It’s fair to say that as a seasoned watcher of the Ibrox club, very little surprises me these days. But if today’s bizarre news story out of there is even remotely accurate, then we’ve reached a whole new level of weirdness even for them.
Just when you think you’ve heard it all, something like this comes along and knocks you for six. The picture this paints of the dysfunction at Ibrox is absolutely mind-bending.
According to Ibrox fan media sources, their central defender Propper, who was notably missing at the second goa, was out of position because he moved up front after the opener. This move was so tactically inept it’s the kind of thing managers should get sacked for.
But this tactical blunder? It’s even worse than it sounds. In fact, according to reports, it was the player, and not the manager, who made that suicidally bad decision.
If that hasn’t sunk in yet, let me put it another way.
The defender told the manager he was moving up the pitch, and the manager allowed him to do it. No discussion, no strategic thinking. The player decided on his own to change the team’s tactics, and the head coach went along with it. It cost them the second, and decisive, goal.
I know this sounds too ridiculous to be true, but according to an Ibrox podcaster who has close ties to the club, that’s an absolute fact.
If that’s the kind of thing happening at Ibrox—players taking massive tactical gambles while the manager watches—it suggests that club is in a much worse state than any of us thought. And you’ve got to ask yourself: Is Clement really in charge of the dressing room or not?
This isn’t the only sign that Ibrox players feel they can bypass the manager whenever they please.
This blog and others have written about Jack Butland and his little tête-à-tête with the chairman on the recent flight to Poland. To me, and others, that was a chat that should have been had with the manager. Bypassing him to discuss business with the top guy shows a casual disrespect for the Clement which is clearly unhealthy at any football club.
The more you hear, the more you wonder just how bad things are over there. And just how crazy things could yet get. If Clement doesn’t have the respect of his own players, he’s finished. Even if he still has it now, if he allows players to simply make their own decisions and do whatever they like, he won’t have it for long.
This guy hasn’t even hit his one-year anniversary at Ibrox yet, and already he’s flailing like a drowning man. His press conference last night after the game was positively surreal, especially when he was asked to explain why the club posted and then deleted a video of Danilo barely able to walk to his seat on the bench.
Clement first denied that it was a recent clip, then offered the incredible explanation that the player “has always walked like that,” which even had the Ibrox fan media expressing utter amazement, and they usually swallow anything.
The disquiet among their supporters is now very, very real indeed. What most of them can’t believe is that their club has just given this guy an extended contract with whatever guarantees are in there for a big payoff, should they have to sack him this season.
That prospect is looking more likely by the day. To say their club is not in a good place right now is an epic understatement. Clement doesn’t look like part of the solution, and the fact that the directors are apparently standing by their man is a clear-cut sign that they themselves are absolutely clueless about how to navigate the trouble they’ve gotten into.
This was the manager who was supposed to bring a steady hand, forward-thinking ideas, and build a fast, attractive, attack-minded team. He was meant to instil discipline and leadership at a club that was sleepwalking from one disaster to another. But already he looks as if he might be responsible for the most spectacular collapse of all.
The new klub at ibrox playing out of Hunden is ready to collapse with rumours now doing the rounds ADMIN is just round the corner
Apparently £45 million of debt has been built up with signs of cash to pay this back, looks like another visit to the graveyard for this doppelganger klub of Rangers.
So it’s it ‘The The Rangers’ or ‘The Rangers Rangers’ or ‘The Sevco’
Regardless – That Lying Bar Stewart Doncaster will say it is the same club – ABSOLUTELY, ABSOLUTELY !
What about Surreal Dessers how is he feeling going to work ,knowing the fans hate him.and He them…..ice cream and jelly please.
Just gets better.
The manager and mental cerce at the end arguing with the ref. What good is that.
Ok Mr Clemente tell you what we will do, next goal the winner!! FFS.!
Manager churn at Ibrox has been identified as one cause of their problems according to their Chairman.
It has to end somewhere and Clements is het.
If players don’t like it then ship them out and recruit players who are prepared to play a part in a very long haul.
Ach – No to worry That old Radio Clyde guy Keevins says that Filip Flopp is the bees knees so all will be just fine and well then…
Actually I’m extracting the urine which Hoops supporters will fine well understand as we are a pretty clever bunch after all…
But to the lurking Sevco Huns I’d better rephrase it what it is – I’m taking the piss !
On the very topic there’s a disgruntled Sevvy on Clyde Superscoreboard at the minute going irate about this…
Magnificent schadenfreude listening indeed – Pity Miller wasn’t on but anyway I’ll just finish off by saying that I guess he wasn’t a ‘Propper’ striker last night – He, He, He, He !
Brilliant m8 , the popcorn went down a treat last night even though the last 10 minutes I couldn’t stop laughing while eating it .
Long may the unrest and distrust continue James.
Just listing to one of their deluded fans on Clyde say that Connor baron was the best player on the pitch. Lmao.
Also heard that the new lifts for the disabled section at crumble dome have arrived but the doors are the wrong way round.
Sevco 2012. The gift that keeps on giving
I just want to say, and it’s important James, that the new huns are NOT even a club. It’s another crucial pointer to discredit the continuation lie.
Sevco was formed, and intended to replace Rangers FC (1872/3), as part of a shocking, corrupt lie in which Lawwell and Desmond MUST have had a part. Ditto Eric Riley who was sent the same email as Lawwell, including the 5-Way Agreement. 6-Way if you include Celtic, as you should.
Let’s just go back to Friday 27th July 2012. That’s the day after the 5-Way was emailed to participating clubs at around 9.00PM and stating that, not verbatim, “if no dissenters then it was agreed by all by 10.00 AM on 27th. Clearly there were no dissenters. But what about the manner in which it was done, hasty or what? Sent at 9.00 PM one evening to be accepted by 10.00 AM next day. Professional? Naw, only in Scotland.
So, due to the 5-Way abomination, Sevco Scotland Limited could play Brechin on 29th July, pretending to be The Rangers Football Club Limited which Sevco changed its name to on 31st July. There is/was NO CLUB. Just a company that changed its name but, crucially, after that company had played Brechin on 29th July. FACT!
I did that above without reference to any documents as I know exactly what happened and it needs to be continually shouted out by Celtic (and others in Scotland) to prove that the monstrosity concocted to replace Rangers FC is nothing more than a HUGE lie and not even a football club as it had NO HISTORY of football before 29th July 2012.
HH to an honest football club with unbroken history, The Famous Glasgow Celtic FC.
Great work and Great Post TicToc !
Yep I had the old teletext (blast from the past -eh) on 29-7-2012 and it stated clearly…
Brechin City v The Rangers…
Wish that I had the technical savvy to have screenshotted it at the time –
However I’ve managed to screen shot and print off the newspaper headlines of the previous month in the middle of June and they’re very very useful evidence indeed…
Back in the days when The Scottish Media was occasionally honest – unlike now from what I see on all the forums for I sure as night follows day ain’t buying them or looking online…
No – Not even today, though Clyde Superscoreboard was pretty enjoyable, Shame they wheeled out Simon Donnelly and not an ex Sevco player though they’re all probably in a padded cell for their own wellbeing today !
Haven’t seen many column inches on Dessers and his meltdown at his own fans or have I misunderstood it?
When I read the headline and intro to this article I was sure it would be about Danilo, not Propper. It could’ve been either really but the rumour that Clement put Danilo on the bench, knowing he wasn’t fit, to hide how weak the squad is was rebuffed with… he always walks like that! Hahaha. Ever since they signed him he’s been limping so I can see why they might think that.
As for Barron, the fact he hasn’t completely given up and runs a bit has them convinced he’s brilliant, what a low bar.
He’s not a ‘propper’ defender then is he?
(…coat is already on, taxi waiting outside!)
They may well have won 1 of their first 4 competitive games this season, but it’s 1 win in their last 10games! This run includes the Scottish Cup Final, a 3-3 draw at Tynecastle & 4 pre-season friendlies.
