I would like to see other instances in which bans were trebled on appeal. I would also like Fifa and Uefa to draw guidelines on such matters given the nature of the modern game. No manager should be punished so severely for heat of the moment comments. If we take the fire out of the game, we lose the attraction. If we lose the attraction, we lose the lot. Thank you.

  • I don’t think his first ban should be a 6 game ban. I think the 6 match ban is a reaction to the pressure they have been put under, rightfully. Any other manager would get a 3 match ban or at the very most 4 games.

  • stevie carlin says:

Absolutely vindictive and completely out of proportion or without president. Yup exactly what we have come to expect from the sfa.

  • Nathan Taylor says:

6 match ban for a 1st offense? 6 match ban for any moderate touchline infringement is harsh but for a first time offense… un heard of. Only in Scotland could this happen. Only to Celtic could this happen. Only to Neil Lennon could this happen. The man is bombarded with hated from every direction including the governing body of Scottish football. Three days ago he had bullets addressed to him for God’s sake This was a judgement full of spite and nothing more. Neil Lennon lead a heroic effort to get transparancy and accountability applied to how the SFA does there business. Liars and bigots lost their jobs over it and now the SFA get there revenge. Well it only goes to prove that there are plenty more liars and bigots within the SFA to seek out and send packing.

I hope Uefa or FIFA take heed of what is going on inScotland and get involved because Celtic need your help.

  • celtic hub says:

    Celtic hub backs Neil lennon.

    Treated unfairly.

  • Derry says:

The SFA have been to severe on Neil Lennon ,a 6 match ban is to harsh.

  • Steesher says:

The 6 game ban given to Neil Lennon is too severe, especially when looking at the punishment given to others for similar offences.

It was also his first offence and that makes this decision even more ridiculous.

  • Empire67 says:

A petty and disgusting punishment, which is unwarranted and unfair. We should be able to just get on with football but are thwarted at every turn with increasingly ridiculous decisions being taken by the SFA and their numerous committees of people with questionable motives. This can’t be allowed to continue.

  • mickey says:

SFA are a joke sooner or later this biased cult will be found out. never heard of a 6 game ban before. there should be an inquiry into the sfa and the decision on this farce of a ban

  • paulybh0y says:

even in Oz we realise that a 6 match ban is completely ridiculous

  • Oz Celt says:

All we have to date is the sentence.
There is no explanation of why it was so severe.
So,the question has to be asked, WHY.
It would be safe to assume we know the reason why ;he is Neil Lennon Manager of Celtic,
Time for ALL Celtic supporters world wide to stand behind our manager, this injustice HAS to be challenged.
If the SFA want to try and do without us;let battle commence

  • Willhelm says:

    Dear SFA

I support a rancid little terrorist supporting football club and I’ve cried wolf all my life. I wallow in self pity and I feel extremely anxious at having so many non Sellik minded bigots next to me. Please don’t give Neil justice, treat him unlike any other football manager and award our club 3 points for sheer brass neck.

    Yours in abject self pity.

    • spikeybhoy says:

      Willhem grow up you fool.
Your statement says more about you than anyone else.
Why are you reading Celtic sites anyway. Pathetic.

    • Sean says:

The articulate rangers fan. One of the lucky ones who made it past borstal with their psyche in tact. Thats a lottery win then.

This is the type of person against us Celts. Nice i.p address Wilhelm.

  • john says:

The SFA are making a huge mistake. To the rest of the world this looks vengeful and excessive. It further supports Celtic’s view that they cannot get fair treatment in Scotland.
However, in Scotland it will be applauded by the supporters of one club who benefit more than any other from the help of this corrupt, bigotted body. Even the current Scotland manager thinks they are way too biased towards one club. It is time for UEFA to step in and ask what is going on. Lying, cover-ups, sectarianism the image of the governance of Scottish football has never reached such lows. An unprecedented six-match ban is outrageous and all outside the poisonous atmosphere in Scotland recognise it as such.
When Celtic win the appeal, and they will, what next for the SFA? How will they get revenge for McDonald and Dallas? We can only shudder to think. The Tricolour question may be raised again!

  • daveybhoy says:

Neil Lennon is sfill seen as a legitimate target for people to take out their frustration and hatred. The decision to hand out a six match ban is no exception to this thought process.

  • lordofthewing says:

I want UEFA to investigate institutionalised sectarianism and bigotry in the Scottish Football Association.

  • Guy Thomas says:

How can a ban be allowed? I live in England & this would never happen. SFA is biased & bigoted! They need to investigate anti-Celtic threats & punish all responsible!

  • Ian G says:

Why not demand the SFA reveal the procedure and precedent they used to arrive at this decision as well as the obvious conflict of interest in having the Kilmarnock chairman on the panel when Kilmarnock is one of the games lennon will now miss

  • joebhoy says:

This decision says more about the small mindedness of the SFA than it does against Neil Lennon. The punishment does not merit the crime this punishment for a first offence is unprecidented; we had the spectacle last season of Mixu Paatelainen being accosted in his dug-out by the opposition manager the aggressor only recieved a 4 match ban.

It has also come to light this organisation has a large contingent that participate in Anti Irish/ Anti Catholic rhetoric. The organisation is in disrpute this decision only compounds the matter.

  • tam says:

This smacks of a kangaroo court. It’s like a sherrif handing out 10 years for dropping litter just because he cant stand the person in the dock. Fortunately a sherrif couldn’t do that because the law wuoldn’t allow it, but this SFA panel seem to be able to do what they like no matter how blatently vindictive it is. Come on Stewart Regan, sort this out or give the job to somebody who can. This can’t be allowed to go on in the 21st century.

  • John says:

Walter Smith was given a 2 match ban for attempting to get into the Hibs dugout. Whilst pushing and shoving officials,he was acting in an overly-aggressive manner, eventually Smith was only stopped by the intervention of the police. In light of this, how can the SFA justify such a ban on Neil Lennon? Lennon’s action seem trivial when compared to Smith’s.
