Sweet Dreams Are Based On Debt Reduction

It’s interesting that our club released their annual figures this week when we play a game on the platform that usually stokes the imagination of the fan when dreaming of what we can achieve.

The figures reveal a stark contrast in the two views.

A reduction in debt, reduction in operational costs and a reduction in player investment tell the story of a club belt tightening and that the operating costs came in below turnover will cause admiring glances to glanced our PLC’s way.

The fact that we have our lowest turnover in a decade should also ensure that those glances become squints. It’s the PLC’s fault that we have got to that situation.

The truth of the matter while our financial return in this troubling time is impressive our return on what matters to most, the pitch, has been threadbare. This has been because of poor decisions and missed opportunities. The aftermath of these glaring own goals has seen a general feeling of being lied too, treated like idiots and a customer number.

While I’m all for living within our means and understand the whole economics of being based in the Best Small Country In The World but in a Quite Sh*ty League In The World That Get’s He Haw Tv Money I want them to please stop spinning by constantly bringing up Big Named Players to be linked with while claiming we can’t afford their wages.

I’m not interested in some £70,000 a week player who is looking at us as a pension top up or to fufill one of his numerous boyhood dreams. I just want you to show that once in a while that you are willing to take that gamble to ensure that our turnover won’t ever be this low again.

I do feel Lenny has been backed. Money has been made available but not all of the mantra that: everything that comes in will be spent.  We won’t always have a McGeady to sell to balance the books. The PLC should be praised and ridiculed in equal measure.

It’s only so often I can use the line we have nearly no debt and paid the Taxman as a retort.

Sion game is crucial for our season.
If we don’t get through to the group stage, we will probably need to sell Ki to keep the the books respectable.

My gut feeling is that our chances are about 60% (or 65% taking the possible FIFA factor into account).
We have been unlucky with early injuries to key players, but that’s not the whole story.

It’s all a big gamble by the sharp suited men, I hope it pays off.
