maloney ensures celtic are on the draw.

lordofthewing November 23, 2010

Let’s talk a bit about football.

Saturday, at half time, the thoughts were that it was a game that could be tagged decent. Both teams playing the game the correct way, chances being wasted and the promise of a bright second half.

Whatever was said at half time, in both camps, saw tedious dirge and sloppy second period with misplaced passes and sitters being passed up like a Royal Prince being offered his cousins. The only surprise was the equaliser came as late. United deserved their draw and Celtic measured up to that.

Celtic can look at missed chances, with Ledley’s very costly, and blame individual mistakes. My problem is the player who cost us the dropped points has previous.

Shaun Maloney against Hearts tried to back heel the ball in the centre of the park just after we went down to 10 men. On Saturday he made a challenge which even if not done in the 93rd minute was deemed rash.

He gave a team the chance to attack our Achilles Heel and gave them an opportunity to exploit the only way they were going to score.

You can only spend so much time trying to bend a rubber toy into a different shape before it reverts to it’s usual state hitting you in the eye.. Maloney is drowning with this captaincy. He epitomises the lack of mental strength our manager cries we lack.

The ratings.

Double F, easy day earning money, 5. Cha, un-noticeable, 4. Rogne, looked like he had a doze of the Loovens, 4. Danny, the goal cost you, 2. Lizzy McGuire, decent first period, 6.

McGinn, an away day bird, 5. Ledley, not your fault the manager doesn’t see you need an extra pair of legs alongside, 6. Ki, distracted by those $hagging squirrels on your head, 5. Maloney, Sir, You Are A PIE!, 0. McCourt, malaised like the rest of them, 2. Juarez, again, too late and worthless sub, 2.

Samaras, another worthless change, 2. Murphy, never a threat but link up play impressed, 6. Hooper, comparisons to Boyd and McDonald are well wide of the mark, 8.

Lines are now open to vote for your Wagner.
