Celtic…5
(Nawrocki 31’, Yang 45’+8’, McCowan 48’, Kenny 54’, Idah 90’+4’)
Aberdeen…1
(Nisbet 42’)

That was a brilliant night and performance away from home for Celtic, following Sunday’s victory over Hibs, as the Bhoys hammered Aberdeen 5-1 at Pittodrie. Let me remind you – Aberdeen are the same team our Glasgow Celtic Lions will face at Hampden next Saturday in the fight for a historic Treble. Brilliant, isn’t it? I’ve no doubts. I know Celtic are going to win the Treble. It’s going to be a dazzling day.

Celtic put in another flashy display last night – a proper champions’ performance! I’m so proud of our Bhoys again, and I’ll tell you what – I want to see that same fantastic energy and result at Hampden on the 24th of May.

The first half began with the Celtic Lions pushing hard for an opener. From the very first whistle, the hunger and determination to score was written all over them. I just knew our champions would make it happen. The deadlock was broken in the 31st minute when Maik Nawrocki – Celtic’s young defensive talent – scored his first goal of the season to make it 1-0 to the Hoops.

Let me tell you a bit about Nawrocki: we’ve seen very little of him since he signed, but what we have seen of him has impressed enough that a lot of fans wonder why we haven’t seen more. Nights like last night will do his chances no harm at all. It is to be hoped that this is the beginning of something special from him.

Aberdeen equalised not long after, following a pause in play when one of their supporters required medical attention. When the game resumed, Kevin Nisbet headed past Sinisalo to level it at 1-1.

But Celtic responded just before the break. In added time (45’+8’), Yang Hyun-jun fired in a fine finish to restore the lead, making it 2-1 going into half-time.

A quick word on Yang: he’s a dynamic winger with skilful dribbling, strength, and pace. He’s also matured a lot mentally and worked hard on his weaknesses – a proper Celtic player now that he’s adapted into his role.

The second half continued in the same electric fashion. As I’ve said in recent pieces – when Celtic get in front, they tend not to stop. That first goal didn’t spark the machine into life; the second one did, and we saw it burn brightly again here.

In the 48th minute, James Forrest set up Luke McCowan, who smashed in a terrific finish to make it 3-1. McCowan is a versatile midfielder known for threading key passes and through balls. He can play across the midfield or out wide, and he plays for Celtic because he loves the club – he’s been a fan his whole life.

Five minutes later, in the 53rd, it was Johnny Kenny’s turn. Another fresh-faced talent, Kenny headed home a radiant fourth for Celtic. He’s a centre-forward with a real zest for the game and a natural instinct for goal. He’s one of those academy lads who went out on loan … we’ve brought back a better played.

The Bhoys were cruising at 4-1.

They kept control all the way to the end, playing not just in the Glasgow Celtic way – but like true champions.

Into the final ten minutes, chances kept coming. Both Adam Idah and Jeffrey Schlupp went close with efforts from inside the box. Sadly, there was a downside – Reo Hatate took a knock from a poor challenge and limped off, a concern for Brendan Rodgers with Jota already out for up to nine months and the Hampden final on the horizon. Fingers crossed it’s not as bad as some in the media hope it is.

Then, in the 90’+4 minute, just when it looked like 4-1 would be the final score, Adam Idah stepped up. He came out of the shadows with a world-class strike to make it five – the perfect way to finish.

So now the Champions prepare for their next game this Saturday against St Mirren at Celtic Park. Things are looking brilliant. If they play like that at Hampden, they’ll definitely win the Treble. Fingers crossed, as always – I can’t wait to be there in Glasgow, celebrating with my whole Celtic team.

Great assessment of the match Paulinha, and the individual contributions! My favourite part though was watching the touch, close control and vision of young McArdle. I can’t wait to watch him play again (and again)!
