Celtic’s Season Is Obviously Unravelling. It’s Clear Where The Blame Lies.

It is as we feared. This toiling Celtic team does not have enough in it to get through this campaign with a decent run of form. This team needed a major injection of quality in the window and have not had it. Too many players aren’t on it right now, and without a doubt one of the reasons they are not on it is because they walk into their places every week and not only do they have no challengers there but they are being played every week against teams who have us figured out.

This team has gone backwards in terms of the quality available to the manager. Injuries are only part of it. We took the Jota money, banked it, and spent some but not all of it. We have Champions League money this season.

Why did we bother getting excited over that fact? A run in the Europa League would have served us better because we’d have picked up co-efficient points. Without improving the squad, we were also-rans at that level. Without spending the money from it what was the point in being there? I didn’t attend a single Champions League home game. I had zero interest in doing so. The board made it clear they didn’t give a toss about that tournament and so neither did I. The money I could have spent on the tickets, I used to go to Rome. I don’t regret it.

Today, before the game, there was an anti-board banner and chants against Lawwell. This board is extremely fortunate that we’re still a couple of weeks away from a game at Celtic Park. The rest of us are very unfortunate in that regard as this team doesn’t look capable of getting there without another reversal. This season is a shit-show.

This board was banking on us getting to Parkhead having won these February games. At the same time as they sneer at this manager, they are also betting that he has enough at his disposal to get through this run with the team in this abject state. They hide behind Rodgers whilst simultaneously believing he can work miracles.

Look at the players who are off their game right now. Alastair Johnston is the one unquestioned Lawwell junior success story; how fitting that he had his worst 90 minute since signing today, but it’s not for nothing that I speculated that if he had a quality back-up that he might not be in the team. He’s been going backwards for months. He does not look like our next blue-chip player. Lawwell junior has signed over 20 footballers and not found one yet.

This feels like a season that is coming apart. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to have a happy ending, and that feeling has been there all throughout this campaign, and it started on the day the manager sat at an early press conference and said that he would work with what he was given; that sounded so utterly alien in comparison to what we had expected that it washed over us like a black wave. Things have never felt right since. Rodgers and Lawwell do not play well together and daddy’s boy running the manager’s transfer policy had disaster written all over it.

The team which started this game today had three summer signings in it. Had Carter Vickers been fit there would have been no Nawrocki in it. Had Hatate been fit there would have been no Bernardo. Had Maeda been available Palma would have been benched. 12 signings. A total of £20 million spent. But £30 million in transfer incomings … and we finished the game with a Norwich reserve up front, Scales and Welsh at central defence, Vata wide left and Tony Ralston at left back.

With respect to Idah, he played reasonably well but we could not possibly have envisioned a Celtic team with those other four in it chasing a game at Pittodrie in the last ten minutes, in order to save our lead at the top of the table, when this season started. There cannot be a graver indictment of “the strategy” than this. For those still living in denial, it’s wake up time.

Yes, we’re in the early stages of a crisis here. It cannot end before heads have rolled.

Dreadful performance. Looked more clueless as it went on. By this time next week, that lot could be sittin top and imo, that’s the beginnin of the end of our season. Manager and team no blameless, tho strengthenin properly couldve and imo would’ve, made all the difference. From a treble last season and plenty money in the bank, tae this in months, it’s utterly criminal. lawwell take a bow.

  • KC67 says:

The league is over, at least we’ve got plenty of time to get used to the idea.

Perhaps the huns should install a statue of Lawwell outside Ibrox. How fitting that would be.

The man that saved the huns – twice.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Exactly KC it’s disgusting how this season has turned out,we should have been miles ahead of sevco and now thanks to the board and Rodgers sevco are level with a game in hand.

  • Lubo's Boots says:

Have been blue in the face (ironic) moaning to friends since Lawwell and Son started their own sideline in amateur back seat driving football management. PL has personally, wilfully, and recklessly, opened the door wide and ushered the Ibrox team through with a smile amd a hand shake.
I can’t fathom what sort of exec derails a historic title challenge, then a few years later is allowed back, but is blatantly doing the same thing, and is somehow allowed to operate with his unqualified son in tow to help speed up the self destruction process.
If this were the other team we would be laughing ourselves silly. I was really disappointed when PL came back, but now I am just really angry at the wider culpability of the entire board who have allowed this to happen. They are a collective disgrace. PL and Son MUST GO, but they have been supported by the rest of them. The most irresponsible Celtic board since Fergus came in to save our club.

  • Bob (original) says:

    Well, that was quick. 🙁

Think everyone expected that we would drop SPL points before season end,

    but maybe not so quickly?!

And to be honest, we were lucky to get that single poingt today?

    We don’t have a team:

we have a collection of individuals who are mostly

off form, low in confidence and/or p!ssed off with the manager and his tactics?

  • Bradzo says:

I want to get behind the team, but they are miles off. O’Riely has no first touch, it’s been that for a while, but he scores goals. The whole team are feeling the pressure. Aberdeen are not a great team. We really struggled today, everybody. So what can they do? They should have enough to beat Aberdeen. The teams heart is gone. Defensively poor. How can this be made better. New Manager, I know the board is at fault. But CelticFC have enough quality to win these games, pretty or ugly, but get results. I was not keen on BR”s appointment, 2nd time round never usually works. Maybe they will get better, but I cannot see it. Kyogo is not getting the opportunities, the play is slow, predictable and boring. Again, the players may feel fed-up, winning games and getting booed-off, looking deflated. BR will never turn this round. I must say he maybe a good manager, but the players are not showing this. It’s bad… Do we get behind the team, ignoring results, cheer the-on, give them support and confidence. Palma, I wouldn’t give him a free kick, corner or penalty for the Amateurs. Why does he smile when he makes an arse of it, Palma, it’s NOT FUNNY. secco don’t need the penalties anymore, BR and his band of kids will do it for them. Sad, but that is how I feel.

  • Tony B says:

Who is going to get these board parasites and their lackeys and relatives out?

The only consolation for me is that I no longer contribute financially to the pockets of these charlatans, and never will while they are there.

The Celtic support deserves a club worthy of their faith and devotion, not a farrago run to suit a bunch of corrupt liars and incompetents that would shame a Boris Johnson cabinet.

I fear it will take drastic action to effect any change here.

  • Jim says:

Though we were unfortunate today, bar /post , offside, but the amount of corners we had and did absolutely nothing with is alarming, any other team would surely have converted these chances.

Surely it’s something that has been mentioned several times before, there must be something or set piece being worked on regarding this .

Guaranteed if another team had that amount of corners against us they would have definitely scored.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Jim this travesty with corners has been going on since Martin o Neil left,we must concede more goals to corners and free kicks but when we get them and we get plenty we are rank rotten at scoring from them ,work that one out or get rid of Kennedy and Strachan, they don’t coach anything to help at set pieces, that’s the current buns caught us now with a game in hand , where’s it all went wrong,a clue liewell and Rodgers the patsy for buying into liewell and desmonds bullshit.

  • Greg McLaughlin says:

I said it at the time Big Ange was a lucky success as we had chased Eddie Howe for months only to be knocked back with Ange left to build a team from nothing with brilliant experience of Japanese Market not Mark Lawell. The Lawell Snr pops back in Jan 23 as Chairman and we continue where we left off first time with Rodgers. Place looks and feels unhappy, layers way off the pace , play sluggish , no width ,Kyogo starved of service and a shadow of last year. Get both Lawells and Nicolson on tv and explain what is going on. Change us required as it is all about their bonuses before success of the team. Heads must roll. Dermot Desmond is a dinosaur no interest would rather golf. We need a complete clear out as Celtic is so much better than this shit. Rodgers spend from both periods is profit of £11.49m yes nan 2nd rate manager thinks he is so much better than he actually us. Clearout get the jungle drums going as we need full change now. S
Do not rest as these as these vultures are treating the club and support with contempt. Spread the word WE are Glasgow Celtic

  • Stewart says:

Win or lose this league this season this board really need to sit down and ask themselves one question,,, could we have done better and if there honist answer is yes there is no way they should be doing the job, if they say no,,, they shouldn’t be doing it any way,,it’s becoming too toxic for board and fans,,from 2yrs ago the difference in each is polar opposite,so, so sad

  • Jamie Struthers says:

The board have sent the message loud and clear. Profits are more important than winning football matches. I’m done being taken for a mug. I won’t be giving celtic any more money until Lawwell and his son are gone from it. The worst part of it is I expected to drop points today and normally going into the last 5 mins chasing a win id be on the edge of my seat screaming them forward. I had no motivation today at all and just wanted the final whistle to take us another step closer to the end of this joke of a campaign. From the board to the terrible performances on the pitch there is very little about celtic that i enjoy just now and it hurts to say that. My fear is there is so much change needed that it could take years to sort this mess out and as long as the Lawwells hang about, it will continue to get worse before someone gets a chance to try and make things better. Banners arent enough. These guys need to hear us loud and clear. The next home game there needs to be a statement send from the supporters, but as usual, we will probably spend money in the club shop and act surprised when we put in a terrible display, and so the cycle will continue, and Lawwell knows it.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Jamie we need to organise a walkout at the next televised home game, stop buying merchandise and STs it’s the only thing that will get rid of this contempious board who think they’re untouchable which they are as long the eejit faithful through and through fans line there pockets, until the fans change tack the liewell and desmond golf heed dynasty will stay and fuck Celtic over.

  • Jim says:

Yes, it SHOULD be obvious where the blame lies.
I’m sure that Joker at CQN will enlighten all us inferiors; why we are wrong, though.
Keep printing the truth James, based on factual evidence.
We need you more than ever.

  • Brian says:

Go online and you will see plenty of the I’m a better fan than you brigade, the keep the faith brigade, we are about to lose this league to a financially doped club and our board are the guilty party. Shame on them.

  • Anthony Mcquade says:

I am so relieved that Huns is not offensive because that is exactly what our board are

  • Johnno says:

Maybe it’s time to wake up James and start to smell the coffee, regarding your blue eyed bhoy in Rodgers than keep protecting him upon his failings as a manager with your anti board campaign?
So let’s actually do the squad numbers game now?
11 starting today, along with the 2 January signings.
6 unavailable, and 7 Scottish homegrown players within the match day squad with Taylor making up the 8 required for CL football?
This now is the future of Celtic with the majority of our squad, who Rodgers in turn is happy enough with?
Yet is the shite performances, and becoming more frequent, an acceptable excuse in the manner of how he’s setting up this team and the style and manner he wants it to play?
Quality players we once raved about, totally going backwards in what there’re able to produce, is hardly a great proposition to any players looking to further there’re careers with ourselves, which the development process involved remains idle with a manager forming a reputation of stalling and setting careers backwards now?
How do you explain how this so called elite manager is getting his arse handed to himself upon tactical issues from the sheer quality of the managers within the SPFL in 2nd half of matches, and not for the first time either, as again starting to become a regular occurrence also?
How a total lack of imagination in and around the box is making goal scoring opportunities becoming too few and far between in order to make a once really threatening team, to a team trying to play upon moments?
Or even if our midfield player is unable to take a ball on the half turn, then play it backwards and allow plenty of time for a defensive team to set up properly because our tempo has become to slow?
So by all means continue to ignore the failings of our manager within his job, and continue with the ready-made excuses for him then fair enough?
What is becoming clearer now with every passing game, is the worst signing that this board are guilty of making, is possibly the signing off on a return of Rodgers in the 1st place?
Rodgers can no longer get a tune out of this group of players whatsoever, and getting worse by the game.
Not buying into this nonsense that the player’s aren’t good enough to win a double either, so that is upon Rodgers and his role within the club?
Can’t help starting to think that to maybe salvage this season now, then the board may well have to try and redeem themselves by replacing Rodgers sooner rather than later now imo, but there again can we really depend upon there decision making process either imo?

    • James Forrest says:

You know what genius? Your attacks on Rodgers are fucking boring.

The board that appoints its pals and its family members to key positions at this club and who are TRANSPARENTLY responsible for the fucking state we are … you want THEM to sack the manager and PICK ANOTHER ONE to save this season?

Are you out of your fucking mind man?

      • Johnno says:

Far from it James, just will challenge your shite about ignoring what you fail to see with your own eyes?
Maybe you have developed the same vision as Rodgers now?
Treble winning players producing shite, with a tactical approach and a style of play that only capable of boring a team to death and ourselves in the whole process?
So hail hail to the return of the messiah, and let’s all rejoice with yourself in the wonderful job he’s currently doing?
Continue with making the excuses for his failings James

        • James Forrest says:

You are a fucking idiot mate.

You have NO IDEA how football teams are run or are built.

How do you think a manager can walk into a failed dressing room and turn it around? How do you think winning teams collapse sometimes the second you change the guy at the helm? It doesn’t fucking MATTER what a team did BEFORE a manager comes in. A new manager with a new style of play and new ideas will ALWAYS need his own players to make it work.

You sound like a fucking board stooge.

          • Jim Duffy says:

James I also think we are going back to the old side to side back to the goalie type of football under BR,I remember a game in his first tenure once other managers had sussed him out,as you yourself had said ,low block 10 men behind the ball he had no plan B,but I remember were trailing 2 – 1 broonie got the ball up to opponents 18 yard box five minutes to go and the ball went all the way back to the goalie,I think we’re going back to this style of football,as yourself stated MC innes and Naismith sussed out how to play against Rodgers Celtic,I know the board have curtailed Rodgers and restricted his options on quality players but my grievance with Brendan is he knew this and come back for more of the same why? and no James I’m not a fucking idiot just don’t know what’s going on , we’ll see who the idiots are if those bastards win the league, because Rodgers rightly or wrongly will be the first casualty.

      • Jim says:

Exactly, don’t know they’re born , only know success, try living in the 90,s with Murray and the banks running amok , stopping 10 in a row under Wim was the beginning of the turn of the tide , this is how it is since sky fkd football with wages sky-rocketing.

      • Jim Duffy says:

James no offense mate but I’m not so sure Rodgers is quite the elite manager you make him out to be,if the mannequin pis beats us to the title will he be a better manager than Rodgers,The only reason I slag off Rodgers is because he accepts and dishes out the bullshit the board feeds him,oh one other thing if Rodgers is as good as you make him out to be how come we took spankings in Europe in his first spell as manager and how come with all the wealth at his disposal as Leicester manager he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory,I just don’t think he’s as good as you and he seems to think.

  • John smith says:

The leagues gone,,Thank you Mr,heated driveway,,

  • SSMPM says:

If we have all our first team players available from injury & Asia Cup then I still believe we have the better team. But we don’t. Our bhoys have been sub par for the last year, to many individuals to mention are just not on it.
Can’t see the rankers giving away too many points in this league of pish poor teams like we do. Yet I can still see us beating them at least once more this season.
Trouble is there are no signs of us turning our form around. Kyogo where are you? So many need dropping and if doesn’t change soon we can kiss it. HH

    • Jim Duffy says:

Kyogo is missing SSMPM because the way we play he doesn’t get fed any good balls, but yes let’s continue with the slow passing out from the back ,or side to side pish to make sure our opposition has plenty time to get 10 men back in place for the low block, yes kyogo you must wonder WTF is going on now.

  • Owen Mullions says:

Never mind the board, first out the door should be Rodgers, he is strangling the team to death with his stultifyingly boring ‘tactics’. He is the worst signing we made this season.

  • SSMPM says:

That Troll above needs to get back under his bridge. If you think the board should or will get rid of Rodgers and hire a manager that’s gonna give them shit you’re a bigger idiot than the senseless shit you write. HH

    • Jim Duffy says:

So what you’re saying SSMPM is Rodgers is Pete liewells back pocket and you’re right unfortunately my friend.

  • bertie basset says:

if warnock takes the aberdeen job he’ll be at celtic next season with a big clear out from top to bottom , the board ,management and those coaching staff gone stale from easy living and no new ideas coming to the club !! F OFF the lot of ye !!! and ye can thank that pr!ck lawless

    • Michael M says:

      Warnock?!

You think the answer to our problems is to hire a 75 year old self confessed Hun?!

Ffs, some people are so deranged the local loony bin wouldn’t take them in.

  • Hans says:

Why should we worry? You just highlighted the “staggering ineptitude” at Ibrox?
Seriously James, some consistency in approach would serve you well.
