  1. MN is essentially a sporran – he sits prominently at the front of the outfit, carries a few small things but more importantly stands in front of and offers a moderate degree of protection to the cock hiding behind him….

Even that’s not entirely true – there’s probably been more reported sightings of Lord Lucan in the St Enoch Centre in the last couple of weeks than there have been of our elusive CEO. Not only does he appear to be entirely absent from the managerial hiring operation, he hasn’t even put out congratulatory messaging about winning the double to bask in the success, which leads me to agree with your theory that he is probably in the departure lounge and will quietly move on once the other posts are filled. For the salary he draws, his lack of visibility is inexplicable.

  2. Dermot Desmond runs Celtic his way without influence or assistance from anyone.
He’s played an absolute blinder here and used Robbie Keane, The Green Brigade and all other dissenters to his potential appointment as patsies.
MON’s appointment was a done deal from the start. RK’s interview was designed to get the dissenters campaigning against him so that DD simply had to appoint MON under the guise of being bullied into by the dissenters, whilst knowing full well that he’d fall into his trap.
This makes it look as though DD was trying to be progressive but was forced into appointing the fan’s favoured candidate.
If the dissenters don’t latch onto this, then the outcome will be that the whole support (patsies included) will now be united behind MON and Celtic.

    1. You really think DD wanted to optics to be that he was “forced into appointing the fans favoured candidate”? I doubt it, I think he was giving MO’N due respect and time to consider if he wanted it or not.
Nicholson had the opportunity for a tap-in. Inform supporters on the Celtic app and website that O’Neil is our new manager before releasing it to the press. Instead we are now 18hrs after it is being widely reported in the MSM that the deal is done, and still nothing official from the club on the swanky new app or website. I’m guessing as it was late Friday afternoon, the board wanted a flyer. No doubt they’ll make it official at 9am on Monday when they’re back at their desks!!

    2. Thats an interesting take on the situation, after all most were not overly keen on MON getting the job originally, now practically everyone including the bloggers are celebrating the appointment.

For me MON deserves a shot at another season.

Regarding keane, my understanding was that keane knocked back the job, putting his family first….but your scenario is certainly plausible.

  3. Thanks to a good source…I’m confident that DD, and he alone, sanctioned the appointment of RK…I now hope to find out what happened…although. thanks to the zealots, I think we know…As for Nicholson…I agree he is deadwood and brings nothing to the table…He should be removed…BUT…ask yourself this…If you had a cushy number, which came with a huge salary and, presumably, expenses….would you give it up ??…Not sure I would…The Club is a total mess…and will stay that way untill DD and the Board are gone.

  4. “You really think DD wanted to optics to be that he was “forced into appointing the fans favoured candidate”?

Not quite DixieD67, I think he wanted the dissenters to think that, knowing full well that anyone who knows how he operates will know what his grand plan was.

He’s always stopped at nothing to get his own way, and this is one of the best examples of that. He won’t think he’s stooped low, he’ll be completely proud of himself for duping so many thousands of people that he has no time for.

    1. Sorry DannyGal, I’m not really getting your point.
I think MO’N was offered the job, but wanted time to think about it. I think DD probably then interviewed RK as he couldn’t hang about for ever. I think MO’N then confirmed he would take it.
I think DD would have given RK the job if he wanted it and MO’N didn’t. When MO’N wanted it, all bets were off.
I can’t believe we’re still waiting on the club to announce it, although that’s typical Nicholson.

  5. Take it you’ve all already signed up for next year though?
Say £700 then the strips and drinks say £300
That’s a grand they lift off you and will never leave while that’s ongoing
    Plc not fc

  6. Let us hope that MON’s short term appointment is whilst we find a replacement for Nicholson and then we look for a longer term manager solution. For now, I think we ought to have no complaints about Martin continuing for another season and hope it was a fix, albeit lazy, whilst we replace Lucan.

  7. My guess on holiday. I think MON’s appointment is a way of giving them a break so they can go to the World Cup without any hassle. They don’t even need to buy anyone in the meantime. Sorted.
I feel it is a little bit of a disaster because my belief is the team only try when they have to and that was in the last 5 games. We will be back to sauntering about the park curtesy of Maloney’s tactics until the opposition score and then they might do something.
Hatate will be back in Japan, thank heavens but a personal disaster for me is that MON might stop any sale of Engels and CMG will be retained as captain while Maeda will get his promised transfer,
so It look like we will be worse off.
It is a masterstroke by the board in that it has probably split and confused the supporters and put the protests on the back burner.

  8. “Where the hell is (the serial wage thief) Micheal Nicholson”

WHERE THE HELL IS LORD LUCAN !

  9. James you have just summarised one of two major concerns I have with Celtic at the minute.
You have also listed all of his negatives, but can anyone please give me ONE positive which he brings to justify his ridiculous salary.
    And Pablo nailed it.
While every Celtic fans screams and shouts about our arrogant, incompetent board, they queue up faithfully and pay their £700+.
My second mystery is apparently it costs millions (plural) to run the academy but Keiran Tierney eleven years ago was the last product.
Since then we develop and educate young talent the for the benefit of bigger more ambitious clubs than our own.
    Can anyone justify or explain????

  10. As a serial corporate wage thief of £17,000 he’s goin nowhere any fuckin time soon…

And neither would any of youse…

    And frankly – Neither would I !!!

  11. Good article James. Maybe we will find out in due course.

Not including the not another penny campaign does anybody know what the collective tactics are to get rid of the people we dont like next season?
