Brendan Rodgers has given Efe Ambrose a start in today’s friendly match. That shouldn’t worry us as much as it might have if this had been a competitive game. He can’t screw up that badly, surely?

Reports of his going to Germany might have been exaggerated. I wonder if this is seen as a chance to put him in the shop window? Not many people would consider this a good place to do that, but if you do it elsewhere you risk the whole window coming in!

All jokes aside, tonight’s team doesn’t have the “experimental” feel of previous matches. The midfield is strong and he’s gone for two up front, which makes me want to dance around the room in joy. Dembele and Griffiths start together, the partnership we’re all dying to see.

The performances in the first two games have been alright. The second half in the first was superior to the first half and the first was better than the second in the other. There will probably be a lot of subs brought on at half time.

Until then, let’s enjoy the spectacle of our top key strikers on the park.

As ever, I’ll do an after match report.

For now, this is the line-up.

(4-3-1-2) Gordon; Janko, Ambrose, Sviatchenko, Tierney; Bitton, Johansen, Brown; Griffiths, Dembele, Henderson

Subs: Bailly, Fasan, Fisher, Izaguirre, Ralston, O’Connell, Armstrong, Christie, Rogic, Allan, Roberts, Ajer, McGregor, Lindsay, Ciftci
