Dumb arguments are all the rage in Scottish football, as all of us know full well. It doesn’t seem to matter how completely you knock some of them down, they spring up again in various forms, pushed by various brainless dolts.
One of them is about the best striker in the country. The only place that debate should be had is inside Celtic Park, where it’s a toss-up up between our two. Another debate is over who the best midfielder is. That’s Callum, followed by Hatate, followed by O’Riley, followed by Turnbull. Again, a debate only fit for being had inside Celtic Park.
The debate over wingers comes down to Jota versus Abada, no matter what Ryan Kent’s gushing media fan-boys might want you to believe. Really, you could say that Haksabanovic could be a contender, and maybe even Maeda too. James Forrest still gets amongst both the goals and assists and has proved that he’s a key part of Ange’s team.
Ibrox has always been proud of its defence. But we have better full backs now and I’d say that we have a better keeper as well. That leaves only central defence, where nothing I’ve seen about Davies convinces me, and Goldson is a bomb-scare who no sane manager would ever have tried to construct a solid backline around. Souttar right now is where he’s going to be for as long as he’s at Ibrox; alternating between the treatment room and being shown up when he plays.
The best central defenders in Scotland are at Celtic. All of our starting three would get into any other team in the country without exception. But what’s become increasingly clear, and which his performance last night makes certain, is that Cameron Carter Vickers has no equal and no rival. He is the best centre back in Scotland, hands down.
And only the most ignorant, or wilfully blind, Sevconut would argue with that verdict.

Yes, CCV is out on his own and he is by far the best defender in Scotland, no one else even coomes close.
Along with Jenz and Starman we have the best defence in our SPL table. CCV has grown imensly, alongside all our back 4 picks.
