Celtic In For A Goodie?

It didn’t take long for the inevitable to happen.

Being in contest with Blackpool isn’t sexy enough as all those who have been to Blackpool will testify. So, in time honoured and boring tradition we have been credited with an interest with reports stating that we want kept informed of developments.

During the live blog for the international friendly against Wolves there was a tweet that Badboaby was at CP. While dismissing, like most rumours on twiiter, I did think if true then he would be talking to the English side not us.

I still stand by that. The club, via Lawwell have admitted we don’t have an interest. I believe him.

With the forward trialists failing to impress – they suffered from playing with Steptoes Horse Syndrome, an aliment so bad that it would reduce Messi to a quivering wreak – for some this seems like a logical sideward step.

The player doesn’t have his troubles to seek. As one case drops another one opens and the weight of his personal baggage would see him banned from all airlines nevermind football clubs.

This would be a marmite signing. It would rival Scott Brown. The player would never be given the chance by some.

The problem I have is I can’t work out whether it’s some moral compass opinion or a based on talent opinion that leads people to this path.

In other news………

On Wednesday evening we did a  live blog. Despite technical issues meaning that the updates were as regular as a constipated puffin we are going to do it again. This time though, in the name of decency and sanity, if you want to add comments in the live blog format then we must check your papers.

It was as if every illiterate cave dweller in the world had descended on us. Moderating was impossible with the number of comments.

Please e-mail TheCelticblog@snack-media.com if you want to be added to the approved list for the event below (before midnight this evening) and future events (send me an e-mail anytime for future events).

Click the link above and hve a look at the format. If you want to post your views on Celtic V Inter Milan in the ‘body of the kirk‘ live blog you know what to do.

another club claiming Celtic are interested to push the price up. if we signed everyone we’ve been linked with this summer we’d have enough players to play for every team in the SPL. wouldn’t touch with a bardgepole comes to mind

I was “lurking” on KDS and read an interesting post, the person said we are probably being linked to him because the press and Rangers know he’s not going to Ibrox, they throw our name into the mix and when he snubs Rangers it can be “old firm snubbed” instead of what it should be “RANGERS SNUBBED…..AGAIN!?.. FFS WHATS GOING AT IBROX.?!!!”
Good theory, in all honesty he’s a good striker and i hope he doesn’t go to Rangers, don’t want him at Celtic unless it’s to stop Rangers getting him, he’s too similar to Stokes so wouldn’t add too much different to the team for 2 mil plus his wages.

  • kauto-star says:

I just don’t think we need that type of forward. Who would he replace in the team?

    • lordofthewing says:

If we are going to sign a forward the questions are: 1) Is he going to score more than Stokes? 2) Is he going to score more than Sammy?

If it’s answer 2 we want answered then Goodwillie is a target.

  • Soccerjunkie says:

If he’s ‘all that’ as a player why are no other clubs interested in him. For 2 million squids a lower level EPL should take a punt. Is he just over hyped in our ‘best wee league in the country’

    • lordofthewing says:

There is a lot of interest in him from the clubs you mute. No-one has meet the valuation yet.

  • BhoyWolfe says:

Good Enough Player but not sure he could deal with pressure of playing for us. He found it hard at united so magnified 100 times he would be a likely bombscare. Wide birth i would suggest.

  • Krys says:

Could also be the standard thing that if he does go to Rangers (and he still might if Whyte ever gets his hand in his “warchest” – tee hee) then they can say how great it is that Rangers snatched him from Celtic’s grasp, ooh aren’t Rangers so mighty and awesome and ra peepil and stuff.

But with him probably going to England anyway, the “Old Firm Snubbed” thing sounds about right. Lawwell also said stuff about Bellamy, so that’s what the media are focusing on rather than the “we don’t want Nicepenis” bit.

    • lordofthewing says:

My first impression was that we were being set up to be delivered a snub when he went to them….not anymore.

      I’m buying the OF thing…

  • colin garvey says:

I also hear Celtic might go for ex Arsenal keeper Alex Maninnger now this we would be a class signing he’s excellent

I swear I would sell half the team to get him he’s that good.

HAIL HAIL THE THUNDER SHALL ROAR FOREVER MORE OVER OVER PARADISE!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

Celtic supposedly “snubbed” by Musona in favour of Hoffenheim in the Daily Record, odd that since Musona said about a week ago he was already in talks with Hoffenheim before Celtic showed an interest and would not consider a move anywhere else unless talks broke down. Strange article.

I live in London so its ESPN. It was painful and depressing and I cannot understand Lenny’s obsession with Samaras. The Greek is useless ! Then there’s the style of play.pass across midfield or backwards, allow opposition to get 10 men behind the ball and then attempt to go forward into a very crowded pen area.Surely Lenny’s worked out that the way to score in modern football IS GET IT FORWARD FAST ! WIN IT IN MIDFIELD-ONE ACCURATE PASS TO A FORWARD BREAKING PLAYER AND THE FINAL PASS TO THE STRIKING PLAYER FOR THE GOAL .It’s not rocket science ! Quite frankly I thought it was an embarassment and those guys a disgrace to a famous jersey. All too often crap crosses and the poor shooting-what do they do in training ? No signings ! I hate to say it I fear the Euro games
coming.Financial prudence is one thing but Celtic is a Football Club and after the big Cup failures last season it doesn’t inspire confidence.Wolves turned down £12m for Fletcher-the Tic could have got him for £3-£3.5m.They would have won the league then £15m from Champions League (which they got in the end). Then there’s Mr Desmond-all other businesses INVEST-what the hell why bother ?
I know that there’s financial reality but Celtic have been going backwards for years.Mo Johnston was a pivotal moment-I remember thinking it’s going to be a LONG way back from that ( I certainly didn’t think it would be 9 YEARS ) AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED ! AND THEN HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF WITH FLETCHER and Rangers ended up getting automatic qualification to CL on the back of Celtic’s efforts.Talk about an own goal !! Then there was that ICT disaster-ffs a title at stake and even that could have been sustained if Samarasshole hadn’t missed the pen at Ibrox.I was listening to that game on the radio and when I heard that HE was going to take MY HEART SANK ! Of all people ? A guy who scores Once every six months – a pen at Ibrox ? give to Mr Confident ,NOT that Greek Tragedy. But here we are in 2012.Please team DO IT but I fear the worst.Sorry I don’t think the quality is there and the deficiencies haven’t been addressed.HOPE I’M WRONG
