-planned ploy to try this stunt.
Because it’s not like nobody in Glasgow knows it’s only an hour and a half’s drive between the two cities so they could easily have left in the morning.
Lowlifes is all they are and that sour faced wee chairman of theirs will almost certainly be behind this scam.
I would put a question about them paying big wages, but then them and there media friends see them as top dogs, but one thing I will give them credit is for there supporters who have came forward I made there stadium look very impressive, as for Celtic Park a huge upgrade is long overdue
