Celtic are in a no-lose situation with Nicolas Kuhn.

If things go to plan this season at Celtic, we’ll face bids for some of our best players come summer. Now, it’s unclear whether Celtic will entertain these offers, but what’s certain is that they will come. Bids are bound to arrive if this club meets its objectives—if it wins Champions League group games, reaches the Round of 16, and sweeps the domestic trophies.

It’s inevitable that a strong, successful side will draw interest from outside the country. Some of our players will be coveted by top-tier clubs, and they’ll be offered substantial sums to leave Celtic Park. It’s no coincidence that we’re already scouting potential new players, even as this season progresses.

Certain players may want to move on. Some may feel they’ve completed their time here and want one final transfer. The player I think of most in this regard is Kyogo, which is likely why we’re back scouting strikers—not just backups, but strikers who could step straight into the starting lineup.

It could be that Rodgers has a plan to sell a blue-chip asset to fund his broader vision, and that’s no bad thing. Most of us are satisfied with the current squad; even a player like Matt O’Riley hasn’t really been missed. While we’re not scoring as many goals from central midfield as before, Callum has just scored his fifth of the season, and the wide players have been exceptional.

Reports last night claimed that two Premier League clubs have made inquiries about Nicolas Kuhn but it’s hard to imagine Celtic would want to sell him so soon, especially for the kind of fees currently being offered. If Nicholas stays and performs well next season, there’s every reason to believe we could demand two or three times what’s likely on offer now.

He’s an asset whose value is only going to grow.

Naturally, teams will be interested in top players having a stellar season, and Nicolas isn’t just having a good season; he’s having a great one.

His goal over the weekend was his 10th of the campaign, and he’s added 11 assists. That makes him a strong contender for Player of the Year if he continues in this vein.

It’s not only his domestic performances that stand out; he’s also developed a habit of delivering on the Champions League stage. Ultimately, that’s where top players in this team will be judged. If he becomes a star of the Champions League group stage, that’ll only add more zeros to his asking price. We’re in a very fortunate position with him.

Not bad for a player we were told was a “flop,” “lazy,” and “injury-prone” by the so-called expert Radio Clyde found to do a hatchet job on him before he’d even kicked a ball.

We’ve got heroes all over the pitch right now, but Nicolas has been one of the standouts this season. He’s grown into his role to the point where we can depend on him to get us out of a tight spot or win games on his own—a testament to his development not just over these last few months but during his entire time with the club. He looked promising last season, but nothing like this. This season has exceeded our expectations by a mile.

So, it’s no surprise there’s interest. It’s no surprise clubs are asking about his availability. I’m sure they’ve been told to look elsewhere because he’s not for sale.

When the time comes, when Nicholas himself seeks a fresh challenge, Celtic will be in an excellent position to name our price and ensure we get it.

The key is to be proactive, actively scouting successors to any player who may leave. By having replacements sourced, scouted, and signed, we can keep growing, building, and advancing across all competitions we’re in now and those we aim to compete in for years to come.

Right now, I’m relishing every second of watching Nicolas.

He’s one of the most exciting wide players I’ve seen at the club, and he’s improving with each game. Let’s hold onto him as long as we can.

My friends think I’m mad but I think Kuhn is on course to another record breaking transfer fee for us. We have him locked down on a long term contract, he seems happy here so is unlikely to force a move away & would work with the club to navigate a move that sees the club take in best possible income. I think we should be demanding £40m for him currently & if he continues to excel in the CL then I see no reason why we don’t push toward demanding £50m for him. MOR was sensational for us but he wasn’t as direct as Kuhn has been & Kuhn has also shown in his performance against Atalanta he can play the hard side of the game too & be disciplined in his defensive duties.
I don’t think we should even entertain selling him in January but I think if he continues this vain of form we may be hard pressed to retain him in the summer although I really do hope we can

Ah could be as critical, or impatient as anybody. Tho the reason ah had a rethink about judgin players too early, started with Paul Elliot. His first season he was slow, could say awkward, fallin over the ball etc. Thought at the time where the f— did we get him ?! Next season and beyond he became imo, one of our best CD ‘s ever. But then again, in kyogo’s first game for us, ah commented tae a mate ‘ New Chinese guy hasnae kicked a ball’ ! And as we know the rest is history. So now ah dont make rash decisions on any new players. The gob’s shut. Always a good idea tae give a player reasonable time and Kuhn has proved another perfect example.

Kuhn is money in the bank, and until that day comes when we cash him in, all we can do is to enjoy watching him and appreciate his contributions to the side. Personally I think he will leave sooner rather than later, end of the season perhaps, because if anything he is just too good and, that being the case, he will have attracted a lot of attention that we don’t even know about yet.

I would prefer him to stay of course, but everyone has his price.

We need to stop putting a price on players heads as soon as they have a good run of form. We create a self fulfilling prophecy and give the go ahead to the board to sell. There is a real chance of progress in Europe and we need a strong squad. I get the argument of the business policy, but surely with £100m+ in the bank we can put a hold on that for a season or 2 and focus on improving our standing in Europe.

I’ve stated on 1 of your previous blogs regarding kuhn.
If celtic are to renegotiate his contract there should be a sizeable buy out transfer fee clause inserted and sell on fee Clause to protect ourselves and our assets to further enhance us moving forward, that way serious clubs would be the ones more likely interested.
Personally I hope he continues to bring celtic success for many years to come.

PS. The radio snide klown that said that about him must be feeling very embarrassed as should their panel of xperts (intended) that allowed that snide cheap shot at a player they knew nothing about.

    Better than Jota,

    Worth twice as much .

I look forward to the huns spewing their guts out when we do let him move for 40+ million quid

First Celtic supporter on Clyde Superscoreboard tonight asking two ex Huns (one ‘Rangers’ Delziel – One Sevco Bell) who is the next Celtic player to go…

Nice easy dreamy question for the said ex Huns then…

Bell still saying defiantly that Sevco can win the league –

Perhaps they can and after November and December last year who knows ?

But trying to catch both Celtic and Aberdeen ain’t gonna be easy…

Delziel says no chance of it happening…

So at least one half honest Hun on the radio then –

He’ll get a hard time no doubt the next one of them (Sevco Hoards) that he stumbles across !
