The Ibrox illiterati were squealing blue-murder this week.

Their target was BBC Scotland, because Chris McLaughlin had dared to interview Craig Whyte. In the same week, the BBC also interviewed Maurice Ross, removed from job at Notts County for racism, a subject that not long ago had their fans extremely animated.

But no, of course, it was the Whyte interview which sparked their furious reaction.

I love it when they have to talk about Whyte, because it must be really difficult for them to do.

How do you discuss Whyte without talking about what he did?

You simply refer to it as “what Whyte did to us” and go no further.

Or that’s how I’ve seen them do it, anyway.

It’s amazing, and hilarious, to see the contortions they go through to sustain this 55 pish and all that surrounds it.

Whyte is the bad man who DID SOMETHING TERRIBLE to them … and should have suffered for it, but he “got away with it.” Ask them what “it” was and see their wee faces.

The thing of it is, Whyte had his hands on the wheel but it was someone else who jammed the breaks and ripped out the wiring in the steering. I’ve always loved how easy it is for them to blame Craig Whyte for their death – not that they call it that – whilst ignoring that anybody in the position he was in would have had no choice but to do what he did.

The damage was done at that club years before, and I understand why they have always been reluctant to accept it, and reluctant to appropriately apportion the blame for it.

This was Made In The House Of Murray; all the success they enjoyed was built on sand.

And that’s hard for them to accept, because when you put it like that it has an awfully familiar ring to it.

Think on it this way; fans who had been through the trauma they have should be determined, above all else, to see that it never happens to them again … yet their second club is just as insane as the first one was and instead of being afraid they cheer it on.

This is why their hysterical reaction to the Whyte interview is both fascinating and instructive.

Their club ran out of money on his watch, but it could have happened at any time in any number of other ways. He didn’t have the cash to pay the bills, that’s all that happened, but the seeds of it were sewn long before he waltzed into town.

Whyte lied to them. But I’ve never believed that’s why they hate him so much.

I don’t even think they hate him because he killed them.

Not that he did.

If you’ll permit me an analogy; he found the body lying there, bleeding out. But someone else did the deed.

It’s not what they despise him for. They despise him because they were still supporting him and still fighting his corner when we were all hollering at them that he was leading them into the abyss.

You have to marvel at how demented the Peepul must be that they are screaming at the BBC when it was the BBC who were the first mainstream organisation to warn them who they were dealing with.

Yes, the Celtic sites were doing it way before that, but the BBC broke it wide open and exposed who Whyte really was and what he had been up to before.

Remember Sevconia’s reaction? Their fans picketed the BBC! One of the loudest voices against the broadcaster, in defence of the guy, was one of the loudest squealing at them for giving Whyte the interview.

You couldn’t make that up.

George Orwell would have written ten non-fiction books about these guys and they would have made 1984 an even better read.

They are never going to accept what actually happened, or who was really responsible for it, and those are the reasons that they are doomed to repeat the same mistakes … and they are doing so, and their club is doing so as well.

It only ends one way, and some of us can clearly see that. But as they were never punished for it, as they were never properly held to account the thing that teaches us best – consequences – don’t apply to them.

And that’s why it’s going to take another lesson for them to get it, and you know what?

Such is their ability to bend and warp reality, I don’t even know if that will do the trick.
