Anti UEFA Banner In Udine Makes It All So Easy (Pictures)

|

Instead of focusing on a great display the papers this morning reflect on the above with all the glee of a vulture looking at a rotten carcass. Rest assured EUFA were made aware as the Scottish press in the post match press conference made sure of that.

While this was agenda driven they weren’t the real villians on the night.

There is a Mancunian proverb (well it might not be but it was sung by a Mancunian profit bedecked in sportswear) which says :

“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog”

While that’s true as many a fighter has found out the home fighter always wins on points. This is a fight that won’t go to points.

This was a misguided battle.

I hope the IDIOTS who made this banner are happy when UEFA take more action against the club. Self-indulgent morons.

    • lordofthewing says:

It’s hard not to have that opinion this morning. Petulant is another wordthat springs to mind.

    • Gavin says:

Spot on. There’s some Celtic fans that are getting a bit carried away with their cult following and wallowing in the sickly praise they achieve whilst also getting the club and good fans into the dirt. And somehow I don’t think eufa needed the press to alert them to the banner!

  • Wildrover says:

Seriously ?! Congratulations, you got your 15 seconds of fame. Now go and crawl back under your rock. Cretins.

We’re going to get absolutely hammered for this.

  • bryan says:

back the team f*** the fans
not realy the best fan in the world

  • Ciaran says:

F T Pope is ok though. UEFA are far more important.

Is the old corrupt, racist guy still in charge?

Or am I mixing them up with Scotland?

    • lordofthewing says:

      Is Platini a racist?

    • Wildrover says:

Not sure what you’re getting at with FTP. That’s a completely different argument and is no justification for this idiocy (apologies if I’m reading your comment wrong). I’m not saying that I’m happy with events that have transpired in the last few days, but there are better ways to go about it.

Scribbling expletives on a banner makes you look like a petulant, ill-educated ned. It tarnishes the wider support, the club and gives the media a stick to beat us with.

  • Piratebhoy says:

Im as angry with both uefa and lawwell(for not seeking clarification)as whoever penned that banner, but that banner was not thought out right. Something along lines of Who’s side are you on Peter? or Define illicit uefa? or Uefa:Racism fine, just dont sing songs of Resistance! Ill- conceived to display last night(even if its sentiment was right)

    • lordofthewing says:

Was it right though? UEFA have their faults but our fight shouldn’t be with them it’s with those who made sure they got involved.

  • Piratebhoy says:

Or even “Happy now Eddie Smith”?

  • Aodh na bPiostal says:

Whats with blanking out the word Fuck? It’s not as though it hasn’t been used on this site before.

  • Chucky says:

More of the Prawn Sandwich Brigade on here today. Not many of you fair weather fans were in Udine last night. Nah. Waddle up to the corporate boxes every two weeks in yer mohair suits, to moan and whinge about the library atmosphere, and when the Green Brigade do add a bit a life to the match what do you all do. Moan and whinge again.Fair weather fans. Unlike the hardcore who travel all around the country in all kind of weather.

Fair play to the Bhoys with the banner last night, at least they had the balls to stand up when even our own board didn’t.

I’d much rather if you all didn’t come within an arses roar of Parkhead.

Lickspittles the whole lot of you who don’t even have the balls to take a stand.

It must be lonely up there on yer pedestals.

    • lordofthewing says:

You cast the fair weather fan stone without knowing a thing about those who post. Inverted snobbery of an argument that. For the record, I was in Rennes, have a SB and go to a share of the away games but that doesn’t matter a jot. Some can go evey week, some can’t. Doesn’t make them our their opinions worthless. We are all in the same ship even if we are in different cabins.

I don’t tink you will find anyone that doesn’t think the GB do a great job. I know I do but if I think they have got this slightly wrong then I will say so. I’m sure they will observe my right to say so.

    • Stevie says:

Chunky your are a prick what gives your the right to come on here an abuse Celtic fans or are you a Shame supporter.
Lawwell for all his faults gave the Green Brigade there own section/area, don’t be surprised if he takes it off you.
Yeah the Green Brigade have added a great atmosphere to Celtic park but are they a bunch of daft laddies.
      FFS grow up.

    • Kingmonkey says:

Grow up Chucky, pathetic attitude. The ‘prawn sandwich brigade’ as you call them……Celtic fans who have been successful in life and pump money into the club? All credit to the Green Brigade for creating an atmosphere at games, but if they are responsible for this then I welcome the life bans coming their way. Don’t get people like you who seem to want to split the support into ‘us and them’ – if you can’t see how badly this reflects on the club then you are a fool. For the record I go to all away games, sit in the Jock Stein stand and don’t own a mohair suit…..where do I sit in your warped view of who is and isn’t fans?

    • g says:

      well said Chunky!

It seems that Celtic fans really do “care what the animals say” now.. we have lost our edge and the “dumbing down” of Celtic fans is almost complete give or take a hundred or so fans…

      sadly

  • Antoninho says:

Chucky get a grip of yourself man, there is a defining difference between generating a magnificent atmosphere which the GB do, (how many times have you seen the rest of us praise them for it?) and just completely making an arse out of our support. This is not the SFA we’re aiming a shot at here, it’s UEFA, who will simply not tolerate or stand for this and the resulting consequences of this are definitely worth thinking about. We’re supporters of Celtic football club, we’re anything but ‘the prawn sandwhich brigade’ and we know all about creating an atmosphere and we certainly don’t depend entirely on the GB to create or generate it for us, and they certainly don’t speak for me or the rest of the fans. Have your senses clouded by their rebellious defiance, but in reality, They’re simply landing us in hot water with their ill advised and stupid actions, when this was never an issue with us in Europe before, and when we had a reputation to be proud of, they’re just tarnishing it now. Enough’s enough.

    • Jimmy says:

Well said Antoninho, The Gb have a fantastic platform to do fantastic things at Celtic park and beyond, but fantastic atmospheres were there way before them, dont take the ordinary fan for granted, do the right thing or take your argument elsewhere, Celtic park or anywhere else is not an platform for pro Ira stuff, football stuff only thanks.

  • Max says:

‘Rest assured Uefa were made aware as the Scottish press in the post match conference made sure of that’

    WHAT A JOKE!

Thay had a banner with two feckin’ foot high letters saying ‘F*CK UEFA’ and just incase no one noticed their purile infantile wreckles banner, they thought, ‘hey, we’ll stick two big feck of flares infront of it just incase’!!

For ‘F*CK UEFA’ read ‘F*CK CELTIC’!!

No laptop loyal this time, no Eddie Smiths this time, no George Peat this time, no Dougie Dougie this time!

The people who are responsible for deliberately trying to make us the other side of the scums coin, and on recent events that’s exactly what we will be seen as, if we’re not already there, must be easily ID’ed.
ID them and bar them for life.
Celtic will be a far better place without them, as it was for a 100yrs before they were born!
These people are not supporting Celtic, no matter how much they spent to be there last night, they never spent it to support Celtic, no matter how many own Season books, no matter how much they spend traveling to games, they’re not spending it to support Celtic!
Our club is going to be destroyed morally by a handful of wee neds who are delusional enough to think that Celtic belongs to them and they can do what they like with it and feck every good man who put his hard earned cash into the club for over a 100yrs allowing it to exist today, while the rest of the support are being bullied into acceptance for fear of insulting the Green Brigade.
I know this isn’t all the GB, or even a majority of them, but these people, I won’t us the word supporter to describe these people, but they have latched themselves onto the GB and they must ultimately take responsibility for them, self-police or be man enough to take full responsibility for their actions, after all the entire Celtic support, players and the club itself have the responsibilty of the support as a whole.

    ENOGH IS ENOUGH!

    Celtics SHAME!!

    • lordofthewing says:

Did you hear the post match press conference? While I agree the banner was noticeable the Scottish Press made sure it was the ONLY topic that was being discussed at the presser. But, hey, I did say they were not villians of this panto in the blog.

The GB have added to the morgue that CP had become. But last night was misguided and that is being kind.

Oh, and I really don’t give a feck about the flares. As long as they are not throwing them or firing them at fans then they can light them all they want like the hundreds of others that were lit in Europe last night.

      • Max says:

The press spoke about it at the press con!!!

        WOW!!!

That really came out of left field!

Who would have thunk it eh!

Or hold on! Maybe the people responsible for the banner might have thought about that beforehand, maybe, as usual, these wee neds were looking for as much atention as possible, like the spoiled children they are, who can’t stand to be out of the limelight for a second!
You trot out the usual crock about ‘morgue’ CP, it’s the same crock we hear EVERY time these wee neds embarrass OUR club.
‘He’s a rare chanter ‘M’lud, and he fare brightens up the place your Honour’ are not defences that will stand up in any court in Europe and that includes Uefa.
Were you ever in the Jungle?
Would you ever belive it could ever be replaced??
It’s a pathetic excuse for these wee neds behaviour and one that’s worn thinner than a Rizla!
If you want to align yourself with these moronic cretins please do, I myself am better than that, as is EVERY Celtic supporter I know.

        ‘Misguided’

That’s your second biggest joke of the day.

BTW, to all you cretinous wee neds out there pretending to be Celtic supporters; ‘F*CK UEFA’???!!??
If it wasn’t for UEFA we would have been humiliated and punped out of the comp months ago!!
        @RSEHOLES!!

        • lordofthewing says:

Unsure why you felt the need to type such a long winded rant when I have actually stated that the banner was wrong. And why did you feel the need to ask if I was every in the Jungle? Real fan snobbery? Yes, I was in the jungle and no it hasn’t been replaced.

  • .....67..... says:

I welcome these idiots bringing further attention to themselves and the club. If it takes a European ban to finally make those hard of thinking realise they have to move on, then so be it.

The fair weather fans argument just doesn’t wash either…..many fans are fair weather because they cannot be bothered having to stand or sit beside these clowns any longer. Grown men using the “I’m a better supporter than you” argument, grow up…..

  • bhoylondon67 says:

The banner is absolutely not the Celtic way, we have always been better than this.

  • Bhoyobhoy says:

F*ck Uefa???….No, f*ck the mental midgets who dragged Celtic’s name through the mud once again, although like Chucky, they’re heroes only in their own mind.

  • Mac says:

The same UEFA who reinstated the club back into the competition.

The banner was uncalled for and embarrassing, but not half as cringeworthy as the one displayed at the Scottish parliament by Jeanette Findlay and her? disciples.

  • ianin440 says:

A Celtic banner is usually worth carrying all the way to Northern Italy but this one wasn`t. Where is the ironic humour if they wish to make a point. Not too bright lhads!
However it`s easy to get upset when it comes to football. I am positive that Liam McLeod, the BBC Scotland commentator was playing up to his mates during the match.
Just about a minute before Celtic scored he said/shouted that Udinese were trying some long RANGERS! Also at the end when he was about to pass over to Richard Gordon, his last words were shouted, `They`re out!` It`s good to know we are getting our moneys worth from the BBC. (rant over)
Come on the Bhoys on Sunday!

  • g says:

Lets all go along to Celtic “coca cola” park

pay over the odds to watch below par shite
    sit down when told to
    sing when told to
sing what we are told to
go and pay over the top prices for our food
fork out crazy prices for “official merchandise”
lap it up like the greatest fans in the world we are
give ourselves a wee pat on the back because we are so great
Go to europe and be friends with everyone because we are so great

Thank god for the Green Brigade because take them away, and going to watch Celtic would be like watching Arsenal or Man City, without the great players..Can you imagine Celtic Park on match days if they were not there?? me neither

When i was a young lad, many years ago, supporting Celtic had an edge, you were up against it,people hated you,it brought you closer to like minded people, Celtic meant something to you, something you could identify yourself with…Now?? Now it seems that Celtic fans are trying to become the tartan army (god help us)

Celtic is not a football club anymore..now it is just a big corporate money making machine which take take takes and gives very little back…

    However,

The soul of the club is being held together by a merry band of few hundred dedicated souls who live and breathe the club..take them away and watch how quickly the club dies…

so i put this to the Seville generation, Be careful what you wish for

Can anyone on here actually say (HONESTLY) that they LOVE going to Celtic park these days??

  • johnd says:

It’s as if this plan was hatched by ‘Follow Follow’. What a stupid thing to do. Lacking in wit, intelligence and humour. When people say Celtic and Rangers are just two sides of the same coin it is these clowns they refer to and this kind of behaviour. Very, very poor.

  • Chucky says:

Kingmonkey obviously owns a monkey suit.

  • Chucky says:

Away and hide under your mothers coat Stevie.

  • seaney67 says:
