Idah Being On The Bench Means Nothing Except This Abysmal Celtic WIndow Drags On.

“News” today that Norwich have stuck Adam Idah on the bench is being reported as if this is a dramatic development in this pathetic, months long non-effort on the part of this club to do one of two things; close this deal or walk away from it and move on to somebody else. That’s we’re still here is no-one’s fault but ours.

Tomorrow, we’re going to field Matt O’Riley against Hibs. He won’t start on the bench, and the chances are that he’ll play the full 90 minutes. That does not mean that nobody is going to purchase Matt O’Riley or that our club won’t have on the first plane somewhere if we get an offer which meets our magic number.

It will mean exactly nothing, just as the Norwich decision to name Idah in their squad means nothing and that I long since grew weary and pissed off by this whole ludicrous saga should be evident.

But I also consider it dangerously stupid on top of that, because if they continue to insist on their price we’re heading for a point where we’re too late to pivot to another target and it is breath-taking how blasé some in our support and at the club appear to be about that very obvious risk.

That something has gone very seriously wrong at our club over this summer is pretty readily apparent, and whilst I realise that nobody everybody is fully ready to face that fact, it becomes clearer with every day that passes and if this window ends and we’re still in this scandalous position – weaker than when last season ended remember – them even those still in denial are going to have to face some hard facts.

At the moment there’s nothing to see at all here. There’s nothing happening except for the tumbleweed blowing across the Celtic Way. I have no hope for a successful window now, I am bracing myself for how bad it’ll be.

Think apart from the board defenders, we’re all feelin the same way. And btw, failure in this window, isn’t only goin tae get us once again hugely embarrassed in Europe, it’s also a sign of just how much this board are underestimatin ibrox domestically. That could easily fly back in their faces big time. It’ll be astonishin neglect, fuelled by greed and arrogance.

Norwich were struggling and brought Idah on because they needed a goal, that doesn’t sound like surplus to requirements so we only get him by offering Norwich what they ask for, same as O’Riley, there’s a number. Except Celtic can’t afford to not get Idah now. We’ve put ourselves in a bad position needlessly. So annoying

    Afternoon James

Could once again hit the nail on the head, its nothing short of scandalous, they treat you guys with contempt and a lesser degree myself (who was once ardent and passionate until I became an expat). And the signing of Schmeichel on a free. I have said many times over the last couple of months if they want to be a big club Start Acting Like One.

Unfortunately I don’t think our case is gonna be helped by Norwich City capitulating to a scoreless defeat to Championship New Kids On The Block Oxford United !

It will be a travesty if this proves to be the case. I still don’t think it will be the case but it is clearly apparent to me that we didn’t have specific targets and that’s just bad management.

Last night I watched the EFL highlights and, according to the commentators, there was more than a few teams who have (like the huns) bought willy nilly (MK Dons started with 7 new players after a successful 2nd half of last season) and paid the price with a 2-1 home defeat to Bradford City.

However, there were also teams who, like Celtic, are cutting it fine. Portsmouth, for example, who definitely need to strengthen after being promoted from the 3rd tier to the Championship. They got a very creditable 3-3 draw away to Leeds and were unlucky not to win it.

The point I am making here is stablity over upheaval any day of the week. I do accept the gripes (and always have). I would just like to give it another 3 weeks before making an assertion that there is something seriously wrong at the club. I’ll make that assertion when we go into the CL with a team that hasn’t been strengthened and when Brendan makes it clear that he was thwarted by the board. I just don’t really understand why that would be the case, though. It doesn’t make sense.

BTW. I want you to know that I am happy you and others are flagging it. I don’t think Celtic fans are being unreasonable to expect investment in the squad. We all want the same thing. Celtic reigning supreme and the huns vanquished. Again.

Abysmal window? Really? You’re like a kid who wants every toy he sees in the shop. Mummy, Mummy, can I have this… Mummy, Mummy, can I have that…

The likelihood is – as many others have said elsewhere – that the club are sifting through available options trying to find value for money. This is, at best, a second rate football nation. Celtic [NB a collective noun, so it takes the plural] don’t have the financial clout of other teams in other countries. In order to splurge money like you keep demanding and to ‘make a difference’ Celtic would need access to 10 times what they actually have.

However, don’t allow rational thought deter you from tub thumping, and please do feel free to continue censoring comments that aren’t sufficiently fawning.

Here we are second game into the season and the only transfer talk is about Matt O’Rielly. We have listened to the usual bullshit that has come out of Celtic Park about Brenden Rodgers searching for quality yet thats what the board are allowing to leave. I’m so disappointed because deep down I know I’ve had enough. This attitude from this present board is never going to change because they know that we will turn up regardless of who they put on the park. They’ve sickened me and broke my enthusiasm, what is the point. What a difference from the team Ange Postecoglou put out there, I would never have thought it would come to this.

  • Darren Kerr says:

They are miles apart on Idah deal. The fact they have no other decent options that we know of is a fiasco. I’ve said it before etc etc It will be two loans on the last day. They are pushing for development on the squad players we have, that is BRs remit. BR does as his paymaster wants or walks. I feel they don’t care either way.

  • Yorkshire Bhoy says:

…and if they do sign him, the powers that be at the club will try to spin it as some massive coup, and we should all be grateful, whereas the window will still have been disgraceful!

No left back help, no plan if O’Rielly goes. No chance of being competitive in the CL!

It’s as though the club is purely being run to make a massive profit just to inflate a sale price, or suck out some money for the owners. Oh wait…
