Stupid, Stupid, Peepul: The Village Idiot, Kris Boyd.
Here’s the thing, and this is the thing that some of the muppets on the other side of the city just will never get, and something that some in the media evidently miss as well; if you get yourself a reputation as a clown then that’s how you’ll be viewed and treated forevermore, because the line between the times when you’re being serious and when you think you’re being a smartarse will blur until no-one knows the difference.
On top of that, when you frequently spout stupid things and then roll some of them back pretending they were a joke whilst leaving other, equally absurd, statements on the record people are going to eventually treat every statement you make the same way.
In the end, who cares if The Village Idiot was being serious or not last night when he made his ridiculous comments about how “Ranjurs are coming” in the aftermath of the 6-0 win against Kilmarnock? Neil Lennon, sitting next to him, and Jonny Hayes who was also in the studio burst out laughing; that’s an appropriate response either way.
I have no doubt that he at least partly believes it. I have no doubt that he’s not alone in believing it. But he has the biggest mouth and the one least connected to anything that the rest of us would recognise as a brain. We don’t call him The Village Idiot for nothing, after all; he is a yahoo and this is what you expect from them.
I knew it would be like this. They were ready to call it last midweek when they won in Nice. There were a few in the media whose excitement could be sensed just below the surface of their commentary. Some of them didn’t even try to disguise their hope – not belief, but hope – that this would be the start of a turnaround. Nobody who watched them at the weekend is mad enough to believe this … except yeah, some of them obviously do.
But most can keep their emotions in check. Not this guy. Not this clown. He opened his trap as soon as he knew the score and could not stop it running away from him. I am going to stick my neck out and suggest that Keevins will be lost in the same delirium today and will see in this the proof that a League Cup and Europa League double could still happen, if, that is, Clement does not do the Grand Slam and win it all.
But it’s the Village Idiot who becomes the latest of the Stupid Stupid Peepul because he was first out of the gate, because he was the first person to voice the sentiment whether he meant it or not. It’s an incredibly dumb thing to say in any context, even as a joke, and especially when people look at you and can’t tell the difference.
Watched the highlights of the Ibrox game, I have never seen such an insipid display as I saw from Kilmarnock for along time. I thought that maybe they had been instructed that the rules of the game had changed and that tackling had been banned. Beaten 6-0 and only one player booked, for God knows what? says it all. If Killie continue to play like that then they are in a relegation fight.
Great gritty display from the Celtic players last night, that was definitely a game where points could have been dropped. Thelin has Aberdeen playing well, would love to see them finishing 2nd, it’s going to be hard but not impossible for them.
He’s no the only one. Ye only need tae look at how the media hype tae their big win against a diabolical Kilmarnock, is gainin legs. They absolutely cannae help theirselves. Here’s hopin we can provide the big reality check a week on Sunday and even spoil their new year as well.
I think Boyd was joking to be fair. Joking about a joke of team. I read McInnes’s comments and no scathing remarks on opposition, incidents, refs, what could have been, unlucky etc nonsense like we hear all the times when the Celts hump his side. Funny that eh!!
Well he has written his brown brogues and Blazer off unless under instruction to lay down to his masters. Terrible manager. When Killie bin him where does he go.
3rd bottom cosying up to Utd and Huns lite. I would love to see Huns Light and their Killie cousins drop a league. Oh and murderwell, despise that manager Eddie Munster, he may also go before xmas. I hope, another hun coach who finds it hard to hide his bitterness.
What makes me laugh is the fact that a lot of them have made up their minds and want Clement out, the man a lot of them want to replace him is the Kilmarnock manager ? 3rd bottom and capable of losing heavily to this dismal Ibrox outfit.
