All Around Celtic, The Ibrox Penalty Scam Is Hurting Clubs And We’re Next.

If you’ve followed the news from around the game today you already know that there was another penalty incident at Motherwell where the Ibrox club got away with one. Actually, I thought they got away with two. But the Motherwell manager was particularly incensed about the second, where Dessers pulls back a player who is almost through on the keeper.

In any other country that’s a penalty. Bottom line. It is not even up for debate. Not a single person in the commentariat that I’m aware of does not agree that it’s a shocker. Not only did the ref not give it but VAR didn’t bother to call him over for another look.

Of course, they didn’t. Ibrox is heading for two full seasons without conceding a spot kick in the league and there has been all sorts said on that subject but nothing has actually been done about it. What do we want done? We want officials held to account and for the media to ask questions. They don’t. They won’t. They are gutless and the clubs are toothless. All it would take is for one chairman to actually talk about this and call it out for what it is; highly suspect.

There is one run that I know of like it, and Alan Morrison brought this up in the Graham Spiers podcast earlier in the month; that of Barcelona who went on a run that has lasted even longer than the Ibrox club is on now. Theirs lasted 79 games, and they complained bitterly about the decision being “highly contentious” when they finally conceded one.

You know what’s notable about that run? It covers the period which is currently under investigation for their alleged bribing of officials. So that stat doesn’t represent a “statistical anomaly”, it represents a crime against football.

What I found honestly hard to credit about Alan Morrison’s stats was how Matt Lindsay reacted to them. He made up his mind before the debate even started and nothing Alan said was going to change it one bit. He, like so many others, starts out from the basis that the SFA and our officials are honest men. But refs have lied to Celtic. SFA officials have withheld the registration of Celtic players. Ibrox minded men at Hampden covered for a decade of EBT use.

And a lot of clubs in this league have suffered in the course of this run. Clubs in this league are officiated differently against the Ibrox club and that’s borne out in the numbers. A “pattern of assistance” Morrison calls it, rightly in my view, and nobody even wants to question it. Nobody wants an inquiry into whether or not this is bent.

No club in Europe is on a run like this. Virtually every club in Europe has seen the number of penalties given against them rise since VAR … Ibrox’s has flatlined on zero, it hasn’t moved a millimetre, maybe because there’s nothing lower than zero.

Motherwell suffered today. Ross County are next, at Ibrox in midweek. Then its our turn and if anyone thinks we’re getting a penalty they are quite mad. We’re more likely to see one given against us on the flimsiest pretext and as we’re the club with the biggest megaphone you’d have thought we’d have used it before this oh-so critical game arrives.

Instead, Celtic is as silent as everyone else as the Great Penalty Scandal continues to unfold. Ever getting the feeling we’re going to suffer for it?

  • Redmond says:

Answer: Yes. Why? Because we already have decades of examples of decisions not being given for us/ being given against us. History repeating itself and will continue to do so until our spineless board speak out about it.

    • Roonsa says:

Speak out about what? They get more penalties than us? They get less penalties awarded against them? This is not news to anyone, least of all the Celtic board. What, pray tell, would you have them do that would not have them open to ridicule?

This is not a job for the Celtic board.

      • Jim Duffy says:

Roonsa ,no disrespect, but when sevco last conceded a penalty their board complained to SPFL SFA and guess what they’ve never conceded a penalty since , coincidence or what.i think the last penalty they conceded was against Aberdeen , Lewis Ferguson scored ,they kicked up fuck ,never conceded since,DOH.

  • Neil Smith says:

Add the previous 44 no penalty run and what’s that ??? Something like 3 conceded in 4 four years in the league. Pattern of assistance without a doubt.

    • Denis Docherty says:

Just watched Sportscene as I”d heard that Motherwell were denied a stonewall penalty against the rangers and wanted to see it for myself. Imagine my surprise when the highly controversial incident upon which all three pundits (including two former the rangers players) on Sky earlier in the day had declared should have been a penalty wasn’t even mentioned on Sportscene. This is getting beyond a joke now. The pattern of assistance towards the club from Ibrox is undeniable and it seems that the media are complicit in the corruption of our game.

      • Jim Duffy says:

Denis our board are just as complicit mate ,by their silence , sevco last conceded a penalty against Aberdeen Lewis Ferguson a good true blue scored ,the sevco board complained about the award and ,guess what they’ve never conceded a penalty in Scotland since ,you couldn’t fucking make it up .

  • Brian says:

At the AGM the question was asked! Answer ! they found it funny. The time to question it was when we were winning, now it would look like sour grapes . But so be it. Get it done all top flight clubs.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

    All I can say is….

THANK FCUK that I gave up ma ‘bent’ season ticket a good while back –

I still buy Celtic merchandise and always will…

But at least I am getting value for my cash with the Celtic attire –

I was getting cheated on an industrial scale paying every two weeks to watch a corrupt corrupt ‘sport’

And 50,000 others attending Parkhead since are also getting cheated on an industrial scale…

We can’t say much about other teams getting shafted week in week out –

    But what about ourselves ?

Where was the outcry about the free kick that NEVER was being awarded to Hearts 8 days ago…

Oh no – The silence was deafening indeed –

Well we all know what’s gonna fly down the pipe on Saturday for sure…

And they might muster a (too late) whimper then after the horse has bolted, but probably not even then –

You can bet Sevco and Clement will be straight outta the traps after their game v Ross County to put public pressure on the officials (as bloody laughable as that is – but they’ll still try it and actually do it)…

Meanwhile the most yellow bastards in drab grey suits will as always do and say nothing…

COWARDS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER & COWARDS OF THE GLASGOW (and beyond) COUNTY !!!

    • Jim Duffy says:

Clachna cuddin,I would even stop buying merchandise because as you know probably 5 percent goes to funding the team ,the rest goes in liewells and desmonds pocket ,at least sevcos benefactors still dip into their own pocket ,fuck they’ve had to for years ,do you think for a minute our Tory greedy bastards would ever dip , desmond liewell greedy bastards that feed on gullible albeit well meaning fans ,but still gullible bastards as long as desmond and liewell are on the board I wouldn’t put a penny into Celtic and every true Celtic fan must know where our boards priorities are , CELTIC once a great club for the less poor and underprivileged now a a big money making organisation for rich multi millionaires , headed by desmond and liewell, funded by the Tim malloys, sorry Tim gulliballoys

    • Jim Duffy says:

Clach your not getting value for your merchandise ,they are probably made in some sweatshop which is bad enough but every shirt sold puts Celtic shares up so hence more money to liewell and desmond ,come on see the light mate choke the source .

  • Pan says:

It is not just our spineless Board, it is all the other spineless Boards. Court action and litigation is the answer. Take the Ibrox club and the referees and the SFA to court. The best lawyers will soon have this mended. The evidence can easily be collated.

    • Jim Duffy says:

We can’t PAN even if every other complains nothing will be done because the Celtic board is complicit in everything that has happened with sevco since they poisoned Scottish football after illegally being allowed in ,and Celtic is as much corrupt in all this ,and PAN you must be aware that Scottish football is corrupt.

  • Bob (original) says:

As in much more serious scenarios of gross discrimination, bias and

    straight-up cheating :

if you remain silent, then you’re complicit.

Our Board was silent in 2012 around the 5 Way Agreement – amongst MANY other

sevco related incidents – and our Board remains silent today about VAR and

    non-penalties with sevco.

Our Board is blatantly taking the p!ss – again.

…yet we complain about the Hampden blazers?!

    • Jim Duffy says:

Spot on Bob our board is just as rotten and complicit and masonic as any board on sevco, but where our board are so thick is ,if sevco win the league this year and get all the riches and even without CL money they would have killed us stone dead, remember when Fergus stepped in we were a day from liquidation under the bank of Scotland who wanted to forclose our loan , never mind that wanker David Murray eventually owed them 80 million ,he tried to get his banker wanker mates to close us down,so the point is Bob our board are a bunch of shirkers ,wankers ,but they do6 care less about Celtic

  • Scouse bhoy says:

Mark lindsay was he not the inventor of the engine room subsidiary nonsense ?

  • James Mullen says:

It’ll keep on happening until something so blatant is ignored or the sfa is challenged on this

  • Jim says:

I’ve got energy lights with more wattage than kenny millers IQ .

  • Leon says:

I thought they could be World Record holders against Celtic if they don’t concede a penalty in their next couple of games.

  • SARAH says:

Great article. Strangely I think Ross County will get a Pen on Wed, when it’s 4-0….as that will take the pressure off for one on Sat.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Do you know Sarah – you could be very very correct in that ascertain for sure…

But the other half of me is thinking that they will get them that world record that will stand the test of time –

Then in twenty years time they can slapstick themselves and enjoy their free drinks at all The Sevco supporters functions…

I’d have said ‘The The’ Sevco supporters functions but they’ll never crash now with record Champions League cash coming their way – and coming their way it is because these cheats with whistles, flags and monitors are sure as Hell gonna see to it that they will !

      • Jim Duffy says:

Clach nacuddin, they near got a record mate ,4 penalties in a game, but the best one I remember was when Barry Ferguson got a penalty for the Huns ,bang he missed ,ref Hugh Dallas I’m sure ,said retake goalie moved ,bang fuckin missed again , opposite player put a big toe in the 18 yard box,at the third attempt thick we bawwie Ferguson scored ,you couldn’t make it up ,! well you could in jockland.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Na na Sarah they will get there penalty always when they need it ,ie 0- 0 time running out , VAR penalty rangers, sorry sevco Huns ,if they are 3 -0 up no penalties it’s less on statistics.im a tim in engurland and guys want Tavpen to get a game for engurland because he’s a prolific goal scorer ,then they thought even England don’t get that much penalties, but sevcos run of 78 games without conceding a penalty is getting looked into.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Oops Sarah I missed your point ,yes ross county will get it when they’re 4,- 0 down ,yes Sarah I got it pal hail hail ,but we seriously need to buck up because I think this guy Clement is getting a tune out of his Hun players, and I’m not at all confident of beating them the way we’ve been playing.any way Sarah hail hail.

  • Johnny Green says:

Then again, we might just overwhelm them and prevent their incursions into our box, hence not even giving them the chance to be awarded a penalty. So much negativity with the comments, but I prefer to be optimistic and have faith in the bhoys.

    COYBIG!

    • Jim Duffy says:

Johnny ,I have no confidence in our defence at set pieces,on the other hand we are shite at set pieces ,I give you the Motherwell game we had 20 corners I think scored fuck all , Motherwell 2 corners scored 1,our team must be the worst at defending set pieces and the opposite we score fuck all from set pieces ,and even get me started on short fuckin corners

    • Jim Duffy says:

Johnny I admire your confidence mate but but you see our present team stopping sevcos big hammer throwers charging into our 18 yard box and going down at the drop of a hat , Johnny it’s a rigged game for fucks you must see this .

    • Jim Duffy says:

Johnny you’ve obviously been watching some other team ,you mean like we overwhelmed hearts at our own ground .

  • Leon says:

Sevco have only conceded 3 league penalties in their last 156 league matches since September 2019.
That September match in 2019 was the last time they conceded a league penalty at Ibrox.

Celtic have conceded 16 league penalties in that time and Aberdeen have conceded 33 league penalties since September 2019.

  • Frank Duffy says:

There are three groups of people who can do something about the anomaly of The R*ngers penalty fiddle. They are, Scottish clubs Directors, Uefa, and/or the SMSM. Well, let’s discount the latter straight off. Now let’s discount the Directors of Scottish clubs. As we all know they crave the blue pound like no one else! So that leaves UEFA! How long does it take them to move on cheating and corruption in football? By the time they get round to it we will hear the well used phrase from earlier years, “No one has the appetite for this now”

  • Slugger O’Toole says:

Our board wants them to do well, it’s financially good for them

  • BroxburnBhoy says:

Yes amazingly this has gone beyond statistical anomaly and is clearly an issue. Also given that they seem to get a penalty every week it is doubly insulting to all the other teams. Celtic should be shouting from the rooftops about this and other teams should be joining the shouting.

  • Hugh mochan says:

I don’t understand why the sfa are not addressing this obvious cheating by the referee bigots I do believe the English FAshould be made aware of the problem here in Scottish sfa let’s shoW them up

    • Jim Duffy says:

Hugh ,I live in England mate and you know it’s full of yes Scottish football pish poor Mickey mouse ,but this fucking sevco record for not conceding is now getting looked into , about fuckin time because Scottish media are terrified to bring this up ,ie sevco oops the rangers Scotland’s big protestant team from a big stupid backwards country.

  • Gerry says:

Today is another clear, corrupt and blatant example of “the pattern of assistance!” That phrase in itself, describes how bad this has gotten. Until, like you say, club chairmen collectively and publicly call this out, to initiate a wide ranging enquiry, then we are all battering our heads against a brick wall. It does make you wonder, if there are indeed, criminal elements at work in our game…with irregular betting etc ! Rangers to get a penalty or not concede! However we are just paranoid Celtic fans eh?

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

“Rangers to get a penalty or not concede” –

Just a wee reminder Gerry that ‘Rangers’ (The Glasgow Version and not The Cove, Berwick, or QPR ones) died in 2012) !

  • Jim says:

Celtic support this, absolutely no other explanation for the last 13 or so years silence, which included one of the biggest scandals in world sport, none.

  • Leon says:

Crawford Allen was made permanent on January 2020.

Since being made permanent,Crawford Allen has now overseen 142 Sevco league matches and yet they have only conceded 2 league penalties in that time.
One at Dingwall and the other at Pittodrie which caused a letter of complaint.
