The Last Dance famously ends with the Chicago Bulls winning their third title in a row and their second hat-trick. Every fairytale should end that way.
Today, Martin O’Neill’s fairy-tale ending at Celtic has come about. The man has done wonders. The man has worked miracles. This is an exceptional day for him and for this club.
There are people outside this club still making noise, still showing bitterness, still showing their frustration that they don’t have days like this. That is why days like this are to be treasured. They are to be treasured because there are football fans who never see them.
There are football fans who grow bitter about never having seen them.
But we have them all the time.
A double last season. A double this season. It feels like this can go on and on now. Who is going to stop us? Who out there is better than us?
It feels really good.
There are all sorts of concerns over what the team will look like next season when so many of these players may no longer be here, but that’s just new heroes waiting to be born.
Who thought Iheanacho would play such a big role when he signed? Who thought Maeda would rise again to become the most lethal player in Scotland? Who saw Arne Engels turning in a starring role as the season approached its close?
This is Celtic. Every time a legend leaves, another waits to emerge. They always have.
Believe it or not, there will be someone else when Martin goes. There always is. Celtic is a club that produces legends almost like on a conveyor belt, and the next ones are already out there, waiting to come to the fore.
The number of honours we have won over the last decade or so has been incredible. So many that we have broken our biggest rivals, and now we have broken Hearts in the literal sense. Today, it was Dunfermline’s turn.
BBC Scotland carried the comments of people who said that the whole world wanted Dunfermline to win it for Hearts today. Well, I’m sorry to snatch another fairy tale away from the whole world, but Celtic does not give a damn what the rest of the world wants.
I don’t give a damn what the rest of the world wants. I know none of you give a damn what the rest of the world wants.
We are writing our own fairy tale. We are making our own movie here, and we are the stars of the show. The only people who matter are us, and today belongs to us, just as this season belongs to us.
You could see that it was an emotional day for a lot of them. But today’s emotion was gladness, happiness and joy. It has been a good afternoon.
To see the players on the pitch getting their medals, walking around with the trophy, felt like the moment of fulfilment at the end of a hard campaign.
The 2025/26 season is over, and it ends on a note of triumph. It ends on a note of happiness. It ends with Celtic fans singing and the Celtic team walking around Hampden with the trophy back where it belongs.
We lost it last year, as Paulina said this morning. It is just a pity that it’s not a treble.
But there’s always next year. That is how this club works.
For some people, there will never be another year. For some people, there will never be a day like today, celebrating a double, celebrating absolute triumph. For some people, a sniff of the prize is as good as it gets, and it is never going to get that good again. As I said this morning, I don’t feel bad for those people.
I just feel good for us.
Nobody can deny that we have worked for this. Nobody can deny that we have earned it. People can talk all they want about cheating. They can talk all they want about Celtic having infiltrated the top tier of the game. We belong in the top tier of the game.
We have no sugar-daddy owner. We exert no outsized influence. We have not run up debt or lived outside our means. Everything that happens on the pitch, the trophies, the titles, the glory, all of it comes from the pockets of the fans in one way or another.
We just keep on winning. We are a special club. We are a special support. We are a fairy tale. We are a magical story, and it is fitting that this season ends on a magical note.
This is the end of an era. This is a team that may now be broken up. This is a side that is going to have to be rebuilt.
But the heart of this club remains. As long as we are here, it always will.
What a story this has been. I am not even close to being finished talking about it yet. But ladies and gentlemen, we have done it. Game over.

A very satisfying end to a complicated season, we can all be proud of out team’s efforts despite the obstacles they had to negotiate to get there. Well done to every last one of them, they create history as we watch on and applaud them. Our support encourages those efforts and we are all therefore part of that success in some small way. The Celtic Family is a solid and faithful unit, so we should be proud of ourselves as well.
I’m looking forward to next season already.

Only one thing to say to the sports media, the huns and hearts
GET IT RIGHT FUCKING UP YE
Never dreamed in January that we’d end up double winners and I honestly believe we’d have another treble if not for Nancy. In a twisted way I’m grateful for that spell because it resulted in Martin O’Neill’s recall. I seriously expected 3rd or even 4th place at one point (me of little faith). I pray that as a fanbase we don’t let this exonerate the board and even they themselves understand how much of this is down to our legendary manager.
Than you, Martin. Thank you, Bhoys.
Everyone on here and in our Celtic family, take it all in, take a breath, enjoy the summer. Hail hail and God bless you all. ?
Got a bit of emotion still and a shaky thumb put the ‘?’ at the end lol.
Totally agree.
Board took us within 2 points of losing the league with £70 million in the bank.
That is wreckless behavior and not good for an old timers health.
Amazing that this squad of players found the ability and motivation to deliver a stunning double. It should mentioned that definitely Outside Influences played a part. Thanks Derek and Hearts for their Away Game rank results. You had it lads, you blew it!
The forthcoming sales of Hatate, Maeda, Engels and Nygren ( grossing £60m?) should be spent on the playing squad and a coherent plan to upgrade and improve the club and its infrastructure. People should know that Corporate Raider DDs MO is bleed the assets and sell. He’s bled Celtic long enough and taken out millions over the years. No more! And No Robbie Keane! He’s just this years Liam Brady or this years Luigi Macari
Engles will not be sold , meada and hatate already have.
