After a month long disaster and a couple of terrible events for the Celtic Bhoys in December under Nancy, they finally won their last game against Dundee United under Martin O’Neill. The Celtic Bhoys were clearly a bit down. However, it now looks as though they have picked themselves up again, ready to strike out at their rivals once more.
The Bhoys in green and white simply hammered Dundee United. That is the very same club we lost to under Nancy. We hoped they were back in full glory. Once again they are racing for a possible fifth Champions title. Watching Celtic games in November made me wonder if that was possible. Additionally, I wondered why they are in such poor condition at the moment.
Let’s be honest, Hearts have six points more than Celtic and their form has been very good. The big question is whether the Celtic Bhoys can beat them, close the gap, and do it all while starting from second place with a very poor squad.
What worries me most is the growing injury list and the possibility of a fixture list which never seems to end. Several Celtic players are now ruled out until the end of the season. Earlier in the week, Martin O’Neill gave a small update, confirming that Jota, who already struggled with injury last season, will not play again this campaign after his knee problem worsened.
Where is Johnston? Where are the other Celtic players who are still at the club but sitting on the bench, injured, ruled out, or simply not ready?
During yesterday’s game I feared Tierney would be ruled out as well, but thankfully it turned out to be only a wee nosebleed. Still, what is going on here? If injuries continue to pile up within the Celtic squad, I see this in a very dark light.
The biggest concern, of course, is the transfer window.
As I said in my previous article, Celtic are far from brilliant when it comes to transfer windows, especially January ones. Once again, the leftovers from the Celtic board, Nicholson and Desmond, seem unwilling to bring top-quality players to the club.
This is why Martin himself has now grabbed the controls.
What is wrong with these people?
Other clubs have far less money than Celtic, but what they have instead is ambition. Sometimes ambition is enough to attract good players.
Compared to last summer and winter transfer windows, this one is no better in any way so far.
A number of deals flared and then died. It seems that Celtic cannot rely on its leaders.
After a terrible summer window, Celtic were supposedly focused on equipping O’Neill’s squad for a proper title race. Yet we have already learned that deals for Kyogo Furuhashi, Jocelin Ta Bi, and Lorient forward Mohamed Bamba are all in doubt or dead.
This is despite all the promises and media rumours.
Where on earth is the striker? Where are the rest of the players? Is Julian Araujo really the only winter signing, brought in under the watch of Wilfried Nancy? So far, yes, Araujo is truly Celtic’s sole reinforcement this window. We’re fifteen days in.
Celtic’s desperate need for attacking reinforcements has been obvious for months, if not since last year when Rodgers was in charge. Rodgers was clever enough to spot exactly what the squad needed. But it was the Celtic board that blocked every single decision and transfer
. These clowns from the board have sold our two key strikers in the space of a year. Now they are struggling to buy one.
So where does that leave us? Is Franko Kova?evi? or Kieron Bowie a realistic Celtic striker option? David Fofana was allegedly close to a move to Parkhead on the final day of the summer transfer window. However, he chose to sign for Charlton, and that move ultimately collapsed. He’s back on the radar.
Celje striker Franko Kova?evi? seems a more tempting target and he has enjoyed an impressive campaign so far. He has scored 11 goals in 14 league games and added two assists. He is also showing his pedigree in Europe. The big question is whether Kova?evi? could carry a title tilt.
At the moment, Celtic seem to be circling him and other potential targets like a ship lost in deep waters, anchorless and unsure of where to go next.
As for last night’s game, I have to say the performance of the Bhoys in green and white was poor.
Not many chances were created, there was little attacking football, zero aggressiveness or sharpness, and no real push for more goals.
This is how Celtic played against Falkirk, not like champions, but like a team simply trying to grab three points and move slightly higher in the Premiership table.
Sometimes a game is poor and mundane, but the result is satisfactory and fans should be happy. Nygren was the man of the match after scoring the only goal. However, that performance once again showed that fresh blood at Celtic is needed, and needed urgently.
Congratulations to the Celtic Bhoys for securing three points and climbing into second place.
We needed them more than we needed the statement display. At this stage only the points matter. The transfer window is still open and full of potential targets. All I can do is hope that at least some of them finally become reality.

This reads much more like a Paulina article …?
There’s a reason for that, believe it or not…..
Let’s be honest, Hearts have six points more than Celtic and their form has been good…….Honestly? We could do with a little less staring the obvious.
That’s because it is a Paulina article, and a very good one at that! I’m glad though Paulina that you haven’t called the likes of Scales, Engels, Nygren, Hatate and Tounekti Celtic Lions.
This is a difficult time with everything seemingly against Celtic winning the title. Hearts and even Sevco now have everyone from the board, management and fans singing off the same hymsheet, and strengthening their squads as though the January window wasn’t as difficult as the Celtic board are making out!
Historically that togetherness and unity is what wins titles. I can’t recall any side in the disarray Celtic are in now, managing to get close to winning a league title. MON looked uncharacteristically dejected before, during and after last night’s match as he must have realised what a state his beloved Glasgow Celtic have got themselves into!
when it was posted it was posted under James’ name, hence my comment. It wasn’t a criticism btw
This is true we do need freshness and have done since we sold Kyogo over a year ago but nothing.I expect a couple of £6 million new signings in forward areas and that’s our wack.
Board will think it’s excessive spending but we will be left utterly disappointed by it, since we need around 5 first team ready new signings of proven quality to win this 5 in a row with our usual cushion.
These are the type of results that win titles…
But by fuck – I wouldn’t wanna go through another 90 minutes of that this season !
