The Daily Record aimed low this morning with their Ibrox “European final” rubbish.

There are times when the Scottish media is almost beyond embarrassment, and this is one of those occasions. This morning, the Daily Record ran a story about how the Ibrox loanee Václav ?erný, is talking about how he wants to fire the club to another European final.

My first thought was that was absurd pro-Ibrox feelgood rubbish, especially from a player who hasn’t done all that much since arriving on loan during the summer window.

It’s incredible how often the topics we discuss on this site are reflected in mainstream coverage. Only yesterday, I was comparing ?erný to Nicolas Kuhn, noting that our blossoming superstar is already a better footballer, with genuine standout performances this season.

Yet ?erný was signed to be a star player for Ibrox. So far, he hasn’t delivered. Having watched him closely, I don’t believe he has what it takes. He’s a one-dimensional player, easily muscled off the ball. They may have won against Dundee, but he was woeful in that match, losing possession every time he had it. For me, he was the worst player on the pitch.

Given that, I thought it was pretty astonishing to see him in the press talking about reaching a European final. Has he looked around? Has he seen his teammates? Or the state of the club he’s playing for? Those were my first thoughts anyway.

Then I got a surprise, when I actually read the piece. Because Cerný didn’t say any of that. In fact, he went out of his way not to talk any of that sort of nonsense. When asked about getting to the final, he was quick to say it’s far too early to even consider such questions.

That’s putting it mildly. Another way to frame it is that it’s completely crazy.

The Ibrox club are, as we all know, in serious trouble when you look at their group and might not even qualify. If they lose to Malmö, things could get very ugly, very fast.

This is classic media hackery – putting words in a player’s mouth just to craft a sensationalist headline.

It’s a foolish tactic that makes the player, the club, and the press look ridiculous. No one should be talking about a Europa League final when the club is in such a shambles. And the press certainly shouldn’t be twisting a player’s words, no matter who he plays for.

This is retrograde, low-quality hackery, and they have no shame when it comes to doing this stuff over and over again. Anything to project positivity around that club, no matter how misplaced. But all it does is make everyone involved look like fools.

I might not rate ?erný as a footballer, but in the interview, he comes across as level-headed. He talks about taking it one game at a time, with Malmö up next, and how he won’t get ahead of himself. When you join a new club in a new country, you’d expect the media to treat you fairly, to report what you say accurately, and not put words in your mouth.

Well, he’s had his first lesson that you can’t take that for granted here. In their pursuit of an Ibrox-friendly headline, the media will twist the narrative to suit their agenda.

“Václav ?erný plotting Ibrox’s path to a second Europa League final as Ajax heartache still lingers” was the headline he woke up to this morning.

And Andy Newport’s article kicked off with this gem:

“Václav ?erný is hell-bent on making the most of his second chance to help fire Ibrox to another European final. The Czech winger was robbed by injury of his chance to play as Ajax stormed to the Europa League showpiece. But now he’s determined to seize his Ibrox opportunity as they aim for this season’s final in Bilbao.”

What utter nonsense.

Everyone in the media has already all-but conceded the league title to Celtic, and the prevailing sentiment is that the Ibrox club needs serious investment to get anywhere near our level. This is literally all we’ve been hearing for weeks, that they need to spend tens of millions more of other people’s money in order to simply stand a chance here in Scotland.

Yet you still get clowns writing garbage like this. About them making it all the way to Bilbao, even out of that fixture list from Hell, and after a low-key club from Kiev has already cleaned their clock in Europe already. You honestly couldn’t make it up.

That, folks, is our press. That’s what they do. That’s who they are. And it’s why we call them out on it without mercy.

As I said at the end of the Jackson piece, there’ll be more on that subject later on today.

It’ll work (The Scummy’s of The Scummy Scottish Football Media’s Lies for Liebrox) and The Sevco Hun Hoards will rapidly spread the ‘good news’ as gospel and spend the 80 pence or whatever it costs to purchase that vomit rag in their droves…

But it’ll only work for so long that much is sure…

I seen the August daily circulation figures on another forum (Video Celts) and they are down to 48,472 per day now, they’ll not sustain that for too much longer and the misery of the dole is swiftly heading in a ghostly freezing fog to their door and it’s a sensational and beautiful feeling for me anyway that this is happening and I’m sure that I can confidently speak for every Celtic supporter that they will (or should) feel the exact same way as I do about the demise of The Daily Record…

Another six inches more depth is dug in their grave at nearby Craigton Cemetery with these succulent and delicious audit circulation figures…

“Oh what a beautiful Wednesday – Oh what a beautiful day – I’ve got a beautiful feeling – Everything’s going my way” !!!!

Malmo will beat rangers, of that I have no doubt and hopefully Hakšabanovi? can put one in the pokey for them.

Cerny is a loanee remember meaning his own club can’t shoehorn him into the first team squad.

I dont see Clemente seeing out this European campaign.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Malmo might beat, Queens Park Rangers, Berwick Rangers, Cove Rangers, Brora Rangers, Stafford Rangers, Carrick Rangers and even Crossmaglen Rangers in a GAA Soccer / Gaelic Football mix match…

But they certainly won’t beat ‘Rangers’ JimBhoy as ‘Rangers’ kicked the cheaters bucket and kicked it big time in June 2012 buddy !

  • Jimmy R says:

One guarantee with the Daily Radar is that, when it comes to fairness, objectivity and critical analysis of Scottish football, their sights are set to subterranean. Andy Newport’s love in with sevco is just as embarrassing as the Jackass.
Puffing up Cerny’s achievements which pale into insignificance when compared to Nicolas Kuhn, and yet Cerny is being made out to be the main man. If Cerny is their ace in the pack, Aberdeen have nothing to fear from sevco this season.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Their target audience is most certainly not you nor I Jimmy R, nor any other Celtic supporters on the universe either…

Hence why they won’t get even one single online £0.00001 pence click from me…

I detest them too much for even that – And I don’t doubt that their disdain of me is equally mutual which is fine…

I don’t have any doubt with what I read on Celtic forums about their pathological lies about our beloved Hoops that they truly pathologically HATE all Celtic supporters !

  • Brattbakk says:

Is it impossible to have a fair and balanced mainstream media for Scottish football? We’ve never had one but in an age of fan forum you’d think there would be a role for impartial moderators and fact checkers being professional. Instead, they’ve gone the other way. Click bait garbage and no research.

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Ah think the first thing they dae at ibrox, when a new player arrives, is tae sit a delusion valuation test. If it goes above 90% positive, yer in ! Over excitable ibrox fan boys like newport, don’t dae level – headedness. The tabloid they write for, has a long history of this kind of tripe. Another constant fly tactic, is the convenient habit of missin out, where it suits, opposin teams key facts on form, players missin out etc ; when they’re about tae play their favourites. Usually tae make the task, or result for the ibrox club look harder, or impressive than it really is.

  • Shiltrum says:

Hi James if it going to take a lot of moola just go get them up to a level to compete. Does it not go beyond that, Uncle Fester would still need to get whoever they bought to play as a team. Then improve them as the Season progresses as you said earlier in another article when was it that a Manager of theirs actually did that.
