All this “Ibrox to move for Lennon Miller” talk is nonsense. Celtic will blow them out the water.

I don’t usually dabble in predictions, but I’m making one here, and I’ll stand by it. The Ibrox club will not make any meaningful bid for Motherwell’s Lennon Miller. Despite the media buzz about how they’re preparing to go toe-to-toe with Celtic for the player, the story has more holes than Swiss cheese.

So much of what the Ibrox club does is driven by ego. Right now, their entire focus is on maintaining their so-called trophy record, a number that Celtic is poised to overtake. It could happen as early as next month if we deliver the inevitable in the League Cup final, and most of us think it will.

Their fragile egos won’t handle that reality, let alone the humiliation of losing a bidding war for a top Scottish talent to Celtic. And that’s why there won’t be an auction, and there won’t be a bid from them that’s worth mentioning. If Celtic is genuinely interested in Miller, it’s game over.

Celtic offers stability, a winning platform, Champions League football in good years, and the financial muscle to back it up. The Ibrox club has one solitary advantage: they can promise Miller first-team football straight away. We can’t guarantee him that, but even so, it’s unlikely to tilt the balance.

If both clubs are in for the player, Celtic can outbid them without breaking a sweat. We’re in a position to offer Motherwell a far more attractive deal. Where is the Ibrox club getting the £4 million required for Miller? They’re not. They can’t. They’ve just posted a £17 million loss, and anyone taking this “auction” talk seriously clearly hasn’t processed what that means.

The stories suggest that Celtic might strike for Miller in January, allowing him to return to Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season. That strategy is sound, which is why I believe the reports making the rounds and because it aligns with our sensible approach: act while the player is still within reach, before English clubs enter the fray with their exorbitant wage offers.

Even then, it’s baffling to think how the Ibrox club expects to compete with us or with England’s financial firepower.

It seems their name has been thrown into this discussion purely to appease their fans, offering them a glimmer of hope in a transfer saga they have no real chance of winning.

If an auction for Lennon Miller takes place, the Ibrox club will be blown out of the water in the first round. Whether Celtic ultimately lands the player or not, one thing is certain: Miller won’t be holding up a blue jersey at Ibrox. At best, the Ibrox club might make a derisory opening bid well below Motherwell’s valuation, but the second a serious competitor enters the race, they’ll bow out quietly.

They know this. Deep down, their fans know this too. But they’ll cling to the illusion for as long as it lasts because reality is too painful to face.

You heard it here first: there will be no meaningful bid from Ibrox for Lennon Miller. The media can dress it up however they like, but when the dust settles, we’ll all know this story was more about fantasy than football.

  • Mr Magoo says:

They can’t afford the bhoy but they might still sign Jordan Henderson

    ?????

  • Johnny Green says:

They are an irrelevance now and they cannot compete with Celtic on or off of the field of play. They are forced to shop at Poundland and Lennon Miller will never be in their shop window. I hope the player gets a big move when he is ready and when his club are also ready to cash in on him. if Celtic are genuinely interested, I hope we get the deal over the line quickly and efficiently and do not prolong the situation by turning it into another transfer saga.

If BR is serious about the player then I would hope that conversations with Motherwell and the player have already taken place, with a view to closing the deal on the day the window opens.

Daily Records to be sold – Daily Records to be sold…

Say Sevco are bidding for Lennon Miller…

And The Daily Records (AKA The Sevco View – Club newspaper) will be sold, sold, sold sold to The Sevco Gullibilly Boys !
