Team For Rennes

|

This is a toughie.

If you look up the word decimated in the dictionary today it reads: “Celtic’s squad for the Europa League game against Stade Rennes”.

Seven first teamers out and a couple who are not eligible.

It’s hardly the perfect storm for a game that is being termed: “Must Win” for our gaffer.

Agree with defence. But he needs to switch it up. McCourt needs to start. Its a joke he can’t get a game in this Celtic team. I’d consider Samaras instead of Stokes tbh an all.

    ————-Stokes————-
    McCourt—————–Forrest
    ————–Ki—————-
    ——-Wanyama—-Ledley———

Going to the game tonight… Fancy us for a 2-1 win… Rennes are a right good team but I think we will carry some luck tonight… It has to sway in our favour some time… right???

    Hail Hail

I think Ki is doubtful for Sunday and not being considered for this evening.
i like this luck idea. I`ll go for that. 🙂

Can’t believe that in this year of our Lord 2011 Samaras could be playing for Celtic tonight.

shame ledley’s injured, he’s been our only consistant player this season. this game is reliant on wanyama and kayal’s performance, as well as the partnerships between the strikers, whoever lennon chooses. midfield is key though, i think if kayal and wanyama stay solid and protect the defense, we win, if not, heavyish defeat.

Well that was a turn up for the books!
Usual European start; two minutes in and a goal down….. all too predictable and from a corner too.
After the first fifteen minutes during which Rennes chased and ran down everthing the game settled into a midfield battle…… sometimes literally.
We ultimately scored with three of our four shots on target and the one that was saved Stokes put into the net for the first goal.
We all look at different parts of team but I thought Wanyama had his best game yet. Kayal also put himself about like last year.
Forrest changed the game by coming inside for ten minutes midway through the first half.
Paddy McCourt must learn to shoot with his left foot. You can’t continually run round a ball to get it on your right and not be closed down.
Stokes and Sammaras for me were still too far apart but Stokes scored two and Samaras set up two so what do I know. Big Sammy even won a header or two.
A seventeen year old came on to play centre half and looked as good as anything we’ve seen there for two seasons.
Commons even managed to get 25 minutes in.
All in all a good hard fought victory.
Final mention too the guy who, when the ground was emptying at full time, walked through the security cordon swapped flags with a Rennes fan, hugged him and walked away with no bother at all. To me thats what playing in Europe is all about.
