Ange’s European Cup Put-Down To A Hack Today Was As Magnificent As It Was Brutal.

They’re just not getting it, are they? They just aren’t grasping that the man they are talking to now is streets ahead of them, in intellect and integrity, a man who will not suffer fools and will not even pretend to be impressed by their attempts to look smarter than they are. He catches them every time. He calls them on their bullshit over and over again.

Today at the presser, Ange Postecoglou was at his brutal, brilliant best and the slap he gave the hack who asked if the club could learn from the Ibrox club’s European run got exactly what he deserved. I asked a similar question about Bodo/Glimt, who beat us. Ange didn’t shoot that one down but made it clear that this club charts its own course … how stupid that some hack thought he could mix it up by trying to get him to praise Ibrox.

Bodo didn’t make it to the semi-final, but their European run was far more impressive than that of Ibrox, which more and more boils down to one result – albeit an outstanding result – against Dortmund. Ange was clear that Celtic does not want to “learn” from what others have done but only what we have done. I heard him say it, we all did.

So that question today was nothing but somebody over-reaching and thinking that they were smart enough to get him to shower praise on their favourite club. Even if the bear trap was not so big and obvious that only a fool (which Ange isn’t) would have gone near it, this guy is already weary of being asked about other clubs … he only wants to talk about us.

And how beautifully he turned the question around on the questioner. How magnificently he swatted the very premise of the question aside. Not only by reminding the hacks that this isn’t the first time a Scottish club has gotten this far but to drive home the point that one – us – went further on a vastly greater stage.

To refer to Lisbon in his offhand way, to offer to show off the trophy we brought home from there, was simply wonderful. Had I been at that presser I would not have been able to stop myself from applauding him, probably even getting to my feet to do it.

He simply will not let anyone sneer at this club, and it is perfectly obvious that at the heart of the question today was a misplaced arrogance that he was not prepared to let stand. The guy is absolutely amazing.

Brilliant you would think the BENNYS in the press and media would be wise for the bold yin and his script, but no they all try to out do each other with the stupidness.
How do you confuse a Scottish journalist put 2 shovels against a wall and tell him to take his pick.
That’s how DENSE this lot are.

I think he is alluding to ‘picks & shovels’.
A derivative of the old ‘ thick Paddy’ type of humour.
As with all forms of humour it’s not so funny when you have to explain them.

To think these so called journalists didn’t do their due diligence on this giant character and laughed and mocked him must really rancl them.

A good answer to a stupid question, as is often the case with Ange. However we really need to back this up with some European performances next season. Our European record has been dire since before Rodgers and we really need to start making inroads there. I have more faith that we will invest from a position of strength now than I did under Lawell, but let’s see.
