I like your positivity Croybhoy67 but your comment "Well done today and I’d like to mention Liam Scales for his hard work and contribution" sums up why he's not Celtic Class. Hard work and contribution are good attributes at Dundee or St Mirren, but are not nearly enough to be called a Celtic Player. Celtic paid around £6m for CCV and Trusty. How many other clubs have scouted Liam Scales or Dane Murray and if they did what would they offer for their services? I would say £1m max! I like the two players a lot for their commitment and endeavour, but I'm not sur either of them are Celtic standard.

I only saw the highlights of the Sevco v Killie game, In the 2nd half Kilmarnock had more chances and shots at goal than we had in 180 mins against them. We've got to figure out what goes wrong with our team, when coming up against the Ibrox mob. Our legs seem to turn to jelly, and our record against them over the past two years has been poor.
PortoJoe
The only frustration today was that we should have been out of sight by 60 minutes and so giving us the chance to rest some key players more than we didn’t - we should have been in the position to take McGregor off on the hour and save his legs for future battles (including today we have 9 games in 29 days). Baur was excellent - maybe to be expected of a German international. Good to see Murray get needed game time - yes, a few slack moments but he needs first team football to develop. With AJ on the mend and van den Berg and Osmand to add to mix we should have more options to rotate/refresh the team. Any truth to the rumour that MON has moved north on a more permanent basis? This would be a good thing. People may say it was against a poor Motherwell side - but it was at a tricky away venue and Sevco were at home to the worst performing team in the league and they made no inroads on goal difference. A good day’s work.

First class article Boycie. I haven't met a Celtic fan who isn't raging with this board and want big changes. Sacrifice unfortunately is necessary after the disgusting statement last Saturday. Well played NC !
PortoJoe
I think the pressure on DD will need to come from the other major shareholders and specifically for them to stand up to DD and take the Club in a different direction. Whether these shareholders will respond to current events and planned boycotts we will soon find out. I think it more likely that DD would sell up or at least reduce his stake if he were being ignored/out-voted on a consistent basis. I am genuinely surprised that Lindsell Train, Chris Trainer and James Keane appear to be so passive in the face of what has transpired over the last 18 months or so. If DD could be sidelined and take a role as a silent/passive investor, and with his declared Celtic supporter interest, he could act as an effective bulwark from unwanted takeover approaches. We desperately need the circa 20% of shares in the hands of ordinary fans to become organised and champion changes in our executive management. And we need those who are relied upon to buy hospitality packages and boxes to start asking questions and make the padded seats feel less and less comfortable for the board.

I’m struggling to see what’s changed to take MON from his downtrodden statement from three weeks ago to yesterday’s statement that he’s now raring to go again. His words matched his demeanour three weeks and but yesterday it looked like the same demeanour, but with words that didn’t match it. Could the difference be that he’s been told he’ll only be paid if he sees out his contract till the end of the season? That would enable DD to do the sacking and prevent a repeat of his humiliation at BR walking out on him. Why do the protests from even the most rebellious fan groups, always fall short of touching the boards steadiest source of income? Season Tickets? Has the time now arrived for that to change?

Martin Martin Martin Thought he would have had more experience in dealing with the media. Looks like he has gave in and will just go through the motions until he is asked to leave. Feel so sorry it has come to this for him.

MON has chosen a side today and it "isn't Celtic", it's those holding Celtic back. Superb article JF. I was expecting him to be more conciliatory with both sides but he wasn't, he backed his boss 100% and chucked Celtic fans under the bus. Strange he would side with the people who have thrown him under the bus to.

James Just checked a few scores Champions league LASK 3-6 Liverpool Viking 2-2Bayern Munich Do you think the CEO's of Viking and LASK get paid the equivalent of £800K+ ? Like MUTE MIKE? Or their respective chair Person £500k+ Like weasel WEASEL WILSON? I would suspect that Martin, Malone and FOZZY are getting substantially more compensation. than there equivalents at both LASK and Viking! I would say probably nowhere near the amount CELTIC shell out. Both very small fish in the big pond. All Celtic fans need to ask is are we getting value for money in the management of our club? We are living of past glories build and the muppets in the boardroom are paying themselves way over the top for the results they produce. This culture was set in train by LAWWELL .He too milked the coffers and then got out when the temperature got to hot! I remember when Kenny Dalglish transferred to Liverpool for a record fee £400K. The journalists asked Liverpool about how much Kenny was being paid. The answer was. This is confidential but to give you an idea it takes the first 16,000 who come through the turnstile just to pay Kenny's weekly wadge. CELTIC fans need to calculate how many bums on seats dose it take to pay the weekly wadge for MUTE MIKE, WEASEL Wilson, Martin Malone and FOZZY. The figures at LASK and Viking would be a very small fraction I would bet! How come our results in Europe are piss poor?
PortoJoe
This is exactly what I don’t understand about DD. Not only him being a fan and seeing the continual lack of progress on the pitch in Europe, but also as a businessman with a focus on the P&L. Surely he can’t be happy to look at our wage bill and then see us continually struggling against European teams who spend a fraction of what we do on wages. To see teams with 10,000 or 20,000 capacity stadiums being technically superior, better coached and very often looking much fitter. With that lens on it you would be asking questions as to what you are getting for your money? I would hazard a guess that of all the clubs that took part in qualifying for the CL this season and those that qualified automatically, that our wage bill would put us comfortably inside the top 36 clubs. If DD is not for selling we need someone to get in his ear and convince him that with proper management throughout the club his investment could be doing a heck of a lot better both on and off the pitch.

Cgreen123 it appears you are having a conversation with yourself, friend. Merely replying to your points as opposed to taking a position on whether I think this team is good or not…. You may have a case of James Forrestism - time to step away from the Celtic Blog…..
Cgreen123
Fair enough but I just have a different view of football. It might be a sacrilege but I prefer Sevco's style where each player runs with and off the ball and catches defences out and not try to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Still getting into the box and passing out to the wing rather than shooting. I think at one point we had 80% of the play and still only one up. Motherwell have lost their last 4 games and are 9th in the league. Hassan not starting was mind boggling. You pays your money. We got the win and that's what was important but if you think we have turned a corner I totally disagree.
Rationale Zurawski
Yes Cgreen, you are alone or in a small minority with regards to today. Endless passing going nowhere was not the game that we watched today. Very, if not too direct at times. Different team with a few quality out balls(Jota & Hassan) available. Colby Donovan won’t be a right winger for the same reasons Andy Robertson never has been a left winger

Mr. Mojorisin
Sorry I didnt mean to offend you Terry but I am free to comment same as yourself. Im not a tory or a snob. I stand for equality for all, not just what is fashionable. You are correct I dont know you but I'm commenting on info you have given me. You are enjoying the saudi football. That is what I meant by people like you. The same goes for folk enjoying the saudi grand prix or the Qatar world cup, they are people like you in this context...it's sportswashing in its simplest form. I dont think anybody denies this but you can ignore it if you like. I dont think it is helpful to excuse it by pointing the finger at others though. Of course we have major issues in Scotland but I dont consider that a reason to give the Saudis a free pass! Both things can be wrong at the same time but on different scales. Gays and woman can now live with a lot more freedom and getting closer to real equality in Scotland.....in saudi it is medieval. You enjoy your heros making their fortune in the pro league though!
Mr. Mojorisin
Some fair points there Terry and of course these parts has many faults. Saudi is a whole different level from present day Scotland though. It is a place where football, motor sports, boxing etc. is used to distract people like yourself from the human rights abuses, the persecution and oppression of woman, gays and many others....and it obviously works. You enjoy the saudi football mate, sorry but its not for me. If the Houthis step it up a bit I can see them all scurrying back this way anyway. Funny you talk about zero hour contracts, foodbanks, dieing pensioners etc. and then mention Calmac needs to make even more money than he already has in the next few years. Ps. plenty of politics on this site Terry...did you miss the Robbie Keane articles? All the best.

Mr Mojorisin, The origins of our beautiful club was a Soup Kitchen set up by Walfrid. The purpose was to feed the starting people of East Glasgow .(1888) Last time I looked (2026)not much has changed in the East End of Glasgow. In some respect the gains made by the working class have all but vanished. The guarantee of the 8hr day gone! Holidays cut to the bone. Worst of all the people accept Zero Hour Contracts and Food Banks as a way of life. The beautiful buildings in the center of Glasgow were built with the, as you like to put it "Blood soaked money " from tobacco and sugars harvested by slaves sold and transported on ships build on the Clyde....Mr Mojo you were probably born like me under the "Butchers Apron" as most of the world know it. So this is a football discussion not world politics forum. Cal Mac has a only a few years to make a living before his legs give in. Cal Mac has been at CELTIC since he was a wee boy. Cal Mac does not need pompous asholes who live ln Cruel Britannia pontificating about "Moral Compass'. When they accept Zero Hour Contracts When they accept food Banks. When the accept poor old people dieing every winter of hypothermia.... the list goes on.....on...and on. So relax, get of your high horse and help the GB and The collective remove the tyrant running our beautiful club into the ground. P.S. I watch the Saudi Pro League games Live on free to air TV. The standard is very high. Ange and Brendan and our brilliant Coach John Kennedy missing nothing I would suspect. You are putting up with the three stooges Martin Malone and Fozzy?

The price tag doesn’t matter as £11m does not buy top players in 2026. Celtic fans are conditioned to think £11m is a huge fee. Sometimes you have to take a chance and we did. So far with the exception of one game, he does not look great, Duran is a far better player. Hogh had a purple patch with Bodo but he is now following in the footsteps of other players who have struggled when they left them. Hope things change but he just doesn’t right.
micmac
What the hell are you on about, CalMac had his best game of the season, his net bound shot in the 2nd half was diverted a corner by a Motherwell hand, and Robertson on VAR somehow didn't send the ref to the monitor. It was great to see McGregor shooting more from attacking positions, one of the best displays of the season and you still find something to moan about.
Richard Cook
I couldn't care less who scores our goals, just as long as we keep getting the goals to win games. Hogh played a good supporting role on Sunday. His contribution to our win was a good one. The questions being asked should be around why we didn't score far more than just 2? I also witnessed MacGregor failing to pass to his team mates who were in a better position to score than him. And he just blasted his selfish shots well wide of the 'The Well' goal. Even apologising to Hogh for not passing to him, after blasting a pathetic shot wide. Even putting his hand up and mouthing "sorry mate", twice. We got the win but questions remain. Why, at the 55th minute, did we have 80% of possession and not be 4 or 5 goals up? We had a lot of good play but many mistakes were still being made. We will be exposed AGAIN as soon as we play someone decent, ie: Benfica? I hope i'm wrong but time will tell.

Sutton is right and of course MON deflects because as I keep saying, it’s not his job to react to everything written or said about the state of the club, his job is to win matches so he shouldn’t waste energy trying to give deeper thoughts on things like Sutton’s article because he will only fuel the fire. We’re not winning matches and his focus is on tomorrow. MON will keep getting asked to respond on behalf of the club to “Frank McAvennie says” or “Chris Sutton wrote” or “What about the protests?” and it’s unfair, he’s not the guy to answer these things. As for CCV, he was right too, but it’s pretty suspicious if he’s suddenly injured, does MON need a scapegoat to re establish his authority? We really need a win tomorrow.
TerryHK
Spot on James. I noticed from the press conference when asked about injured players he slipped in CCV has a strain. If CCV is missing tomorrow it is because he is now considered a "Whistle Blower". He will be lucky to pull on the shirt ever again. No mention of the only world class player we have "The OX ' he has probably told the three stooges MARTIN, MALONE AND FOZZY too GTF after he was replaced by that dickhead we signed from Dundee The OX is probably in the departure lounge along with CCV and Cal Mac. The body language of KT is a concern he too looks well pissed off! Sunday is a train wreck waiting to happen. Support the GB and the collective!
Volp
Terry. I must add my own suspicions when I heard CCV was injured, given the put downs he has received by some ex-players but not Celtic fans.He probably is injured but it just wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't. Agreed KT and Calmac looked devoid of hope after the last embarrassment at CP.

On a lighter note: Police Scotland is investigating the sudden shortage of Tennis Baws in the shops. I’ve continually asked why Celtic don’t have a DOF or Head of Recruitment. This looks like the answer. What qualifications or experience do Ross Desmond have to fulfil this role? What does MON think of this, or is he even aware of it?

CCV Injured True or False. I hope that I am 100% wrong. I think that the new about CCV being injured is a downright lie. CCV is now considered a "Whistle Blower" for the comments he made after SEVCO pumping us for the second time in seven days. I wrote in an earlier post I doubt if CCV will ever pull the hoops on again . I stick by that comment. Let us see! I hope I am wrong. The demeanor of Martin in recent interviews is that of doom and cloom. His unswerving loyalty to Desmond and the muppets in the boardroom in the end will cost him his job and any slack he was given by the fans. We find ourselves in an impossible position. Our only hope is that Benfica has an off day!
PortoJoe
Completely agree micmac. On Welsh I’d go further and say that based on his performances at Motherwell last season he should have been brought back with view as a replacement for CCV. Sadly CCV’s injuries have taken their toll and he isn’t the player that James seems to think he is. To be in the position we are in given the number of CBs we have had in the building these past three years is beyond satire.
micmac
Trusty and Scales has got to be the selection over the next two weeks, they might not be up there with the best, but neither is CCV, and Murray is still very inexperienced. Unlike some people, I see Scales as a decent C/B, especially in the penalty area where he wins a hell of a lot of defensive headers. He is not a C/B that is good at playing out from the back, but when Celtic have no movement upfront, and the ball keeps getting played back to our C/B's it is a hard shift for any defender. Our big problem is in the M/F not at C/B, without a natural defensive midfielder we are wide open to the counter attack, players can run 40 or 50 yards at our C/B's without being challenged. The other point is, if we weren't going to sign a C/B why did we let Welsh leave for Swansea. Where he is now starting to fulfil his promise with the team at the top of the English Championship. Another ex Academy boy not appreciated at Celtic Park, and allowed to walk away. He starred at Motherwell last season and is now playing well at Swansea..
