As football fans, it’s always gratifying to witness a signing that doesn’t arrive with a blaze of trumpets or a barrage of media hype, yet ends up being a genuinely pleasant surprise. On the closing day of the last transfer window, Celtic made one of those signings.

I thought it was a shrewd piece of business.

We needed another midfielder, and the signing of Luke McCowan gave the squad a better balance. That said, it wasn’t a flashy move. It didn’t have the pizzazz of bringing in Bernardo, nor did it break the bank the way signing Arne Engels did. But sometimes, it’s not about the glamour—it’s about what a player brings to the team.

McCowan hasn’t played every week. Yet there’s no denying this signing has been successful. In fact, I’d argue it’s been vital. It sends a strong message to young Scottish players: you can come to Celtic and be considered right alongside the high-profile foreign imports. That’s no small thing.

While Luke hasn’t started often, he’s made plenty of appearances as a substitute, and it’s already obvious that we’ve landed a quality player. At just £1.6 million, he’s a bargain. At 27 years old, he’s entering his prime, and he’s only going to get better from here. The fact he’s a lifelong fan of the club, fulfilling his dream by pulling on the Celtic shirt, makes him an even better fit.

He’s what I like to call the perfect “good soldier.”

We’ll know soon enough if he’s in the starting XI tonight, but for me, he should play. He’s the kind of player who has cemented his place in the squad, someone you know you can rely on. This particular venue suits him perfectly—it’s his former club, after all, where he served with distinction. Their fans should welcome him back warmly, though tonight, he’ll be there representing us.

There’s something reassuring about Luke McCowan. He’s one of those players you never worry about seeing on the team sheet. When he’s named in the lineup, you feel good. You’re happy for him and confident in what he’ll bring. You can imagine him getting on the ball, contributing in front of goal, maybe even finding the net. You know he’ll handle whatever situation the game throws at him.

For a modest sum, we’ve acquired a player who’s proving his worth. It also speaks volumes about the system we’ve put in place and the tactics Brendan Rodgers employs. Rodgers saw something in McCowan that clubs in England overlooked and acted decisively to bring him to Parkhead.

My hope for the season is that Luke gets an extended run in the side. What I like most about his game is his forward-thinking approach. He gets into dangerous areas, has an eye for goal, and isn’t afraid to take a shot. He doesn’t over-complicate things—he keeps it simple. And as we all know, simplicity is often highly effective in football.

The other day, I spoke about the longbow and how the French turned their noses up at it, considering it dishonourable. Luke McCowan reminds me of that. He’s not a flashy player with tricks and flicks, but he’s highly effective and incredibly dangerous. He gets the job done.

Let the snobs say what they like. Let those who value players only by transfer fees thumb their noses at guys like McCowan. But for those of us who love the game and understand what truly matters, it’s clear he’s a great signing. Luke McCowan will thrive in a Celtic shirt for years to come, and I, for one, hope he starts tonight.

Absolutely pish tonight Adam dessers, couldn’t score in a brothel, and I don’t even want to talk about the big blouse trusty

Too strong fun time Frankie, Trusty, Bernardo and Idah were all shocking but it was a good game and Dundee deserved at least a draw. The big game is Kilmarnock. My major concern tonight was Idah, he looks like he has imposter syndrome but, we need to get him right before we write him off because he has the attributes to dominate this league.

Sorry bratt but Idah has now not scored in10 games inwhat is regarded as one of the poorest leagues in Europe, and trusty is to easily pushed of the ball , no fan wants tosee us draw or lose ,but if playe?rs deserve to be criticised, then I’m sorry but that’s what I’ll do.Dont get me wrong the whole team was poor bar khun imo,but in,the heat of the moment I blagged of two.
