Celtic’s win has broken the Ibrox fans. One website wants the game replayed.

Image for Celtic’s win has broken the Ibrox fans. One website wants the game replayed.

I know this is difficult for some Ibrox fans to comprehend, but we won on Sunday. We’ve moved ahead of them in the trophy count, even accounting for the lies they tell themselves. I know that’s hard to take. I know they believed they’d forever hold that boast over us—deranged as it is. But it’s over. It happened. We won the cup. At what point do they get over it?

If the media’s reaction to Sunday has been over the top and hysterical, let me tell you something: the social media reaction on their fan sites has been on a whole different level of moonhowling.

They even have a website today demanding their club follow a precedent set in Belgium to have the final replayed. And they don’t want the whole game replayed—just the penalty kick and whatever time was left on the clock.

They even cite precedence: an England Under-19 women’s game from 2015. These people have actually gone out and studied this.

They’ve actively looked for a case where something similar happened, even though the instances they’re referring to had nothing to do with referees failing to give penalties. They were about encroachment during penalty kicks.

Maybe they’ll complain about that next.

Maybe that’s the club’s new line of attack. You know what? I hope it is. I hope they stamp their feet and demand a replay, just so we can laugh our backsides off for weeks as they’re firmly told where to go. The idea is preposterous.

It’s pathetic and embarrassing for a fan site even to publish an article that insane. It doesn’t even rise to the level of a pub debate after a full day’s drinking, from opening to chucking out time. It’s not just deluded—it’s Narnia-level stuff.

Anyone endorsing it has lost their mind.

The writer of this nonsense even has the cheek to claim it would never happen because Celtic fans would demand replays left, right, and centre. If that moronic writer wants to show us where we’ve ever done such a thing, let’s see it.

Besides, we don’t lose enough important games for this to ever be an issue. Unlike their club, we tend to win the matches that matter.

I’ve read some of them complaining about not getting any penalties in the league this season. I’m tempted to say, “Don’t sweat it—it’s just a statistical anomaly.” But honestly, what I think has happened is that since Collum took over and started his monthly VAR reviews, there are fewer contentious decisions. While we don’t yet have the level playing field we want, and while there’s still a way to go in terms of reform, some of the more egregious decisions aren’t happening anymore.

We’ve never been interested in tilting the playing field to benefit us. That’s not what we’re about. It’s never been what we’re about. We want a level playing field for everybody. And the reason for that is simple: on a level playing field, we win. We win because we’re a better team and a bigger club.

Replaying a game—just because you don’t like the outcome?

Imagine the anarchy it would cause if that became a thing clubs regularly did. Imagine the chaos that would ensue across football if teams ran to the Court of Arbitration or wherever, banging the drum for replays because of refereeing errors. Would we ever complete a football calendar?

What a brass neck it is to even post something like that. I’d love it if their club pursued that route. It would show them up for the pitiful bunch of whining little bitches they are, and Celtic’s legal team would have a field day.

Let me strongly recommend that a lot of their fans go and have a lie down somewhere, because this has clearly affected them tremendously. But as painful as this has been for them, their pain hasn’t even started yet. And if they can’t handle this modest amount of it, they’re not ready—at all—for what’s coming.

Last night we put up our third podcast, Joyful & Triumphant. Please share it on social media friends.

While they have made utter fools of themselves they’ve also played a blinder in making sure any 50:50 decisions are definitely going against us at Liebrox in January…

And probably before then v Dundee United on Sunday –

The ‘Motherwell’ guy on Clyde Superscoreboard again forcing the point vociferously that it’s Penalty, Penalty. Penalty all day long…

Not a fuckin word about the free kick before it – The Die is cast and that’s it…

In a perverse way Fillipe Fillop will probably – possibly successfully even – use the pathological lies to forge a siege mentality…

All up to Collum now – Will he bend to the Sevco will…

You’d think not most importantly, given the facts in front of him and also their previous brutal witch hunt against him…

But this is Scotland and Scummy Scottish Football at play…

I guess we all find out tomorrow then !

You know part of me would love the game to be replayed.they played to their best,we performed at less of our best.they cannot play better but we have levels we can go up, we’d destroy them

  • PortoJoe says:

Whilst we as fans are looking back (and based on comments so are Sevco’s management), I trust that Brendan has the team focused only and solely on the next game. As always One. Game. At. A. Time.

Yes they are referencing the club follow a precedent set in Belgium to have the final replayed. A Genk appeal based on the rules being “misapplied” by VAR was upheld. VAR disallowed the goal because Genk’s Sor encroached in the area but ignored encroachment by two Anderlecht players.
Although that game wasn’t ever actually replayed they’re menstruating because Kasper Schmeichel was the goalkeeper in the aforementioned replay that never happened.
They’re also claiming Kasper was encroaching in a similar manner as the Anderlecht v Genk incident and merits a replay. I also read a crazy post where they highlighted Hampden officiating which resulted in clear bias and cheating in Celtic’s favour going back to 2017. I am not going to lie i have spent all day reading these posts I’m on page 18 of 23 and my enthusiasm to keep reading on hasn’t waned in the slightest quite the opposite in fact.

An element of their support are incredulously, talkin about bringin in foreign officials, because ‘we just can’t trust scottish officials any more’ !! Aye, officials can’t be trusted any more, tae give the ibrox club their own way, like the good old 70’s, 80’s, 90’s before and beyond. That would be more accurate. They really know now how much they miss them. Although they won’t get their replay, they’ve still achieved what they want and that’s tae find a way tae discredit or ‘taint’ as they love tae say, our win.Thats their objective in every game against us. Ahm actually at the stage with all this unbelievable bullshit, where ahm thinkin ‘fuck it’ let’s play it again. If we do them again then what ? Play it again ? Nae matter what the outcome, it would look a lot worse for them. Shameless.

The reaction is reminiscent to me of the media’s reaction to Celtic being awarded the tie in Europe when the Polish (?) team brought on an ineligible sub for the last few minutes. UEFA applied their rules and the Poles were kicked out. The Scottish media wanted Celtic to stand aside/replay the match/ignore UEFA because…well presumably they didn’t like UEFA’s decision (to play by the rules ) and let Celtic continue in the competition…

    • The Messiah says:

Legia Warsaw, if I remember correctly. We also knocked Sion out a few years before that for the same reason.

  • Gerry says:

Sanity and level headedness are not words you could ever associate with fans of both teams to have emerged from Ibrokes over the years.

In their former life, they were happy to take all the decisions from “Ranjurs “ loving officials that went their way, as they shoved their successes down our throats, with gusto and hatred.

The second version still has all the gusto and hatred, but unfortunately, very little success.
When they come agonisingly close to a trophy, like they did on Sunday, and fall short ( yet again,) they obviously have to blame someone or something, other than their own inadequacies!

Their continual post cup final moonhowling is absolutely hilarious and a joy to behold. I don’t read their forums but they must be very entertaining!

If only they could find one salient contributor, with more than one brain cell, to explain reality.

The reality for them is that they lost another cup final to the best and strongest team in Scotland, simply because they are not good enough.

This reality is very painful for the Bears to comprehend and therefore, accept !!! HH

  • JimBhoyback says:

Only one thing for it players stripped to the waist and square go in the car park.

Loving how this is playing out actually. They want a play off til they are happy with the result?? Privileged you say.

The ref blew for a coming together on the edge of the box prior to a shirt grab on the line. Some say to give them a free kick in a dangerous location. Beaton may have tried to give them the advantage, blowing early for a very lightweight coming together. If VAR was used it should/would have come back to the foul, the coming together (outside the box).

The irony is Beaton may be sidelined for this which would help the Celts.

Celtic did nothing wrong and went on to win a cup final, end of, HH.

  • Brattbakk says:

I didn’t think I could be surprised by their nonsense but like you say, the moon howling has reached new levels. They are seriously demanding something is done. I’ve enjoyed the Aberdeen fans pointing out the penalties they were denied in last years final and not a single reply from the moon howlers about that. I’m up for it, let’s play the game again just for kicks. I’m also enjoying the constant stories about their transfer targets as if the club hasn’t already owned up to having to make further cuts.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I disagree about a replay Brattbakk – Not just yourself but ever other Celtic supporter also…

The last one 40 years ago v Rapid Vienna who we beat 3-0 at Parkhead – We lost that replay 0-1 and out of Europe we went…

Unlikely to happen – But this is Scummy Scottish Football (largely due to one 12 year old club) so who knows…

I’m not over that Rapid Vienna replay yet even forty years later !

  • MarkB says:

Been watching Celtic since the 1960s. Time and again refereeing decisions have changed games (I genuinely think more in Rangers favour than ours). Sunday was clearly 100% a penalty and should have stood. They are right to moan just as we did many times. But games being replayed is a nonsense for any side to claim. More concerning and the only thing that counts for me is that we nearly lost that game. Had the decision been awarded, correctly, as a penalty, the probability of us losing the game would have been even higher. So OUR focus must be this – refereeing decisions will continue to be made in error….some for some against (its much more even now than in 60s 70s 80s 90s and 2000s) BUT we must focus on why we played poorly and how we ensure in the next game against them we are not so mistake strewn and play better.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I thought the free kick was called for an infringement before the shirt pull Mark…

Surely that invalidates this ‘100%’ Penalty ascertation !

  • gerrybhoy1978 says:

I would honestly agree to reply the final as long as they agreed to replay last year’s final for Duks last minute foul from Butland.
A didn’t hear them screaming last year even though every one of them I spoke to admitted it was a foul. This way they could end up with nothing most likely they would. Maybe this offer would make them see how deluded they are

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I also want the 2003 League Cup Final replayed (John Hartson goal offside in his own half) –

And the 1986 League Cup Final also…

And Dundee United should demand The 1981 League Cup Final be replayed also !

  • MarkB says:

It was 100% a pen. The whistle blew (go back and listen to the whistle…I did) long after the player fell to the ground and the pull had continued into the box. To be fair to Collum he unequivocally calls it a factual error. It was not even a go look at the screen error it should have been overturned as a matter of fact. It’s a definite pen and now has been declared as such officially as an error.
