The Village Idiot is always amusing. He is especially amusing when his anger and his bitterness shows. I think he kept a grip on himself, for the most part, during the end of the season run-in, when it became clear to most sensible people that Celtic was powering towards a double, and I suppose if we’re being fair, we have to give credit where it’s due.
He’s had a difficult start to the summer too, what with the news that his club will not have their stadium available for the first few games of the campaign. If I were him, if I were any of them, I’d be bracing myself for a much bigger wait before any of them are in Ibrox.
Today he’s talking about how the return of Celtic fans to Ibrox next season will actually help the home team. I laughed reading that, and not just because it presumes that Ibrox will be ready by then. (If it isn’t then more than just the project manager will be heading out the door.) He’s saying that having 100% of their own fans in the ground actually went against them because when the team wasn’t playing well they turned their anger onto them.
He reckons that anger would have been less had our fans been in the stadium, because their fans could have directed it at us instead. Do not look for sense in that. This is what we call Sevco Logic, the twisting of unreality into a shape which suits them, an effort to get something utterly ridiculous to sound as if it adds up. It doesn’t.
Neil Doncaster spoke today and he’s made it clear that this isn’t a done deal anyway. As this site predicted when the “deal” was announced, there is a heavy caveat in there about the need for Celtic to be satisfied that Ibrox is going to be safe for our fans before we’ll hand over an allocation to theirs and Doncaster has confirmed that there is still “work to be done”. That should be sobering for those who simply presume that away fans will be at these games.
The reason we’re here in the first place is that the Ibrox club got so frustrated at watching our fans celebrate beating them that they bowed to the pressure in their own stands to limit our numbers. This geezer thinks having thousands of us back in their ground will somehow have a positive impact on them. What a joke. He clearly doesn’t think this stuff through.
But this, after all, is why we call him The Village Idiot in the first place.
The Ibrox fans are notorious for turning on their team, and I doubt that having Celtic fans in the ground to scream hatred at would have made a whole lot of difference to their reaction when we won there in the early game last season, or when we got the 3-3 draw that kept the title race where we wanted it – in our own hands.
This is why banning Celtic fans was futile in the first place; look at the results since they did it. What benefit has it brought them? None at all. This is the ultimate blind-spot for these Peepul … and The Village Idiot just doesn’t get it at all. Their team isn’t good enough. That’s the problem. Not the makeup of the crowd in the stands.
spot on james i have e mailed sevco sky and other gutless sports media saying the very same things that you have pointed out in this latest embarrassment . why did sutton not take him to task he has enough ammo to blow this imposter out the water or is he just content to take pity and go along with the new double act ?.
I would love to meet this guy since I have a shit load of magic beans to sell.
Tbh it might be true. Can see how a team, would actually gain that extra bit of incentive tae win against their biggest rivals, knowin they’re doin it with the opposite support there in attendance. It’s a ‘spiteful’ mindset thing, tho it probably works tae an extent. Personally couldnae care less, if it stayed home games for home fans only in these fixtures.
If / when the Glasgow derby is next played at ibrox,
our Board could hire a Health & Safety firm [from outside Scotland of course],
to do an assessment of ibrox,
and the risks to CFC supporters, players and staff.
Is this stadium development going to address any of the problems CFC encountered
in the past? Doubt it.
Should be an easy one:
safety at ibrox hasn’t been improved / can’t be guaranteed.
Therefore, no tickets taken for ibrox – or given for Parkhead?
The only time they’ve laid a glove on us when it mattered was when there were no fans in the ground. So mibbe this is why they royally fookd their stadia upgrade, secretly hoping they can play us behind closed doors, chortle 🙂
I think he maybe means, they would have a better chance, if there was no home fans as was the case in the covid season ?
I’m looking forward to the SMSM scoops’ predictions as to who they will expertly predict shall win what this coming season ? I’m guessing that a small hurdle like a stadium being shut down wont be a problem for a lot of the usual suspects hacks to pick theRangers for at least the league title ….easy peasy ..lemon squeezy !
Kris Boyd is a prick.
A prick can be a useful thing – But Kris Boyd certainly bloody well isn’t for sure !!!
The worrying thing for me is that I feel like I am starting to get to grips with the hun mind and the warped way it works. Maybe I need to take an extended break from social media ???
