  1. We seem to get fixated by the cash handout from the UCL..
We don’t belong in that competition. Teams like Dortmund and Villa ripped us to shreds yet many were saying it was a great campaign. We would be better off playing in the Europa.

Why the fixation with the UCL cash and the inevitable embarrassment on the football field?
Hearts have shown that with fraction of our resources and far cheaper players, a fraction of our wage bill they can compete for the title.
Yes they were up against one of the poorest Celtic sides of all time but there is no indication there are going to be any improvements next year.

I think we as a football side would have more to worry about if the Ibrox entity have zero european football next season, as their european competitions in recent seasons has been a distraction.

Didn’t seem to do Hearts any harm at all as they had their best league campaign in 40 years.

    1. I agree. In a perverse way the ideal scenario would be us to be in EL (decent money) and for them to fall into the Conf League which has no money but they will do relatively well (thereby keeping them distracted with many Thurs nights) until they get pumped by Brighton in the semi finals ?

    2. We do belong in that competition, we might not be challengers to your beloved English teams or the big dogs from the other top leagues but Kairat, Slavia, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Bodo, Qarabag, Olympiakos were all there last year. There’s no reason we can’t compete with the likes of them.

  2. Mr Mojorisin @ 2.11pm…

I actually agree that the bent and rigged tournament that is The Champions League has outgrown Scottish Clubs and therefore us as the most successful Scottish club…

I’d take the cash though as they might just spend a fraction of it…

Then keep the rest to hand to The Brit Butchers Apron loving chancellor Reeves !

    1. Indeed. I here folk saying we could be as good as Bodo Glimt if we were run properly. Lets look at that. Bodo Glimts best run in the UCL ended with them getting pumped 5-0 by Sporting in the last 16 last season
Is that the glory we are aspiring to?
We need to take the lead in Scotland and create a competitive league that people want to watch and the TV companies want to pay for. Most stadia are tiny and vast empty spaces every week. The viewing figures are paltry for practically all games, even the sky flagship “old firm”

Ps. if you haven’t looked at the news for 5 years how do you know who the Chancellor is? 🙂 🙂 🙂

      1. If we got to the last 16 like Bodo last year, Mojo, it would be a HUGE achievement.
Why belittle them just because they lost to a team who got to the CL semi’s?…

  3. One thing about them is they’ll gamble on it…

And they’ll make up the shortfall out of their own pockets…

Just like The Glib and Shameless Liar did…

Just like Murray did (bank and taxpayer with him though)…

    Just like Bampot Bennet did…

Just like Dougie the Daftie did…

All to please the screaming children that want the best toy car…

Cavanagh will be the exact fuckin same as it’s clear he’s now diseased with Sevcotitias !

  4. James, you mentioned that the huns were forced to miss out on a pre-season friendly against Dresden. Tell me please, in case I’ve missed it, but I haven’t read of any Celtic pre season friendlies anywhere. I would have expected games, tournaments etc to be in the offing and already publicised?

  5. Mr Mojorisin @ 5.25pm…

Over SIX years since I’ve watched the news…

Only things I watch are Sportscene, Springwatch (was on earlier) and Irish Political Programmes…

Other than that it’s an Irish Country & Western channel through Alexa and any shuffles of 50, 60, 70’s music…

There’s a two minute news bulletin on the radio every two hours that’s all I need to suffer of it…

It was The Celtic Blog that told me Reeves was the chancellor and told me she’s Labour so that places her like Wilson as a Butchers Apron loving bastard of the highest order…

SNP or better still a Scottish Sinn Fein if there ever was one is the best political way for Scotland…

Ireland well on its way to independence according to the Irish Political programmes thankfully !!!

  6. I don’t even know what players the tribute act, who came third last year, have left. They had so many loan guys I lost track but I would guess they have to sell probably Raskin and Chermiti to have a transfer budget or it’ll be free transfers and loans.
