McCoist embarrasses himself again with his hypocritical rule-book reversal.

There is nothing quite like a hypocrite, hoist on his own petard. And last night, McCoist delivered one of the most embarrassing reversals I’ve ever heard — spinning with fury over a denied penalty and a last-man denying a goal-scoring opportunity. His entire argument? The penalty should have been give at it was “the letter of the law.”

This, by the way, is the same law that, just a week ago, he was condemning.

He acknowledged what was in the rulebook — before promptly saying that the rulebook was wrong. And TNT Sport really ought to be mortified that, with all the possible commentary teams out there, they’ve chosen to inflict on us someone whose biases are so clear, so obvious, so utterly appalling.

Their fans are entitled to ask why they didn’t get the penalty.

But before demanding inquiries — as McCoist was doing at full-time — he might want to consider the conduct of Dessers. The player was getting pulled backwards but threw himself forwards. I would suggest it was that very forward momentum, as he dived, that tore his shirt. The referee knew it.

No attention is being paid to that — but that’s the story for me. That’s the story of the penalty kick. That’s why it wasn’t given. That’s why VAR didn’t intervene. The referee got it spot on. There is no controversy here, except the one concocted in their own tiny minds. But then again, it wouldn’t be an Ibrox team if they weren’t clinging to some excuse. They would not exist, either on the pitch or off it, if they weren’t hanging on for grim death to some sob story.

But McCoist citing the rulebook — the very same rulebook he was dismissing out of hand only a week ago, in the same competition, against the same team — really takes the prize.

I hope that when he appears on TalkSport or wherever he ends up next to rant about this, someone calls him out as the hypocrite he so clearly is. I hope someone confronts him about it and openly mocks him to his face.

Last night, as I was writing this, someone drew my attention to MSP James Dornan’s very sarcastic tweet — which provoked the fury of the Peepul in the way that only something utterly accurate can.

All he did was tell the literal truth: McCoist sounds like a raging fanboy instead of a professional commentator.

I mean, if the rule he thought shouldn’t exist, or believed was wrong, is the same one that wasn’t enforced last night – and it was – then by his own logic he’s got nothing to complain about and so he should shut it.

“I know what the rule book says,” he said, last week, stamping his feet. “But the rulebook is wrong.” So pipe down, clown. You got what you wanted.

In the aftermath of the game, Barry Ferguson had a little moan about the officials too — claiming they were denied not one penalty but two. I’ll be writing more about him and his situation, obviously. And of course, the Scottish media is all-in for the ride. The same people who didn’t think it was a penalty last week now think this one was. Their double standards are blatant and shameless.

The bottom line, though, is that no matter how much they wail and whine and bitch and moan, they’re out. Their club has nothing to play for now between this moment and the end of the season. Ferguson is demanding they win the next 15 points from 15.

If one of those games wasn’t against us, I wouldn’t care if they did or didn’t — because now none of them matter a damn. This is the ultimate season of failure. They year wasn’t even over before their dream of trophies was done. Now? Nothing. And Celtic have moved ahead of the Lie in the trophy count with a treble to win.

I was delighted there was controversy last night.

I was delighted to see a contentious decision go against them. Delighted to see McCoist get himself in such a mess — trying to cite the rulebook chapter and verse after tearing it up just one week ago.

I love it when the media does this. I love it when these people get themselves into a state. I love it when they show themselves up.

And I’m especially pleased that more and more people are now talking about McCoist and just how biased he is — and therefore how utterly unsuitable he is to be sitting in a commentary box pretending to offer a neutral perspective.

His behaviour is scandalously unprofessional. As funny as it was listening to him last night, it was also annoying — because that’s not what we tune in for.

Good night or not — and of course, it was — the audience deserves better than that. McCoist is a joke, but he’s just one in a long, wearying list of them. And we talk about it all the time here.

Was in stitches laughing at the penally claim, just because the shirt seemed so poor quality. The defender just had a wee bit of it and did not even pull hard and the shirt disintegrated. As James Dornan said, not a good look for the shirt manufacturer. Ha ha

McCoist is a snidey wee cont with his vomit inducing remarks, end of.

I watched the game until Bilbao ended the huns season by scoring the 2nd goal and I immediately tuned into the Man U game instead. Now that was one of the best games for drama that I have seen in many a long year, absolutely electrifying so it was. The difference in the two game was huge, like black and white telly compared to colour TV.

Whatever I was tuned into it wasn’t him on it just two English guys and not to biased at all…

Once the penalty went in I immediately went to BBC Radio Scotland which was beautiful –

Did the same at the end and it was pure DELICIOUS Schadenfreude of the highest order…

      Oh man – Their Hurt…

      By the way – If that’s us I’m screaming for a penalty…

But the ingrained teachings of their taught cheating actually went against them last night –

If he’d gone down normally they’d have probably got that – But he didn’t so they didn’t…

And where’s The Wee rat McCann rule book when you bloody well need it !

I watched it in the Croft Bar, where it’s a mixed crown. They were shouting for a penalty when a Celtic fan shouted “The material’s as substandard as the players” which drew a howls of laughter!
McCoist seems to be losing it now and is surely on his way out. It makes it all the better though that they’re cracking up about conspiracies in Europe as well as domestically, while they’ve zilch left to play for!

The Teflon man will be around for the foreseeable but he might just go too far in his rantings although where do you set the bar for that going by his behaviour since 2012.

  • daviebhoy54 says:

Their attention has now fully turned to the fakeover.

Last night just added to the mystery of Why. The coalition see a club in such a dreadful financial mess, unable to make real progress in a minor European competition so god help them in any attempt to get into never mind progress in the UCL where the new owners may have a slim chance of making any return on their “ investment “.

So short of major asset stripping what is the end game?

I have posted elsewhere about the make up and level of the so called pundits in Scotland. One may have a view about Neville and Carragher but at least they stick to facts and rules, not blind allegiance to their clubs. They have also played and won at the highest levels in the world so they have earned the right to be pundits.

It seems in Scotland the only criteria is some sort of association with the club from Ibrox. I mean you look at the names and you have to question their right to comment intelligently on anyone. They are hardly role models to aspire to.

I don’t give a monkeys fart about McCoist or any other hun for that matter .

All that matters here is a simple fact , the huns have won fuck all again.

    • Johnny Green says:

Oh the blue room is bare
      There are no trophies there
      And there’s no Mr Sheen
For there’s fk all to clean

      • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

        They’ll be no silverware…
        Up the marable stair…
        Aw the trophy room’s bare…
And it’s no fuckin fare !

        For some ribbons are Green…
        And the others are White…
        They’ll no need Mr Sheen…
Cos The New Huns are Shite !

  • PortoJoe says:

Bazza wants 15/15 – well I want a scratch golf handicap and that ain’t happening either! I can’t recall the last time Celtic won all 5 games post the split never mind both those clubs out of Ibrox. And when 3 of the games are against teams in a fight for third and his crew have nothing to fight for… I’m just disappointed that Hibs are not a handful of points closer to them as it would make the fight for second interesting!

  • Davie M says:

The Bias by McCoist has also filtered through to the other TNT commentators.
I have to turn the sound down with the drivel they speak.
I do get a laugh when I see Ally Greet AGAIN & AGAIN.

  • wotakuhn says:

    “Are you not entertained”.
I mean seriously what a complete lack of effort. They don’t even try to play football with Barry’s only tactic of defend, defend, defend and hopefully break once in a game and get a penalty. How fucking boring is that, watching that bag of shite anti football. Is it me or does Dessers dive down that often that he looks like a defective Humpty numpty egg.
As for Ally what a pathetic wee man. Powerless without his corrupt Order to back him and his useless team up. Can’t hear you singing anymore and another trophyless season

  • crabbit auld man says:

McCoist tries to come acros as a jolly happy chap. The reality is he’s a bitter wee orange bastard
