10 thoughts on “It took Celtic years, and pain, to get here. No-one at Ibrox gets that, or is prepared to go through the same.

  1. It is the hope that kills their dreams when reality appears. Now aged 70 I seen them rubbing superiority in all clubs faces.
Only need look st the votes “Yes” to allow new yo replace old in the SPL.
    A pox on their house

  2. Living in our shadow is their whole future and they are never going to come to terms with. that fact. There will be no quick fix and that is the only thing they crave, they want our success but not to put in the hard work to get there. Even if they did eventually knuckle down and manage to become self sufficient and live within their means, by that time we would be even further ahead of them as we relentlessly pursue our own targets. Realistically therefore, there is no chase, only a procession for Celtic to gain further trophies, with only the occasional off day here and there to encourage the rest of them to keep chipping away at us.

  3. It’s like The Three Stooges meet Dumb and Dumber over there, with Bawwy as Lloyd Christmas and Greegs as Harry.

Haven’t stopped laughing since I heard this news.

  4. There’s more to that Oscar Wilde adage you quoted,

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery which mediocrity can pay to greatness.”

  5. OMG James or should i say Nostradamus. Did you see that article on Sky last night about Man Utd?

It mirrored every single point you made the other day when you set out clearly exactly what Yank
“investment “ will actually mean on a leveraged basis.

Man Utd declare £1bn in losses due to paying £1bn in interest on loans from the Glaziers.
400 to 600 redundancies. £700m on unsuccessful transfer dealing. Massive compensation to acquire and sack mngnt teams. £100m losses annually due to no UCL Involvement. Ground in need of replacement. Exorbitent bill. Freeloaders draining finances and the horrendous picture goes on and on.

I’m sure IF any Uncle Sam investment does come then it wont involve anything but money showers to restore the Famous to previous glories ?

Your article was sooo on the money and the above is the proof of it. Poor deluded, even I am worried for them. Keep up the good work mate

    1. Sorry meant to add that Man Utd issued a v good statement setting out their plans to right all these issues by dramatic cost cutting, living within their means and ensuring they always meet UEFA FFP regulations etc.

I am sure the Ibrox fans will also really buy into such measures to ensure they also achieve financial stability and meet FRP Lol

      1. At least Man Utd play in a league that generates wealth just from participating, the zombies don’t have that. So it’s hard to see how they catch Celtic or how investors get a return. If the takeover happens, you’ve got to think investors will get a return even if it’s to the detriment of the club. They might’ve painted themselves into a corner over there and need to take a huge gamble.

  6. Good article. The ibrox club, especially in the Murray years, had an obsessive, (extremely arrogant ) objective tae stay on top of us and its spendin all that money in tryin tae emulate our past European success, that eventually sent them down. We now find ourselves miles ahead of them and we can’t deny, that has been due tae, first and foremost Fergus’s intervention and since, bein sensible with finances, and of course fan contribution. The only downside tae this, is that it has encouraged our board continually tae be over cautious with spendin on the team, especially where Europe’s concerned. Ahm as pleased as any Celtic supporter where we are as a club, tho our board are still short of European ambition. Ahm sure they’re capable of strengthenin our team more in preparation without puttin our finances in any sort of trouble.

  7. I often think of what these Sevco fans who grew up seeing ‘sugar daddy’ David spoil them by giving them ‘everything’ by way as it eventually transpired stealing almost £1 Billion from the taxpayer would think if their own children ‘demanded’ the very same from them…

They’d be told in no uncertain terms to ‘Get tae Fuck’ – and rightly so…

It’s always someone else’s money with these bastards isn’t it…

And it always fuckin will be –

Anyone mental enough to take them on deserves all the ungratefulness and abuse they get !

  8. Is there actually some hidden board recognition for there achievements going on here. My oh my.
Progression is a process not a move simply from A to B in one simple action as some have been banging on about on here for well forever.
We are in a position now for the next progressive stage to commence which is that European competitive team and if our top players want to stay for another year or two I fear that stage can only be reached if they want stay and be on our side, literally. I think, I hope, this year’s CL participation will have set a fire under our top players to be ambitious beyond what a move to a club with deeper pockets and higher wage earner can provide them.I don’t think the board can dare now deny the fans and delay when we are in such a position of strength. So aye I think our dreams are in the hands of the players and it will very much be dependent on them deciding to stay and give it another go. I have niggling doubts as the mercenary word keeps popping up in my head but I do hope they show commitment to the cause and do so at least for one further go
