What an incredible reaction to Sunday’s game. I haven’t even begun to properly delve into the match itself and what it means—not yet, anyway. Because I’ve spent most of the last 24 hours marvelling—absolutely marvelling—at the unravelling of certain sections of the Ibrox support and the media commentariat.
You’ve got major journalists—who’ve never uttered a peep before when decisions have blatantly gone against Celtic—suddenly demanding instant explanations from the SFA. You’ve got the clown car brigade stamping their feet in fury. And then, you’ve got the true lunatics. The descent into full-blown madness has been breathtaking, and nothing exemplifies it better than the spectacular self-detonation of The Village Idiot himself.
If you haven’t yet watched his video meltdown, find it and watch it immediately after reading this. But do so only if you’re sitting somewhere relaxed, chilled, and ready to laugh, because this is something special, and you need to treat it as such. I’m not kidding—get comfortable, sit back, and enjoy it. I was delighted by it. In fact, I’ve watched it at least half a dozen times.
I knew there would be an unravelling.
I knew there would be people freaking out. If there hadn’t been some way to target referees or to claim Celtic somehow benefited from decisions, where would all this anger have gone? At the manager, possibly? Probably?
But my God, in that piece to camera, The Village Idiot sounds like the craziest, most ranting Ibrox supporter caricature.
He’s utterly fallen apart. He comes across like a conspiracy theorist par excellence. No defeat these people suffer ever goes down easily—least of all a defeat to us.
We always laugh and say, “This one has broken them,” but in this case, it genuinely feels like it has. When you listen to some of them, you hear something buried deep in their tone—undisguised, rabid hysteria.
It’s not just The Village Idiot, although his is a particularly exceptional breakdown. It’s all of them. The Neil McCanns of the world and others are banging the same drum: “The club must demand answers. The club has to do this. The club has to do that.” But here’s the kicker—none of them are brazen enough to say what exactly the answers should be about. What do they think happened? Why did it happen?
If they’re alleging a conspiracy, then who was involved? What was its purpose? If they’re suggesting Celtic somehow pulls the strings at the SFA, that’s not an original accusation, but it doesn’t get any less absurd the more it’s repeated—especially when they can’t demonstrate how that supposed control manifests.
If they can’t bring themselves to make a specific allegation, all they’re doing is blowing smoke and throwing mud.
This is the difference between us and them.
We know exactly what we’re alleging, and we’re very open about it. We’re also very clear about what we think should be done.
For example, we want all officials to declare their allegiances in a signed and notarised document, with serious disciplinary consequences for lying. That’s how you settle this issue once and for all.
We’re clear that certain officials can’t be trusted, and we’re not shy about saying so. None of us wanted Beaton to referee the match, and if it turns out he made a mistake that benefited us, I couldn’t care less—it won’t make me more comfortable with him officiating our next game.
I don’t want him anywhere near Celtic matches, full stop.
Another difference between us and them is that we never deviate from this position. As I’ve repeatedly said, I don’t want Celtic fans officiating these games any more than I want Ibrox fans doing it. I want the game free of bias, and I believe most Celtic fans want the same. Our position is wholly rational, wholly defensible, and entirely reasonable. We’re not asking for special treatment; we’re asking for the same standards applied in leagues all over Europe.
Nobody has ever offered a coherent, intelligent argument for why this shouldn’t happen. So, when people say the Ibrox club needs to “get aggressive” on this, my question is: aggressive about what? What do they think happened here? What are they alleging? If they can’t answer those simple questions, nobody should take them seriously—not the BBC broadcast journalist, not the tabloid writer, and not the guy ranting on YouTube. They all belong in the same clown car.
The Village Idiot has gone off the deep end, but he’s not alone. His collapse might be the most spectacular and unhinged, but others are spiralling just as hard.
The full weight of what we achieved on Sunday hasn’t hit some of us yet. I’ve been looking forward to a moment like this for years, and I’m amazed at how little the full impact of it has sunk in. But I know it will. I know what it means, and I know it has ushered in a new era.
Some of them realise it too. The Village Idiot may have a low IQ, but even he has grasped what this one means. That’s why he and others are hurting like hell.
It’s debatable whether Boyd ever had the plot in the first place, since stupidity is his stock in trade.

I was uneasy about John Beaton refereeing this final as he has previous in showing bias towards the other lot,
However I would say he had a reasonable game although went a bit card crazy later in the game,
He witnessed the foul on Cerny at the edge of the box, then Cerny like most players tried to make the most of it and threw himself into the penalty area, so in my opinion Beaton was convinced where he saw the tackle and refused to be conned and immediately gave the free kick, and all the blue nosed punters and bloggers are Ragin’!
If he hadn’t tried so hard to cheat John Beaton he might have got it…
