  1. The shambolic mess that is currently engulfing our beloved club is clear for all of us to see.

We’ve all had an opinion on it and it’s not a result of one poor season…rather negligence, arrogance, tardiness, ineptitude, incompetence and parsimony over many years.

Starting with our team on the park. You are correct James, when you state that it takes a certain mentality to play for our club. Above all else you require the ability that lifts you above your opponents.
I’m pretty sure none of us would complain where our players came from if they arrived with the unquestionable and requisite skill set that matched the levels we expect to see, as Celtic fans.

We do exist in a very poor league and therefore, it is rare that we see many, who can be considered potential signings in the SPL. That’s not to say that there are no potential signings here!

When you consider some of the crud we’ve wasted millions on, then you start to wonder.

Unfortunately, until we get the proper, meritorious expertise at boardroom level, CEO level and recruitment level, we’ll continue to waste our time and money on very poor project signings.

A proper football club like ours, with our resources and faithful fanbase should be streets ahead domestically, if we had the correct foundations and expertise in place.

Our academy should be the epicentre of talent and development, ran by professionals and providing the next superstars to our first team.

That it does not, is just indicative of where we are.

A proper club has the means and individuals, to identify and sign the best talent out there for our needs.
Whether that is Europe, America, Asia or our own SPL.

That we fail on so many levels is down to the incompetents running our club.

The only way we can start to improve is by completely freshening up every aspect of our club !

Unfortunately, this does not look like happening, anytime soon ! HH

  2. If we had a half decent academy we’d never need to look to Scotland…

But we fuckin ABSOLUTELY DON’T !

Shameful on the suits and the ‘acadamy’ (more remedial perhaps) coaches !

  3. James, I noticed from your list of strikers that you did not mention Leigh Griffiths, why not?
He was a great Celtic striker that we got from an SPFL Club. No?

    1. I think we actually signed the Griff from Wolves, but he was still a product of the SPFL.

  4. The real problem is we have created a league in Scotland that is almost impossible for us to lose. The standard is so poor it is no longer considered an achievement to win it. We have a real chance of 5 in a row and we are absolute shite.

The league in Scotland has been shite for decades. In the 80s we got to european cup quarters and gave Real a proper game. Aberdeen got to the quarters also and Dundee Utd. were in the European Cup semi final! Aberdeen won 2 european trophies and Dundee Utd in the final of another.
We only won 4 league titles but had elite class players like Nicholas, Johnstone, McStay, McLair, MacAvennie, Provan, Burns.
The celtic teams of the 80s were way better than the recent, invincibles

Now we have a set up where not winning a treble is a failure.

We need total restructuring of the game here!

  5. Agree we should be looking for better but we have also had some great buys over the years as well. Stuart armstrong was a great signing. I personally believe the boy Just is a fantastic player and could be perfect if bought along with more quality

  6. Mr Mojorisin @ 6.07pm…

Split the gate money in ALL League games and you’ll have a competitive league…

As for Europe in the 80’s it was far better…

Champions went into a competition for CHAMPIONS…

Cup Winners went into a league for CUP WINNERS…

Unlike the corrupt corrupt set up in Europe nowadays…

Fuck paying a half penny towards Bent UEFA tournaments these days !
