Mad Ibrox Fans Call For “Sporting Integrity” Forfeit As Ross County Game Is Called Off.

The dumbest fans in football are determined to prove it again today, it seems, as their forums are filled with demands for “sporting integrity” after their game tonight was called off because the Ross County team are unable to travel for the match.

Police Scotland and the SPFL agreed to the postponement because, to put it bluntly, the roads from Dingwall are like you might find in Antarctica. Even the Ice Road Truckers wouldn’t try and get a bus full of footballers to Glasgow in those conditions.

Storm Gerrit (as in Gerrit Right Up You, Celtic Can Go Eight Clear On Saturday) will presumably also take down the Aberdeen-Motherwell match but that’s not going to make a blind bit of difference to Billy Bigot and his mates on the dodgy Ibrox fan sites.

Their logic is that Ross County should have had some psychic seers in their employ, foreseen the scale of the terrible weather days ago and came up to Glasgow on Boxing Day rather than spend that with their families. And because they didn’t, these moon-howlers believe that they are entitled to stamp their feet and demand the 3-0 forfeiture.

There are a handful who think it’s a good thing, on even more ludicrous grounds than some Timmy Conspiracy; they think they have missed the risk of a “tactical red card” given to one of their best players – by SFA refs! At Ibrox! – and they are breathing a sigh of relief over that being taken out of the equation. You could not dream these people up in fiction.

I think this helps us, so I can understand their mewling. I’d rather have points on the board than games in hand piling up any day of the week, and this way they’re still coming to Celtic Park knowing no result puts them top, which would have been a massive psychological lift to them.

That has been ripped away. A Celtic win and they will sweat every minute from now until those two games are won and the points bagged, by which time who knows where this race will be.

Still, to be demanding a forfeit is crazy even by their standards.

We live in Scotland, for God’s sake, where the term “inclement weather” means 100mph winds or snow six inches deep, where rain is something we take for granted and the summer lasts a fortnight. So it’s not as if this is completely unprecedented or unheard of.

For a club which is supposed to be on a roll and completely confident of overhauling ours, they sure do seem jumpy and nervous. Whatever swagger they try to portray is as fake as powdered egg.

That lot? Sporting integrity? You are having a giraffe. That lot wouldn’t know sporting integrity if it jumped in front of them in a referee’s outfit singing the sash. Pricks.

I just jumped in for 5 mins James and you have made my day re the seismic breaking news that the sevconian team and soldiers are frothing at the mouth!
Thanks James and roll on the 30th. ???

This has played right into our hands, as a loss for them next weekend will put them under pressure, as they still have too win there games in hand. I hear Abada good come into contention which would be a major boost, and Hatate is training and getting stronger, things are starting to look a bit better now. If we play like we did yesterday, we will be taking the 3 points on Saturday. HH

Eddie Howe is now coming under pressure because, following two seasons of “high intensity” pressing football, the squad is full of fatigued and injured players.
We had heard of how Ange’s second season is better than his first but there were also noises of a significant dropping off in the third season.
Instead of blaming the players and the current manager for all our current problems, perhaps the injury problems and lack of quality might just be the “third season” effect.

  • Johnny Green says:

That rain dance I did with a lot of gusto worked then, who would have thunk it?

  • Johnny Green says:

I hope I will be doing another reign dance after Saturday’s game for the Reigning Champions. 🙂

  • Bradzo says:

Surprise, surprise, a couple of extra days rest and training for the brothers. Now, now I get why we are not surprised.

    • Graham Laurie says:

That’s what’s pissed ME off about Ross County not travelling down on Boxing Day and spending the night in a Hotel. 1. The game’s postponement is giving Sevco players an extra two days rest over ours and 2. How is making a 180 mile trip from Dingwall to Glasgow at lunchtime on the DAY of the game, a trip taking four hours going to be good pre-match preparation for their players?

  • John Copeland says:

Man ,all of those bookies who accepted ‘red card ‘ and ‘penalty to the Rangers ‘ bets will be rejoicing at not having to pay out fortunes to punters because of the call off ….void bets -phew !

  • Robert Downey says:

That will do for me, they no doubt be pissed because they had thoughts of topping the league at the weekend. ?
I hope there is a fixture pile up some time soon and they face the brunt of it
I never hope for anything good for these cretins, they bring out the worst in me.
They have bullied and cheated their way through Scottish football and are deemed the Establishment club and as such they want to be entitled
    This sticks in my craw.
Like Royalty, entitlement is outdated and there is no place for it in modern society.
Respect is a far better and more modern word.
They don’t even have a grasp of that word, if their past manager is the calibre of person they employ , as Sunderland will soon find out to their cost.

  • William Melvin says:

James, l gotta tell you that Ross County DO have psychic see’ers in their employ !!
Unfortunately, those would be the very same who lost their jobs at lbrox where they had been extremely happy up until something completely unforeseen (even for them)occurred in 2012 !!
A belated Happy Hoopy Christmas and New Year to ya,chara HH

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Don’t know whit they’re greetin about. If anythin, imo it gives them an advantage of a week aff tae our 3 days before Saturday and nae fear of further injuries tae players . Cannae win with their mentality.

    • Roonsa says:

They, correctly, believe there is a pscholigical advantage to being op of the League. Even if that means having played more games to be there. They know that Celtc will get stronger with the return of Hatate and transfer business carried out in January. They also foresee a fixture backlog that is exaggerated by their Europa League games. Celtic don’t have this problem. They also know that Celtic winning on Saturday will put a bigger dent in their title aspirations than if they had played and won tonight.

Always take the positives, Kev. It makes life all the more easy.

  • Martin says:

They were nailed on to win the game, so I can see how it upsets the fans. But I’d have thought loss of injury risk and few extra days rest would benefit them. I’m not sure it affects us massively either way. We need to beat them, that hasn’t changed.

  • Fun time frankie says:

I heard tavpen has asked the SFAif the penalty he was to get tonight will carry on till Saturday.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

    What the actual Fcuk !

They get a stroke of luck like that and still they whinge, bitch, moan and cry victim –

They truly are anointed are These Bastards…

I used to hear this from drunks in the pub and think – Ach a fu man’s a true man…

    But God’s a Prod – Is he ? – Sometimes you wonder !

  • Peter Cassidy says:

The high press does take a lot of effort for the players that’s why you need a large pool of players either resting or having injuries but also having very good players stepping in to cover it’s a fine balance getting it right .

  • SSMPM says:

However it’s spun, it’s all just words. The 3 pts matter greatly to us. The voices that were heard to say we had the easier run in through Nov and Dec were just words. Look what happened, dropped points and a closing of the gap in their favour. Nothing will be assured after Saturday and the league will not be won. A defeat for either will hit hard hard though on the losers, harder on us imo. It could leave a potential 4 pts gap if they win games in hand. That’s a 9 pts swing over a short period of time and our board will have to take a seriously good look at themselves and their self inflicted impact over the summer.
Our need for the 3 pts is great with the Asia Cup losses to our squad ahead.
Uncertainties around any immediate January signings will now being heightened and I hope this can be utilised as a positive influence on the board and a loosening of the purse strings. I’m hoping CCV is fit and the lead is re-established in real terms come Saturday teatime, we’re gonna need it for the run in. HH
