That Was More Than Three Points Today. Rodgers. Celtic Is Now On Stage.

That, today, could have been the beating we’ve been due giving someone since this campaign started, the result that would have brought us back to the Ange team at its best or even more on the nose; the Rodgers team of the Invincible campaign. That’s how good that was in places. We created enough chances to win ten games.

Slowly, but surely, the pieces of this side are moving together in the best possible way. Rodgers has this team playing well now, and today well almost morphed into brilliant. I was delighted with them and very pleased that we’re another step down the road.

That should scare the living daylights out of the chasing pack. This team isn’t nearly where the manager wants it to be yet. A month from now we’ll score six or seven on days like today, and the game will most likely be done before the halftime whistle. The best of this Celtic side is still in front of it, and yet we’ve got a big lead in the title race.

There were some big, big performances today and Reo Hatate turned in the best of them. He was tremendous, and his goal was outstanding. But everything about his performance today showed off his quality. He’s not been firing on all cylinders so far; today is a sign that he too is getting back to his best. Once he does … watch out world.

Greg Taylor was tremendous as well. I thought it was one of his best games.

But the guy I want to say a few quick words about was Luis Palma. That one was his coming out party. He cameoed briefly in Motherwell, almost won the game the other night and would have but for an offside decision, but today was his day to shine and he did and he was excellent. There is no longer the least doubt that we’re watching a significant player emerging here, a guy with all the qualities necessary to become a clear fan favourite.

Anyone who pulls on the 7 shirt has to believe in himself and have confidence and he very clearly does. The confidence is justified in full by what he can do on the pitch. Luis Palma is going to be the next big fan favourite, the next big hero.

Now that we have momentum, I am loathe to go into this international break. But by God, what a great position to be facing it from; a strong lead no matter what happens tomorrow even if it ends in a St Mirren win and they cut our lead to a mere four points.

The international break will give us a chance to get over the last of our injuries, save for the one to Liel Abada who will be out for a while yet. But in terms of getting to the point where we’re looking again like a title winning side, well we’re there, we’ve made it, that journey is complete and Rodgers is now stamping his mark on the side … and that was great to see today.

Now we can genuinely enjoy the spectacle that tomorrow will bring, whatever that might be. And to be honest, I don’t care that much. I

’d love to see the Ibrox club fall ten behind us but I do believe we’ll have a double digit lead going into the home game in January. There are still those two massive away games in Edinburgh coming up on us … but I do believe this is now ours to lose.YY

Apart from a 5 minute spell where cheating officials wanted to take centre stage yet again, it was an outstanding team performance.
Only mystery remains as to how we only ended up scoring 3, as deserved far more.
Was a bit concerned going into the game about weather we might be licking our wounds after the lazio game, but right from the off we were on our game.
Shows just how strong the mental strength and togetherness that remains within this squad.
Hatate showed just how much form can be temporary, but class remains permanent.
So many good all round displays on show and this team is starting to gel together very nicely at present.
The worrying thing for the rest of the SPFL is we are only starting to go through the gears, as there is still plenty more to come from this team over the season.
Very pleasing day, even if our lead gets cut to 4 tomorrow?

Very Polished Performance and some team will take an almighty doin from us soon. A big mention for Hatate, that’s more like it. What Liel Abada makes of those banners, God only knows .

  • Joe Monaghan says:

Don’t like to complain after playing so well but I thought the ref was a cheat pulling us up for nothing letting them away with murder

    Great headline.
Big signs that we are building towards something that will excite us fans. We need to play our part and get right behind the manager and players. Seen a Celtic site on you tube yesterday carrying the headline Hatate must be dropped, negative nonsence. Time to recognise that we are are very much going in the right direction. Let’s enjoy it.

Was well pleased with the performance and Kilmarnock were fortunate no tae be on the end of a tankin. Palma’s lookin like he’s gonnae be a good yin, has a sweet right foot and knows how tae score. Hetate’s influence was all over the park. They all played their part and it was (apart from a brief 5 minutes) great tae watch. Yep, well chuffed.

Personally, I’m not harking back to the days of Ange, though fun while it lasted. I think BR’s record as a Celtic manager was better than AP’s on the day BR started.

  • Neil Smith says:

Awesome stuff Saturday… brilliant and with better finishing/luck a cricket score but the “debate” on Palma’s (he will be a true star) goal, dear god McInnes and the sportscene mob… yes it’s clearly a good goal but it shouldn’t stand coz the law is unfair ? what are these peepl on? And in 3 maybe 4 games I think the full Rogers effect will really kick in and it will be something to watch, man’s a genius… on an aside ange top of the league… incredible…how blessed we were and continue to be HH

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

It was indeed a very good win…

A bit of nervousness when SFA var cheat Dickinson allowed an illegal goal to stand though –

Glad that Brendan has called him out about it…

A nice win given that Kilmarnock had a free week and we had the tough Lazio match midweek !

  • Magua says:

    Palma on the wing?

    Hail Hail.

  • Johnny Green says:

I said at the beginning of the season that it could be an Invincible one, and I am even more confident now of that outcome.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Referees and VAR will see to it down the line that we lose one in The League Johnny…

They’ve already seen to it in The League Cup Match v Kilmarnock (although admittedly we we a team were pish poor that day) !

  • Johnny Green says:

It was good to see Reo Hatate finally having a good game, it was long overdue. I have been saying for a while now that his attitude stinks and that he should not have been getting a game on his present form. I now see that he has admitted to not putting in 100% effort at times, and that, as far as I am concerned, is an inexcusable admission. I will never now fully trust him again and it will take a lot of top form efforts before I will possibly change my mind about him.
