Humiliation after humiliation, covered by another humiliation. How long does this continue? How much more are Celtic supporters, myself included, expected to swallow before somebody finally says: enough of these pricks?
I have had enough. I really have. I did my evaluation piece earlier on; now I feel like I need to vent. Because the more I sit with this the angrier I get.
After what happened against LASK, I don’t want excuses, carefully prepared statements, pretty words or another round of promises about how Celtic are working tirelessly behind the scenes.
I don’t want another explanation for another transfer-window failure, and I certainly don’t want another performance from the pricks sitting comfortably at the top of Celtic while the club they are supposed to protect is dragged through humiliation after humiliation.
I want accountability. I want responsibility. Above everything else, I want change.
I listened to the 4 Tims podcast last night (it’s my first time and they were excellent) and I heard one of them say that at any other club there would have been at least one sacking for Tuesday night, and I found myself agreeing with that completely.
Because that catastrophic defeat to LASK wasn’t simply another bad night of football for me. It felt like a giant flashing warning sign screaming: LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO CELTIC!
Look at the squad, the recruitment, the planning and the football infrastructure. Look at the management structure and the way Celtic have repeatedly approached situations where ambition, preparation and proper decision-making were required. Then look at the result.
Celtic are out of the Champions League. LASK are celebrating and Celtic supporters are absolutely sickened. And, incredibly, on the very night Celtic suffered such a catastrophic defeat, Dermot Desmond, Michael Nicholson and Brian Wilson were there in Austria to witness their fucking masterpiece.
I honestly couldn’t make this up. If this were a dark Celtic comedy, somebody would accuse the writer of exaggerating. But this is real, this is Celtic, and I am furious. I am furious because I care, and that distinction matters. I am angry because I love Celtic and because I believe this club should be so much better than what we are being offered.
I want Celtic to be magnificent and feared. I want Celtic to walk into European nights with authority, quality and ambition. I want high-class players, high-class coaching staff, recruitment based on footballing intelligence rather than opportunism and a proper footballing structure.
I want people running Celtic who understand that this isn’t simply another business sitting on a spreadsheet. This is Celtic Football Club. This is Paradise. This is a club which means everything to hundreds of thousands of people around the world.
Yet I look at the way things are being handled and keep asking the same questions. Where is the ambition, the urgency and the accountability? Where is the hunger to make Celtic better? These people allegedly love this club; if they did, why would they not step aside? It is surely as obvious to them as it is to us that they are out of ideas!
Dermot Desmond. Michael Nicholson. Brian Wilson.
For me, this has gone beyond another disagreement about a transfer. It has gone beyond one player, one manager or one disastrous European result. This is about the direction of Celtic Football Club, and I don’t like that direction one wee bit.
I have watched Celtic supporters repeatedly become frustrated, angry, disappointed and exhausted while the same problems return wearing different clothes. Every time we think perhaps this is finally the moment when Celtic get serious, another problem appears, followed by another humiliation, another excuse and another situation where supporters are expected to accept less than they deserve.
I refuse to accept it anymore. None of us should. So let me make this painfully simple. No complicated Celtic PowerPoint presentation is required. No corporate vocabulary and no beautifully polished statement.
Desmond, Nicholson and Wilson, here is what you have to do.
Resign immediately. If you cannot take Celtic forward, get out. If you cannot provide the ambition this club requires or build a football operation capable of competing at the highest level realistically available to Celtic, get out.
If your answer to every crisis is another excuse, another explanation and another promise that things will somehow improve, your time should be over. Not next month, not after another transfer window and certainly not after another European disaster. Immediately.
Stability does not mean protecting executives simply because they have occupied their positions for a long time. Stability means having a competent structure, knowing what kind of football you want to play, recruiting players who fit that football and giving the manager the tools required to succeed.
It means having people in charge who understand the difference between running a football club and merely administering one. I don’t want Celtic administered. I want Celtic built.
Built properly. Built intelligently. Built with ambition, built for Europe and built for the future. If the current leadership cannot do that, somebody else must.
Step aside and let somebody better do it. Yes, I am angry, emotional and deliberately using strong language because sometimes polite language becomes meaningless when the same failures continue happening over and over again.
Let football people run our football club.
I am not interested in pretending everything is fine. It isn’t, and the LASK defeat should have been a gigantic wake-up call. That night wasn’t simply about eleven players on a pitch. It was about everything which happened before those eleven players walked onto it: recruitment, planning, preparation, leadership and ambition. When the final whistle went, all of those failures came crashing down around Celtic.
The players took the punishment on the pitch, but the responsibility goes much higher than the pitch. They have had their grade. The board’s would be a straight Fail.
That is why I cannot simply blame Martin O’Neill. I cannot simply blame Luke McCowan, Anthony Ralston, Reo Hatate or anybody else who had a nightmare in Austria. I cannot point at one missed tackle, one terrible substitution or one defensive mistake and say, there you go, that’s the problem.
The problem is much deeper.
A football club’s culture comes from the top. Its ambition comes from the top and its standards come from the top. If the people at the top repeatedly tolerate mediocrity, eventually mediocrity becomes embedded in the culture beneath them.
That is what frightens me.
Celtic should never become comfortable with mediocrity. I want this club hungry and ruthless. I want Celtic to look at European football and ask, why not us?
I want Celtic to spend money intelligently when the right player becomes available. I want scouts who know precisely what they are looking for, coaches who develop players and a recruitment department working alongside the manager instead of appearing to operate in some mysterious universe of its own.
I want a long-term footballing vision, and I want people at the top who genuinely understand what Celtic means.
Because Celtic is not simply another company. You cannot reduce Paradise to revenue streams, balance sheets and transfer valuations.
There is something much bigger here. There is history, identity and emotion. There are generations of supporters, including children falling in love with Celtic today who could still be talking about this club fifty years from now.
That is what the people running Celtic are responsible for.
So don’t tell me I am too emotional. I am emotional because I care. Don’t tell me supporters should simply be patient, because supporters have been patient.
And don’t tell me everything takes time. Of course it takes time to build something properly, but you need a proper plan first.
That is exactly what I keep searching for. What is the plan for Celtic? What is the plan for Europe, recruitment, the manager and the academy? What is the plan for building a squad capable of genuinely competing rather than merely surviving qualifiers and hoping everything goes our way?
What is the plan for turning Celtic into the club we all know it can be?
Because I am sick of watching Celtic arrive at important moments apparently unprepared. I am sick of seeing obvious weaknesses allowed to survive until they become catastrophes, and I am sick of supporters being asked afterwards to accept explanations for things they warned about beforehand.
If these clowns cannot deliver the level Celtic should be aspiring to, they must do the honourable thing and get out.
Leave Celtic to people who actually want to build something extraordinary and who understand how to construct a modern football operation capable of doing it.
I don’t want another humiliation covered by another humiliation. I don’t want another European night turning into another scar, and I don’t want Celtic supporters staring at the pitch asking where the hunger, planning and ambition disappeared to.
Most of all, I don’t want another excuse.
I want Celtic back.
The Celtic I believe in. The Celtic that fights, dreams and takes intelligent risks. The Celtic that walks into Europe believing it belongs there and makes Paradise shake because supporters believe in what they are seeing.
If the current people running this club cannot give us that Celtic, my message is brutally simple. Step aside. Resign the noo. No tomorrow, no excuses and no more humiliation.
Celtic deserves better.

Millions of People…… I have Aussie pals here with no Celtic background who love Celtic just as much, if not more than me. We had no choice, we were given Celtic (TFFT).
They chose Celtic and are only asking Why the charlatans are still in place, Why they are huting?? They chose Celtic…….. I can blame my Da?….. ok, I meant eternally thank??
Paulina there is no chance in hell that this board will resign, they will never leave the comfort of the Gravy train paid for by supporters. as was mentioned the other day it will be down to Mother nature to take its course then their offspring will be taking the hot seat. We will never be rid unless Supporters take action. On another note The team had 45 minutes to hold onto a three goal lead and blew it they couldn’t even organize themselves properly to hold on, Professional well paid sportsman playing like a Sunday league club. I am Pig sick of the lot of them, They let the fans down constantly and enough is enough.
Unfortunately, the spreadsheet takes priority and unless there are significant sales , I foresee journeymen loans filling the gaps and development loans with no option to buy.
I really hope Martin walks , no one would blame him and the pressure, embarrassment, humiliation that he must be feeling is surely impacting on his health situation.
I’ve read comments about Lask being fitter, stronger faster , I think the reality is they knew what was required and were confident and had belief .
We were hoping for the best but expecting the inevitable !!!
Have you not read the outcome of all the post match analysis Paulina?
It Luke McCowan who’s to blame for everything. The rest of the team were gliding along brilliantly on their way to the Champions League, then Luke came on and that was it, game over.
Well Luke was accompanied by all the other Celts in the team, the Scottish and Irish players. Everyone else was flawless, Nygren, Baur, Sinisalo, Hogh, Duran, Yang, CCV and Trusty were all absolutely colossal, your Celtic Lions, but the Celts let them all down again.
