Celtic Fans Marvel As Dessers Becomes The Latest Player To Run The Famous Ibrox Mouth.

It has become so common you could set your watch to it.

With the regularity of Celtic producing a dreadful transfer window, you can virtually place your bets on someone from Ibrox running off at the mouth. Their new signing did it the other day, and now it’s the turn of one of the first team regulars from the last campaign; amazingly, it’s Cyriel Dessers, a player they’re trying to get rid of.

The club is an undisciplined mess, as this site has pointed out over and over again. A halfway smart manager would have gotten a grip on all this mouthing a long time ago, but especially in players who most of the fans want to see out the door and do not trust.

And yet I get the impression that there are other people to blame for this one. Andy Newport of The Record is following the club around on their “tour” and he seems to have been the one who has asked the question. The question itself is such a landmine that the club should be barring anyone from asking it, and the players certainly should not be answering it.

It’s as if a guy who has been knocked around the carpark is challenging the guy who has resoundingly beaten him to a rematch and telling everyone stood watching that he’s going to win. Who does something that stupid? Who invites further punishment?

They can’t cope with the ordinary pressures of an ordinary title race, and this one starts off with them on the back foot and under more scrutiny than at any time last season … with half of them, him included, knowing he’ll be out the door the minute a bid comes in which the club feels it can accept and not lose face. He would be gone already if initial interest from Turkey came off. They still hope for a Saudi Arabian miracle which is yet to come.

But all this does is piles pressure on narrow shoulders which we already know can’t cope with it. Are they thick or what? Why does the club permit it? Instead of trying to deflect the pressure, they are inviting it. It’s incomprehensible, and to cap it off, Dessers is absolutely the worst player to be trying to carry this message, and I looked around Facebook last night and every Celtic fan was howling with laughter over this. No wonder.

This is becoming like a running joke now, and it’s not projecting confidence which I know is the intent.

They have no reason to be confident.

It’s arrogance. They really do believe the famous “theory of the pinstripes” – that teams who play them quiver at the name “Rangers” although that club died a long time ago. And to an extent there are managers and teams who do get the fear … until they realise that really there’s not all that much to fear from this lot.

Towards the end of last season, once the illusion that they were something special shattered, other teams realised they could, in fact, take points off them, and some of them raised their games and did just that. Their problem is that once that aura of invincibility went it was never coming back, not under this guy, and that will haunt them into the coming season.

And that will shut this guy’s mouth, and the mouths of everyone at the club. For a while anyway.

A 4-4 draw against a superb German side, who finished 15th out of 18 teams in the past season, is surely another Moral victory that entitles them to be proud and give them due cause for bragging rights. PMSL. 🙂

Meanwhile back at Celtic Park, Brendan prepares the Champions for the season ahead, what additional resources he will be allocated is anyone’s guess, as supporters we wait more in hope than expectation. As an unwelcome aside to the excellent tour of America and in particular the drubbing of Chelsea is that the profile of Brendan himself is greatly enhanced and reminders placed in front of the Chelsea hierarchy. I do not believe he would contemplate leaving us again before another two years of achievement. That could be coincidental with the time of the new Chelsea manager being up. Our board could lose Brendan in two years time the way things are going.

They’ll be ready to compete for 3rd or 4th place IMO even with their 12th man VAR.

We’ve had Sam Lammers and Cyril Dessers.

What next: Hun Scammers, Spam Fritters, Bed Wetters or Odd Jobbers?

A really strange lot the huns.

The only problem is that we also have a massive weakness which could ultimately be our undoing. It is the Celtic Board.

I’m not sure if Sevco have a weekly mag ‘The Sevco View’ like we do / did…

If they do – it’d be less biased towards it’s own 12 years old and 0 days club than that Rancid Record…

Well certainly from what’s reported on here otherwise I’d never know !
